I didn't rate any stars for "suction power" or "adhesion" simply because they are not applicable for this item as it doesn't use either method. I really, REALLY like this little thing! Its not big and bulky like the ones with the big suction cup and you don't have to worry about trying to get adhesive off of your dash later on like the ones that use adhesive. I bought this to replace one of those big bulky suction cup holders that I bought a couple of years ago that no longer worked at all. The suction cup in it lost its cup shape last summer in the heat on the windshield, it flattened out so much it could not longer hold any suction at all. I need my phone for work and I need to be able to access Google Maps while working. I looked through a bunch of different types of phone holders and really liked this one. It didn't have many reviews at the time, and was similar to others with more reviews, but it was a really good price and I really liked the design and simplicity of it. The button on the back to release the arms is awesome! It fits the air vent just to the right of the steering wheel perfectly. It was really easy to slip in the vent and tighten the first part, then pop on the second part and tighten it. The second piece pops onto the first, which has a ball shape at the end of the post, making it easy to adjust the angle the phone is facing one handed. My old holder was annoying from day one and it always took both hands to get it in the clip thing that held it. This one is easily handled one handed, I set the arms to cradle my phone close enough that it can't fall forward out of it, but loose enough that I can lift my phone up through the top without having to open the holder. Overall, this is a nice looking, simple, and compact sized little holder that works great and doesn't eat up space. I would definitely buy it again and recommend it to others. ... show more

    • Doesn't work on my vertical vents

This economical, no-nonsense phone holder is highly rated, so I thought I would give it a try. I liked that it had the hook, which I read gave the vent mount extra stability. However this wouldn't work on my wide-vertical vents of my 2017 Chevrolet Silverado (3 Gen 2014-2019). After numerous tries, I believe I got it hooked on a vent, but then had trouble tightening it up enough to keep it from sliding down the length of my large vertical vent louver. I think it may have worked ok if my louvers were horizontal in orientation, but I am not sure. But, the product is very well made and the ball and socket worked well. The Silverado 3rd generation also doesn't allow for clip/spring mounts, so the only option for me is the vent, since i dont use adhesives. The 2nd Gen Silverado (2007-2014), does allow for a clip type mount. ... show more

I purchased this holder for use in a rental car while on vacation, aiming for a cost-effective solution that wouldn't be too upsetting if lost or broken. The price was right, and it fit well into the vent slots. However, the placement of the side clamps was not ideal. They aligned exactly with the power button on my Android S23, frequently causing my phone to shut off. Had the clamps been positioned higher or lower, I would have definitely given this product a higher rating. I wish I had gotten this MUCH sooner! It makes traveling way easier with the phone GPS up toward the dashboard, on the vent. It was a bit of a learning curve to install it on the vent at first, but it has stayed sturdy ever since installation. It's easy to push the button to loosen the arms, put your phone on the stand, and tighten them around it again. There is room to plug your phone in at the bottom. When you're done just push the button on the back again to loosen the arms and remove your phone. You can turn the holder to tilt in different directions, which is very convenient. If you have something sticking out of your phone case on the back, like a ring stand or pop socket, it will be a little bulky and eventually start scratching the plastic on the holder, but you can still get it to work. If your phone case is smooth on the back you will get a nice, snug fit. This product is a great value at the price. I feel like it's sturdy and will last for a very long time.
