  • Really is Pure Comfort
I am one of those who is always on the hunt for the perfect pillow, I probably spent $1,000 on pillows last year. I noticed my current pillow was starting to look a little flat. I have been having constant neck pain for the past 2 months and waking up with jaw and face pain. I noticed the Pure Comfort is shaped naturally how my pillow looks after a few months. It was also recommended for TMJ. I decided to try the standard firmness because I find some of the other cervical pillows are too soft for me. The first night I tried it as is, with all three layers, I slept the entire night and I woke up with very minimal neck pain, and no face or jaw pain. The second night I removed one of the smaller layers, it was not high enough for me and I added it back during the night. It's been a week now, my neck feels so much better, I'm getting better sleep (even dreaming), and my face and jaw don't hurt upon waking. I only gave it 4 stars because I wish it was a tad wider, I don't think it is going to hold up beyond a few months, and the cost for what you get. I do recommend the pillow, and I will be buying another one when this one wears out. ... show more

  • great support for head when side sleeping
Style: Soft
This pillow does exactly what it is designed to do...support the head without crushing the ear in a side lying position. I ordered the soft pillow and sleep with one insert to raise the height a bit. I really like it! However, I like to start out sleeping on my back to relax my neck muscles. Its not as comfortable for that. I have found two solutions. I have a feather pillow that I typically have used for sleeping on my back. I start with that pillow and sleeping on my back. Then in the middle of the night when I get up to go to the bathroom, I switch pillows for my side-lying sleeping. This system is working perfectly for me. If I want to return to sleeping on my back, I position my head into the ear hole and that works for awhile, but not ideal for my neck. ... show more

  • Soft and adjustable
Style: Soft
The material is very soft. The height adjustment is easy to change. Cover is washable. The ear pockets could be a little larger. Great for side sleepers.

  • Great idea, but would like to see some enhancements
I ordered one of these to allow me to sleep on my side with in-ear headphones on. Shortly after I purchased it, the vendor reached out to me and offered a second pillow case. That was really great customer service and they were responsive to my concerns about this pillows comfort for my needs. They suggested other products they sell as well as possible alternate solutions. After trying this pillow out, I couldn't use it for more than a single night. The pressure on my neck and face was too uncomfortable for me. I made some modifications to the memory foam and it's been much more comfortable. I've slept on it for a week now and really like the modifications. It would be great to have the manufacture incorporate some/all of these for a better sleep experience. I'm giving them 4 stars because of their great customer service and communication and I was able to modify it with a bread knife to meet my needs. Here's a list of issues/suggestions. The numbers correspond with the one of the photos I've included in this review. 1. The double covers result in the ear hole pocket miss-aligning with the fabric so that the hole size is reduced. It also prevents the channel below the ear holes from being unobstructed. 2. Because the second cover is permanently installed, there's no way to wash it if it gets dirty. 3. The channels below the ear holes could be widened or cut the other direction to relieve pressure on the sleeper's carotid artery in their neck. 4. The ridge at the top applies unnecessary pressure and requires a cert head size to sit comfortably. The same issue exists with the raised ridges on the left/right sides of the pillow. This also results in extra pressure on the eyes and sinuses. 5. The distance between the bottom of the ear hole and bottom of the pillow is too tall to accommodate the space from the shoulder to ear on a large man. It's likely even more of an issue for smaller people. 6. The extra pillow case you offered would be nice to sell along with the pillow as regular pillow cases wouldn't work well with the current pillow design. That way you could have one in the laundry and one on the pillow. 7. The inner bottom channel has "knobs" on them which applies more pressure on the neck than needed. 8. The ear on a person's head is more diagonal than vertical. 9. Using a standard pillow case works fine with my suggested modifications. That would allow customers to use their own cases/fabrics. It doesn't look as nice, but is much more comfortable and flexible to have the option to use our existing pillow cases and designs that match other pillows/sheets. 10. Larger ear holes also lend themselves to back sleeping as the head is cradled on either side of the ear hole. ... show more

