Features

  • PID Accuracy: Digital temperature management offers higher accuracy, to-the-degree temperature control, and quicker recovery when brewing or steaming.
  • Pre-Infusion: Programmable infusion and dwell time makes shots easier to pull and more repeatable.
  • Shot Timer: Set and save your ideal shot time for consistent espresso.
  • Prosumer Components: The Silvia's survivor status is built on a steel case, solid brass boiler, and portafilter and group designs from Rancilio's commercial line that all offer excellent service life.
  • Backflushable: An integrated 3-way solenoid valve makes the Silvia group easy to clean, and helps to relieve back-pressure from the portafilter for cleaner coffee pucks.

Description

Take your morning shot to new levels of accuracy with the Rancilio Silvia PID Espresso Machine. Originally spartan on features, the base Silvia's overbuilt design suited our techs perfectly! They've added a solid-state relay and PID controller to replace the original thermometer setup; tightening temp control and offering easy adjustments through the front-facing LCD screen. Better, the new controller unit also adds pre-infusion programming for those trickier coffee blends, as well as a programmable shot times for automatic shot brewing. Equipped with more consistent shot temperatures and some labor-saving features, the Silvia PID is just the machine for the lover of classic espresso with an eye for the present.

  • Great espresso machine
Color: Black w/ PID Installed
This is our second Rancilio espresso machine. Our first one lasted about 8 years and was great so we went with the version with electronic temp this time. It's even better than before! Easy to use and makes amazing coffees. worth the money.

  • Great manual machine
Color: Black
For frame of reference, my preference is for a shot that tastes like high quality, old-school, dark chocolate--not the tangy stuff that seems to have become popular. My taste runs toward a blend of French and Italian roasts ground so fine that It takes about 2 minutes to pull a double shot. This Rancilio replaces my 25 year old machine. And, after a few weeks of using Miss Silvia, I like it a great deal. While I have yet to install a PID, which sounds (theoretically) like a really good idea, I get very good, repeatable results by weighing out the same amount of coffee each time on a relatively inexpensive scale, that yields very repeatable results (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B072TBYM2K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1), grinding on a dedicated Mignon Notte (so that the grind doesn't change from shot to shot), banging the grounds around a bunch to even the distribution before tamping, and using a glass with markings to pull the shots. It will take a decade or so to see how well it lasts, but I really love the way the machine functions now. One gripe, it doesn't come with a big enough basket to hold 21 grams of coffee, so I bought the bottomless portafilter, which does. One nitpicking detail, the actual machine has this big, off-center red dot on the group head housing. I actually called Rancilio because it looks like none of the pictures that anybody shows of the machine. Aesthetically speaking, the dot is really ugly. And the fact that the portafilter handle doesn't stick out straight but at an angle, is also pretty ugly. Overall, I would give the machine 4.75/5 for now (because of the really bad aesthetic choices) and I would highly recommend it both because I enjoy using it, and because it is quite capable of making good coffee over and over again! ... show more

  • The Creme de la Crema of Espresso Machines
Color: Silvia PRO X, Black
The best pro-sumer machine on the market, in my opinion. If you love espresso and making your own espresso drinks the Sylvia Pro represents the best value for a pro-sumer machine. It has 2 boilers, one for espresso and one for steam, so there's no waiting for a single boiler to heat up or cool down. Plus, you can make plain espressos and leave the steam boiler turned off if you want. It's a very well-built, heavy-duty machine for serious coffee lovers. If you're a Keurig-type person you'll hate it because it requires some (limited) skill to operate. You can individually set the brewing and steaming temperatures to your preference. It also features pre-infusion - you can set it to pre-wet the coffee for 1 to 6 seconds before the pump kicks in. You'll also need a high-quality burr grinder to go with the Sylvia Pro to take advantage of its superior quality. In order to pull great shots you need a very consistent grind. Previously I had a Gaggia Pro single boiler machine, and it made perfectly acceptable espresso, but you had to either pull the shot first and then wait for the boiler to heat up to steam OR steam the milk first and then purge the boiler to cool it down to pull the espresso shot. The steaming wand on the Sylvia Pro has 4 openings so it steams the milk much faster than the Gaggia Pro, more like a commercial unit. ... show more

  • Expensive Money Saver
Color: Silvia PRO X, Black
Family of 5 making1-2 shots each daily. Pays for itself in a month or two. We’ve had it for approximately 4 months and I’m getting rich during the Biden economic crisis. My latte has increased approximately 40% in cost over the last 2-3 years. We couldn’t afford for everyone to visit our local coffee shop 1-2x per day so we bought this basic machine. I can make a better drink with much more consistent flavor after purchasing this machine. You need to adjust the settings with different beans and grinds, otherwise you might be disappointed. It’s easy to adjust and requires a little knowledge and experimenting. ... show more

  • Covered in advertising garbage
Color: Black w/ PID Installed
If you want your products covered in cheap advertising garbage this is the product for you. I had a Rancilio for 10 years and its clean lines and chrome look worked well on our kitchen counter. Seattle Coffee Gear decided to not sell the clean Rancilio unit advertised, but provide cheap awful looking non-removable advertising all over the machine for "polifilm laser-film". Extremely disappointing. Get your unit from someone that can deliver what you want rather than advertise for others. ... show more

  • great but
Color: Stainless Steel
green light went out acouple months into having the machine and it has been difficult to get or find support for it to be replaced.

  • Instructions are a bit wonky, but the sellers were very helpful
Color: Stainless Steel
Sounds crazy but we got it for Christmas and tried to use it that morning. The instructions show a third vacuum tube (which only exists on the super upscale models, not on the one we bought). AND the trays on the top and the drip trays are wrapped in something that makes it look like it's not stainless steel--- it's a protector that doesn't look like a protector. Unwrap it, lol. My husband was afraid it was from a different model and there's nothing to indicate that it's wrapping. ... show more
