This has been a long project, with unspectacular results. Review starts at 5-stars. I had ordered this along with an adjustable foundation. This arrived within the expected time, (still waiting on the adjustable foundation, but that's a different company altogether). This headboard arrived in good condition, and I was able to get about 1/2 way through putting it together when I noticed two of the pieces (H3 and H5 from the instruction booklet) were exactly the same (there were x H3 pieces, H5 is essentially a mirror of H3). (-1 Star) Slightly annoyed, I called the Prepac support number, and to my delight, they were able to find my order, and shipped out a new H5 piece at no charge to arrive within the week! (+1 Star) Beyond anyone's control, within that week, I unfortunately suffered a neck injury, and required surgery to get myself back to doing things (surgeon told me i couldn't lift more than a gallon of milk for 3 months). So while the piece arrived well packaged within the time they had promised, I had set it aside, unopened (my mistake), until I was healthy enough and approved to start lifting things again. I opened the package up today, as I finally had the time to finish working on this, only to find that the piece that was sent was the correct size, but it was missing several pre-drilled holes, rendering it completely useless (-1 star). Knowing that it had been a long time since I had placed the previous call, I didn't think it would be worth my time to call them back and let them know they had messed up the replacement part. Plus, with a drill and a ruler, I was able to get the duplicate H3 piece to work in place of the missing H5 piece, with some minor sacrifice to the overall appearance of the product (there is an exposed press board strip where the H5 piece is due to the way I had to finagle the fix. I'll color it in with a sharpie or something, and I'm sure it'll look good enough). To my delight, the rest of the project went swimmingly right up until the end where I needed to attach the hinges on the doors. there are 2x hinges per door, and 2x screw holes per hinge, and since there are 2x doors, there should be 8 screws available to attach all of the hinges to both doors. There were only 4 provided. (-1 Star) Now I have a fully built headboard, with the exposed press board strip, and no doors until I can get to the hardware store an purchase some additional screws. Now, it could be that the experience I had was unique, and I happened to get the one box that was packaged incorrectly. I see other reviewers here able to get this together with what sounds like all of the correct parts arriving in the box. About the product itself: It is a lot more sturdy than I had anticipated. I wanted something to quickly put together so I could keep some things at the head of my bed (I have a smaller room and there is really not enough room for a queen bed and a night stand) that would work well with the adjustable base I had ordered. While I have yet to receive the base (set to arrive in 1 week, finally!), I am very confident that it will suit my purposes well. One last thing that I was a little surprised at was there is no brackets or pre-drilled holes to attach it to a bed frame. While this may be a point off for some people, since I am getting a new base within the week, I am really not concerned with whether or not it has a mount point to the bed frame itself. With a drill, and a trip to the hardware store for some nuts, bolts, and washers, it shouldn't be too hard to attach it if you really want it connected. All that being said, the product itself (if all of the proper parts are provided) exceeded my expectations. I am very pleased with the purchase. It is just a shame that there were issues with the box that I received, and that it wound up costing me some extra time, ingenuity, and dollars to finagle it together to a viable final product. My advice if you're looking for a relatively easy to build, and inexpensive headboard for a queen bed? Buy this. It's worth it. But when you receive the box, open it up and make sure all of the parts are there and are correct. It will save you a lot of hassle finding a place to store a 1/2 built headboard and the remaining pieces while the missing parts are shipped. ... show more

I purchased this for a full size bed for my teenage son's room. It accomodates a full bed fine, there is some excess space on the sides due to this (see pictures) but it still does the job and looks fine. The assembly instructions were very thorough, it was an entire booklet with pretty detailed step by steps. It was still a pain putting it together though, total time took my husband about an hour and a half while I stood by for moral support. The part that was extremely frustrating and added about an extra 30 minutes was the doors. They would not align no matter what. My husband even tried drilling seperate holes in order to bypass the pre drilled holes, but that didnt work either. The doors do close, but you have to close them a very specific way otherwise they overlap each other. (See last pictures) We finally gave up after my son said he didn't mind the quirk and asked us to just leave it as is. For the price, I would say this was a pretty decent buy. Its always risky buying furniture online, but this purchase was overall a good one. Oh, also came with a little furniture marker for chips which I thought was a nice added touch, but ours had no chips. Saved the marker in case we need it later. ... show more

I purchased this for a full-sized bed rather than a queen. The frame will definitely fit. At the base of the headboard, there are panels on either side that are large enough to accommodate a queen or full-size bed, but they do not come with holes pre-drilled. (see photo) The bookcase easily holds novel-sized texts. There is a slight overhang with hardbacks, but only by less than a centimeter. I was able to fit around 40 books in total of varying sizes (see photo)... yes my bedroom is a miniature library. The cabinet is about the same width as the bookcases, but with slightly less depth to accommodate the cabinet doors. There is plenty of space for whatever you might wish to store. The assembly instructions recommend two people, but I was able to do it myself. This headboard is much more durable than the most popular brand of self-assembly furniture with which we are all familiar. It stands upright easily on its own even without being bolted to a bed frame. I was convinced after a recent minor earthquake that this thing is robust. All of the hardware is either metallic or polyvinyl. Moving the 70-pound box inside was difficult, but after assembly the weight distribution makes moving the unit solo much easier. This is by far the sturdiest self-assembly piece of furniture I have ever owned. I struggled somewhat with aligning the cabinet doors. The mounting mechanism allows for adjustment, so loosen those screws, push, pull, and adjust as needed until the doors are straight. The mechanisms are robust, so don't let this process intimidate you. The manual indicates that assembly (with two people) would take about 75 minutes. Solo it was about 90. Not bad, especially if you grew up playing with LEGOs and enjoy mechanical endeavors. I am not a professional builder. In fact, I work on computers all day. But with patience and an enthusiasm for building, this is a fun and easy project. I recommend looking up the logic behind nailing on the backing of any piece of furniture in order to ease that portion of the building process. If you've ever built a bookshelf, you'll know exactly the challenge I am discussing. And, well, it looks freaking good. The trim is handsome. The cabinet knobs are chic, but unobtrusive. If you aren't the wild type, you can place bookends on the top of the headboard and store 100 more books. I currently have a clip-light mounted on the top trim. In total, I highly recommend this product as a storage unit and a visibly pleasing addition to your domicile. A+ ... show more