  • Great BUT may require experimentation to know if it will work for you
Style: Soft
I am a late-60s, almost 100% side sleeper who has never found a totally satisfactory pillow despite trying many over the years. Either they started out great but quickly (within 4-6 months) went flat and/or lumpy or they were not high enough to support my head in the proper position, at least not without adding, e.g., folded towels below the pillow. Ear pain, one problem this pillow tries to address, was also a frequent problem. I ordered the Side Sleeping Pillow due to the many positive reviews. It seemed a bit pricey, but the reviews consistently assured the company would allow no-cost returns after a generous trial period of up to 100 days. After receiving the pillow I removed and washed the case in cold water, aired out the pillow for a full day, and also put it in a hot tumble dryer for an hour, as suggested by the included instructions. These steps mostly eliminated a faint but noticable odor. I also viewed the online video described in the instructions. Frankly, my first 2 nights using the pillow were not promising. The first night I did not sleep very well despite trying the pillow with no, then one of the two included height-adjusting inserts. I woke up with neck pain, although the ear holes definitely prevented any ear pain. The Side Sleeping Pillow is so different from standard pillows that I assumed it just takes some getting used to. I decided the height without the insert was better, so on the second night I used the pillow with no inserts. That was better and I slept fairly well, but the next morning I woke up with lower-back pain, something that had not happened due to bed and sleeping problems for about 2 years. I decided to try the Side Sleeper Pillow for a few more days to give it a fair shake. On the third night I determined the pillow works best for me when I face toward an edge rather than toward the center of the pillow. The latter is the sleeping position commonly shown in photos and videos. The ear holes still worked correctly when sleeping this way. Quality of sleep was pretty good, but I was still trying to figure out whether the pillow was contributing to my lower back pain (due to different sleeping position) or whether the pain was a coincidence unrelated to the pillow. During this time I communicated via e-mail with PureComfort President, Gina. She always responded within a day. Despite knowing I might ultimately return the pillow, Gina was always helpful, never pushy about me keeping it. To the contrary, she assured me PureComfort would honor its return policy if I decided to return. On the fourth night I went back to my regular pillow for a few days until my lower back pain resolved. Then I began using the Side Sleeping Pillow again. After one night I determined that, notwithstanding my earlier experience suggesting the contrary, adding one of the included height adjusters was necessary – and just right – so my spine was properly aligned when sleeping on my side. During this second round of testing, my back pain did NOT return. It may have been coincidental with the first round of testing or perhaps the initial change of head position compared with my usual pillow temporarily caused a problem. Regardless, since I began the 2nd round of testing I have been sleeping very well, occasionally so well that I wake up a little stiff because I have barely changed positions during the night! The Side Sleeping Pillow has even been an improvement during those rare times when I sleep on my back. As a result, I decided to keep the Side Sleeping Pillow. As most reviewers have reported, PureComfort offers to send an additional pillowcase at no charge. I am waiting for them to receive a new shipment of cases, but I recommend you take advantage of that offer. The case is customized to the Side Sleeping Pillow and VERY different from a standard case. BOTTOM LINE: The Side Sleeping Pillow is substantially different in several ways from most pillows. It may require a period of adjustment, perhaps as long as several weeks, before you will know whether it will work for you. It is possible your initial experience will not be a good one. But be patient and be willing to experiment with heights and sleeping positions. If, after giving this pillow a fair test, you find it is not suitable, you can be confident PureComfort will stand by their guarantee and refund your purchase price. ... show more

  • OK but complicated
Wish I had a bed made from this material - it’s too small as a pillow and too flat. It is unworldly soft and has a luxurious feel - but needs to be larger with a slope.

  • Surprisingly Comfy!
Style: Soft
I had looked at these pillows before, early in my quest to avoid ear pain from using the Bose Sleepbuds system. At the time, I had settled on the rectangular pillow (made by the same company) which has a single hole in the middle. It worked out well, but during nights when I'd toss and turn more than usual, my ear would miss the hole and I'd wind up with... yeah, you guessed it: sore ears. Because of other shortcomings of the Bose Sleepbuds, I had given up using them. Recently I decided to try the Sleepbuds again--but I also wanted to address the missed-ear-hole thing. I decided that I'd try this pillow after all. I now wish I'd have started off with this pillow. If you're put off by the "poofy game controller" look, hey, I was right there with you. That's the main reason why I had passed it up previously--I didn't think I'd be able to sleep on such a thing, and forget about finding pillowcases. The thing is, it's small enough that you can use a larger standard pillowcase with it (you'll have to scrunch some of it into the ear holes, but it works), and the pillowcase that comes with this pillow is washable. And as for the shape? Well... think about the pillow you're using now. As a fellow side-sleeper, I'll bet that when you lay down upon it, the edges spring up in front of your face and you have to spend time knocking it back down. You won't have that problem with this pillow. It's also very supportive of your face--and you effortlessly get the same experience when you roll over. What's more, the position of the earholes (and the fact that there's more than one of 'em) means less time spent with your ears missing said holes. Pretty neat deal. From my very first night using this, I've had zero problems with drifting off to sleep. Hard to ask for anything more, really. The pillow is adjustable in height, thanks to foam spacers which can be added inside the pillowcase. If you're like me and have broad shoulders, you can of course also simply place this pillow on top of another pillow. You have options, and options are a good thing. While using sleep earbuds has its problems, pillows like this help to alleviate some of them. If that's the boat you're currently rowing, I couldn't recommend this pillow highly enough. Give it a try! ... show more

