  • Summertime in The Desert Southwest
Color: Natural Size: 72 x 72 Pattern Name: Shade
I purchased this shade for a *south* facing sliding glass door. The door opens to a large brick patio with a pergola that has been built to cover this entire section of the patio. Because the cover/roof—or lack thereof—of the pergola is open and splotchy at best for providing shelter from the broiling desert sun I needed an added layer over the glass. This isn't always necessary but as temperatures begin to hang in the 100° marks well past sunset, just a little extra layer over the glass can add comfort to the interior temperatures and allow me to keep my sunglasses in my purse and my curtains open during the day. I'm speaking mostly to people who live in the dry, desert SW looking to use natural shades for a purpose: you like daylight coming in so in the morning you're likely to crack the blinds or open curtains while on your way to the kitchen to start the coffee. But you have that *one* window or *one* door that, come 4:00, you have to close the curtain because the deathrays of the sun are either baking the glass and the inside of that corner of you're space or you also have pavement right out there under the glass, which now makes you the cupcake in your own little Easy Bake Oven. A shade made from reed, bamboo or other natural type materials will help *absorb* the heat from that glass and restore comfort in the room. Metal blinds or some plastics will only attract and retain the heat in the same way that a cookie sheet does in the oven and only contribute to discomfort in a hot, south or west facing space. In addition to serving a purpose you get the added bonus of something that looks nice unlike your neighbors tinfoil or cut-to-fit insulation sheets they plastered all over their trouble window. Oy. There are people who have bought this shade and were then surprised and disappointed at the lack of privacy. For those who are looking for privacy you want *blinds*; If you want a diffused view out your glass for the purpose of temperature control and a bit of privacy during peak, sunny hours throughout the daytime then you want a *shade*. Think of it in terms of standing near a big oak tree - if you are standing underneath the tree in the *shade* then I can see you; if you're standing behind the trunk of that oak tree then the trunk is going to conceal you or *blind* my view of you. The matchstick shade I had in this window for years was a very lovely, dark fruit wood color but now I am going lighter on the tones in my house. My old shade would roll up with the the cords and that's all there was on the market for ages. It was also equally inexpensive as this one. Now, it seems, you're paying 3X for a roller shade with cords. Given that I never once rolled my old shade up I'm happy to have a roller shade with -zero- cords and plastic weird clip things I threw away immediately after digging out the hooks from the packaging. This was super easy to hang on my own with my girly drill. As a tip, if you find your blind seems a little lopsided once you hang it then hold the top frame and gently stretch it down. You'll want to do that a few times over the coming days because this is woven, natural materials and not manufactured to rigid behavior right out of the box. Work with it, gently; it will even out and settle in. Meanwhile, I am very happy with my purchase as it was just what I needed and expected. ... show more

  • Decent
Color: Cocoa Size: 48 x 72 Pattern Name: Shade
I love the look of these shades! The only issue is that you can kind of see through them. I even hung one on the outer part of the porch and one directly behind it on the inner part of the porch and it still has a “sheer” look to it. Someone will have to be looking pretty hard though so it does provide a sense of privacy. ... show more

  • Easy to cut to size
Color: Natural Size: 60 x 72 Pattern Name: Shade
These are excellent for our back porch and easy to cut to whatever size you need, just order it a little bigger than you need, roll it up and then cut it to size with a miter saw or tool of choice. Easy to install and looks great

  • IT KEEP THE KARENS OUT OF MY BUSINESS
Color: Cocoa Size: 60 x 72 Pattern Name: Shade
I purchased this to keep my nosey Karen next door neighbor from snooping when my family and i are outside on the porch. I wasnt able to use the screws that were included. In fact they bent and broke off. I think it was due to the material used on my porch and not a manufacturers defect. I had to come up with a quick and inexpensive fix to immediately put these up. I purchased some zip ties and 3 Dollar Tree over the door holders to put the shade up. I will have to add a picture to give you a better understanding but it worked. I also used the zip ties to attach the bottom of the shades to my porch. I did this after we had a big storm and the shades were flapping all night long. They are great for keeping the sun off of you. I found these cheaper at a Hardware store online but the delivery was over a week. It was worth the extra money spent to have these the next day through Amazon. I plan on ordering another shade to put on the front of the porch. This will keep some of the air out for the Fall. It's an inexpensive way to enclose my porch. Overall, i am very pleased with the product. Now im just wondering if this will hold up during the winter to keep snow from getting on the porch. ... show more

  • Product consistency needs work
Color: Cocoa Size: 48 x 72 Pattern Name: Shade
I purchased two of these for front porch. The first one I hung looked perfect. The second was made in a way that it hung crooked no matter what you tried to straighten it. Kinda bummed but we left it up anyway.

  • Good product, just not what I wanted
Color: Cocoa Size: 72 x 72 Pattern Name: Shade
The shade installed very easily and the plastic clips to adjust the shade up and down work well. I was hoping for something not quite as sheer, to block out some not attractive view; these however allow the view to still be seen easily if not perhaps a shade darker. This six foot long rollup shade was shipped via US Post Office; and suffered shipping abuse as you might expect. Admittedly, the damage was all on the cardboard outside, and the product was not damaged. I think this was more luck than package engineering, so I would prefer UPS for this large of product. ... show more

  • Does the Job
Color: Cocoa Size: 60 x 72 Pattern Name: Shade
Put them up inside of the lanai to impede the view of the neighbors and anyone walking down the street in a home we are leasing. Didn't want to spend a lot of money and they are just going to hang there so its okay you have to manually roll them up and clip them. I would not put them outside.

Color: Cocoa Size: 48 x 72 Pattern Name: Shade
Not too sheer nor too opaque, I turned them into Roman style shades and am so Happy with how they turned out. This is my third order of these blinds and will order again if needed!
