    • Looks good, specs out OK.
Visually, this unit looks almost identical to a much more expensive established brand I have five units of. Physically, it functions very similarly, with a positive feel to the switching components. The unit is riveted shut so I can not evaluate the physical aspects of the interior components, but I have no reason for concern, other than this is a much less expensive unit. I have not conducted a deliberate electrical overload--it's not that easy to overload a 250 breaker, but the specs on this unit are very comparable to that shown for its more expensive alternative. In my previous version of this review--which Amazon refused to post--I gave a link to a time vs percent of rated current graph for the more expensive alternative. The graph shows how time to activate varies with increasing overload expressed as percent of rated current. The time the bus man takes, near as I can determine from the graph, is the same as the Redodo. This is not a surprising finding. For small overloads, the units trip only if overload continues for an extended time (i.e., something like the 180 seconds). For large overloads, such as 300% over rating, the time reduces to 5 seconds-and continues to occur faster as the overload increases. I don't have a graph of the Redodo, but I suspect it will be quite similar. So the bottom line is that this looks good, feels good, and by their measurements, measures good. I wish there were some long term use reports, but I don't believe this has been available long enough to amass such information. On what I do know, it presents as a 5 star product. ... show more

This look as good as any other resettable breaker I have used in the past. I have not tested the maximum rating, but connections and breaker work as expected.

    • I prefer this over fuses
I use this between my battery and my bus bars to offer protection as well as to use as a disconnect switch for my battery when I need to work on my system. Works great.

    • So far so good, but not a Bussmann so who knows....
I've bought plenty of cheaper breakers in the past for car audio, and inevitably they fail after about a year. They always seem fine in the beginning. They are Chinese knock offs of the Eaton/Bussmann breakers and generally cost about half as much. This may or may not be one of those cheaper breakers (it is made in China). It seems well built, the lever arm actuates fine, the terminals seem solid. It feels like a Bussman one, but so do all the Chinese ones when you first get them. On the other hand, the cheapo packaging this one came in, along with the random text on the breaker itself, tell me it's probably not going to be any different than those other cheapo ones. It works ok, but they all do initially, and I don't have the time to wait to see how well it does after a year; the Vine program doesn't give that kind of time luxury. So then, why 3 stars? It's a judgement call based on price and reputation. Have you ever heard of Redodo? Me either. To me this seems like the many other Eaton/Bussmann knock-offs and they don't sell anything else to give me any other kind of idea. On top of that, it costs more than all those other knock offs which is baffling when you're trying to enter the market and have zero reputation (good or bad) to go off of. If a year from now it hasn't crapped out protecting my stuff, I'll bump this rating up appropriately. ... show more

    • A Well Built Resettable Waterproof Circuit Breaker
This resettable circuit breaker appears to be well made. I am not able to test the claimed protection limits. The switch action works smoothly. It is exactly as represented in the promotional pictures. Redodo is a growing name brand, so hopefully they will stand behind their products. For simple DC electrical projects, this circuit breaker appears to be quite adequate, at a good price. ... show more

    • Beware ULTRA-SLOW Response Time
As stated in this circuit breaker's Amazon description, and in the breaker's accompanying literature (and I'm quoting), "the time it takes for the circuit breaker to cut off/switch off automatically" at 138% of the rated amperage endurance (e.g., for12V–36V, that's 1.38 x 250 amps, or 345 amps) is "≤180s." That's up to 180 seconds—3 minutes! I assumed the "s" was a misprint for "ms" or even "µs," so I wrote the seller, Redodo US, for clarification. Their response: "It's 180 seconds, not 180 milliseconds." OK then. After 3 minutes, any circuit the breaker is designed to protect will have been long-since destroyed. Unless I'm missing something fundamental, that's absurd ... and worthless. ... show more