  • Works great but questionable durability
Style: Soft
I purchased this pillow because I'm a side sleeper and have been having issues with my ears hurting after laying on my memory foam pillow for too long, so I liked the idea of the ear holes. For that purpose, it works great! 10/10. Not sure if it's necessary to get this one with the two holes or if the other one they sell with one hole would be fine too....but this one works for me. Also, the adjustable height thing is a great idea - I didn't love it at first but took off a layer and now it's much better. The bad news is that the "protective cover" it comes with has started tearing and I only bought it less than 2 months ago. Furthermore, I haven't even been using it every night and have had a regular pillowcase on top so I haven't washed it yet. I contacted the seller about it and haven't gotten a response yet....but if you buy this I would expect to have to replace the case sooner than you'd think. This wouldn't be that big of an issue if you just use a different pillowcase, but I have found that the ear holes dont work as well with a standard pillowcase on top because it's hard to get it as far down into the hole as it needs to be. Best case, you end up with a much shallower hole and pressure on your ear again. Less pressure than before probably, but it really works best with the custom case it comes with and it's $20 for a replacement. :/ I've also seen lots of reviews about the pillow itself falling apart so it seems like there are durability issues all over the place. As such, I'm going with 3/5 overall. ... show more

  • Almost perfect
Style: Soft
I am a side sleeper and through the years have spent much money on pillows for side sleepers. All of which have ended up being donated or trashed. I came to believe that I must be the only person who hates waking in the morning with my ear pasted to my head and my neck twisted and hurting. I tried regular pillows, both foam and other materials, which did not support my head properly and the weight of the head falls directly on the ear, resulting in ear pain. Also, my head was not supported well as the stuffing would shift with the top of the head going down toward the bed causing neck pain. This also caused breathing through the mouth and therefore snoring, as well as dry mouth which isn’t good for the teeth. This Pure Comfort pillow is the latest pillow I’ve purchased in hopes of this being a pillow that actually works. I wasn’t sure if I wanted the regular firm or the soft, but thought I’d try soft. I am happy of that choice as the pillow is very soft yet extremely supportive! How did they do that? So glad they did. I’ve not woken with dry mouth and have had no neck pain once since using this pillow. One reason I bought this pillow is for the ear space and this is the only disappointment I have with this pillow. I found that it difficult to get my ear into the space and when my ear is in the ear space that places me in the middle of the pillow and I like to sleep at the edge of the pillow so the ear space doesn’t work well for me. Also, the ear space is very, very deep. I dream of a pillow just like this one but having an ear space which is about 1 or 1 1/4” deep and extends from end to end of the pillow. That would be perfect, but In the meantime, I am happily using this Pure Comfort pillow and one I’ll use from now on. I want to also thank their customer service (Gina) for the offer of a pillowcase as well as asking my opinion of the pillow. I plan to purchase an additional pillowcase from them just in case I might need it at a later date as it would be difficult to ever replace. I did share with her what I’ve written above. My many thanks to them. I'm giving a 4 star rating only due to the placement of ear spaces, all other elements are 5 star. ... show more

This pillow works for side sleeping. My issue is that your ears get squished with other pillows, this one does not have the problem and works surprisingly well. It is extremely comfortable and for someone who predominantly sleeps on the side this is a great pillow.

  • Saving my ear from CNH.
Style: Soft
If you have CNH like I do, this is the pillow for you. My only complaint is that I wish it were shaped more like a rectangle because of the way I sleep, I like to tuck my hand under my pillow and there is simply no room for that with this pillow. I haven't had to adjust it, and it is very comfortable. I am also a hot sleeper, but haven't had head-sweating issues, so that's a bonus. The face support is nice, but can also be a little irritating. It adds pressure to the jawline, and because of TMJ issues, it has caused me some pain but it is much better than CNH blisters and bumps, and a heck of a lot better than the $20 solutions out there, which cause neck pain and resless sleep. This is a game-changer for me. ... show more

