  • Be patient when working with a Clipper
Needs a very steady hand and fingers like with all big sail boats. Love the Revell instruction manual.

  • This is a very detailed model.
This is a level 5 model kit. The model has all of the details and rigging of the real ship. This kit is for more advanced builders because of all the small and detailed parts. Plus all the painting that has to be done to it. The model when finished is 33.5 inches long and stands from the bottom of the keel to the top of the main mast is 22.3 inches tall. This is a large model. Since I am 73 years old, and have been building these type of models for a long time and enjoy building these models. ... show more

  • Disappointed
This is not the kiy it once was. The plastic is very soft almost too soft for liquid styrene cement and the detail is soft as well Revell Germany responded privately for a missing part but has not responded at all for the defective part that I request replacement for. I planned on many modifications as I was going to correct deficiencies in the model and add detail but I don't trust the quality of the plastic I ordered a vintage kit for spare parts on the project and the vintage kit is far superior in both detail and material. No doubt this is due in part to the age of the molds Witcher probably pushing 50 years as of today's date. But the instructions were0over simplified and far more difficult to read and some .gigging was just deleted. This leaves parts that are installed with no purpose. Overall the kid is far more toy like that ever was and anyone wanted to make a good detailed model will have a lot of addition work to do. I am building the vintage kit and using this new release or spare parts. ... show more

I haven't started building this yet, but the package arrived on time and everything looks good. I checked the contents of the model, and it's all good to go. I can't wait to start building it!!

  • Okay if not concerned about details
This is a repackaging of the earlier kits from Revell. The instructions are jazzed up, BUT, are not as detailed as the 1988 release. The rigging instructions are horrible, as they do not show all the running rigging. You can go online and download the earlier instructions is you want a better looking model. The seams on the yards and other one piece molded pieces are offset so a lot cleaning and sanding is needed. If not carefully on the yards, they will become egg shaped while sanding the seams down. Highly recommend buying the one piece wooden deck to hide the joints of the 3 deck sections and the ejector marks. Typical plastic sails-not using them-to ugly. It was nice to see the kit come out, but the same issues from the earlier kits are still there and no attempt to fix the problems. I emailed Revell and the only answer back is that it was from Germany, and they would send my comments to them-that was 2 months ago. Only got the kit as my earlier one got destroyed in a move. ... show more