Very soft, cushiony. I can easily get my ear into the right spot. With the extra parts, it is about the right height for me although I might want it just a tad higher. The only issue I have with it is that I have to keep pushing the two sides together, so the split does not open too much. • The most amazing pillow I’ve ever bought
Style: Soft
I absolutely LOVE this pillow! I actually accidentally ordered the “soft” pillow (I didn’t know there was another more “firm” version available, until I read through the reviews AFTER I bought the “soft version, so I thought I’d give the “soft” one a try; though I would have typically opted for the more “firm” version first)... I’m SO GLAD I tried the “soft” version first! It is SO amazing, and it greatly reduced/relieved my ear pain on the very 1st night! I typically sleep on my back & on my side. When I sleep on my side, I often find myself pressing my head into my other memory foam pillow throughout the night, which causes me significant ear pain & discomfort. This pillow is a game-changer for me. Though it looks a bit funny, I couldn’t ignore the high ratings & the customer reviews. And, like everyone else has written, this company’s customer service is unmatched. I buy A LOT of stuff on Amazon, and I can honestly say that this company has a FANTASTIC product, and amazing customer service. I emailed them to ask about the pillow case, and they responded almost immediately, with a resolution. Nothing was wrong, I was just confused regarding the pillowcase. I didn’t know that the pillowcase comes with the pillow, so when I received it, I didn’t realize that the pillowcase was already attached. They went above and beyond for me, and wanted to make sure that they resolved my issue, with an amazing customer-first attitude. And, my 6 year old son & husband have both tried my pillow out as well, and for those of you who have young ones, this pillow (especially because it is adjustable) would ALSO be good for kids, in my opinion. When my son was little, he had sleep apnea, so I had to buy him a special “toddler” sized pillow that wasn’t the regular “standard” size, to try and get his head/neck on a more appropriate/correct level. This pillow would have been great for him back then (and even still now). I actually might still buy him one, if he keeps trying to steal mine. I know that it’s a bit expensive, but I’m telling you, a good night’s sleep is PRICELESS. We have tried all kinds of pillows (about 10 different brands over the past few years), including the purple pillow, all of which have not worked half as well as the PureComfort (“soft version)...Typically, if the other ones we have tried are soft (to avoid ear pain) they don’t adequately support our necks...and if it’s more firm, then the neck is supported, but the ear pain is bad. With the PureComfort pillow (“soft” version), my problems have been solved. All I need is 1 extra pillow case, so that I don’t have to miss a single good’s night sleep while I’m washing the pillow case that comes with/on it. I will likely soon order at least one more “soft” version for my 6 year old. Thanks again to PureComfort for the great product & amazing customer service experience! ... show more

  • Didn’t quite work for me
I got the standard density pillow. I like the curvature of the pillow, which snugs it up against your neck and shoulders. I like that it has the adjustable thickness pads you can add or remove. There’s good face support on the sides. The ear cutouts are almost the perfect distance apart to be able to roll from one side to the other without having to hunt around for them - you pretty much just roll from one into the other. The memory foam is pretty soft, and it gets warm in my opinion. I think the bamboo cover, as thin as it is, adds to that, because I don’t think bamboo is very breathable. So the pillow was a bit too warm to sleep comfortably for me. What I didn’t like and why I returned the pillow is that the ear cutouts are only 2“ deep. When I laid down and rested my head, the cutouts were wide enough and tall enough but they weren’t deep enough. There was still pressure on my ear and I still would wake up with a sore ear. The vendor does have a website and they do have a contact us option. You can either fill out an online question and submit it or you can send an email to their email address. Doesn’t seem to matter which way you choose - they don’t respond. ... show more

  • FINALLY FOUND A GREAT EAR HOLE PILLOW!
Style: Soft
So, this is literally my THIRD ear hole pillow to try and I’m SO happy to report that this pillow is a keeper! FINALLY! I was seriously about to give up and just try either a down pillow or something super mushy like that that would take pressure off my hurt ear. THIS ear hole pillow is very soft and not hard like 2 other ear hole pillows that I tried. It doesn’t hurt my face and jaw where the ear hole ends and the part of the pillow begins where my face goes. I’m not asked to pull stuffing out of this memory foam pillow and it has zero smell compared to another memory foam ear hole pillow I tried. It is a bit smaller of a pillow and is a little oddly shaped, but I can still use my regular pillow cases on it and it still works just fine. It looks a little awkward, but I don’t care because I sleep really well on it, it is very comfortable and cushiony, and my sore, hurt ear can rest easily in the ear hole which gives me A LOT OF RELIEF. Apparently, I got these sores on my right ear because I only sleep on my right side and for some reason years later that has caused some major problems for my right ear. I have heard that ear hole pillows can not only give you relief, but can also help with the healing of your ear and I am hoping for both. Before this pillow, I was sleeping on another memory foam pillow that I had been sleeping on for a really long time and I think it might have been time for a new pillow because the memory foam was getting a little harder. Anyway, if you’re looking for an ear hole pillow that is NOT FIRM OR HARD, but super cushiony and soft to sleep on, still with plenty of support, I highly recommend this pillow. It comes with 2 pillow inserts if you want the pillow to be higher up, but I’m tall (5’ 8 1/2”) and I do not like high pillows because it’s uncomfortable to my neck so I won’t need the inserts. It cost a little more than the other 2 ear hole pillows I tried, but I’ve learned that very often you definitely get what you pay for. Hope this review is helpful. ... show more
