  • Sturdy and easy setup/take down
Color: Black
I bought this to replace a Coleman II military cot that I just bought which is impossible to set up. This cot is a breeze to set up. It’s quite heavy, but once you drag it to location, it’s very nice. It’s not stretched as tight as the Coleman II so it doesn’t seem like you’re sleeping on a rock.

  • Great cots
Color: Blue
We’ve glamped with an air mattress for years, and after the second one began to slowly deflate, it was time to rethink our sleeping accommodations. I read tons of reviews on cots from well known brands as well as not-so-well-knows, and ultimately decided to give this model a try. I’m so glad I went with these! They’re a fraction of the cost of my original cot-plan and boy are they sturdy. My boyfriend is a giant and over 200lbs, and I’m a good 180 myself—we both felt so secure and well-supported as well slept. The fabric feels sturdy and was comfortably taut and the steel frame feels like it has several years’ use in it. An added bonus is we can now store a lot of our in-tent stuff under our beds, too, so floor space is cleared up for us from now on. My only qualm is that it can be really difficult (and causes me to break into a sweat) to put the cross-braces in. Once they’re in, it’s smooth sailing, so that’s not such a big deal for now. For added comfort, I also ordered TETON sports universal camp pads to put on top of the cots. They fit perfectly, and we are quite pleased with how comfortable they make our camp beds. ... show more

  • Great cot, very heavy
Color: Black
This cot is large, durable, comfortable, and easy to set up and take down. I am very happy with the purchase. The only surprise was how heavy it is. This is the kind of cot that you unload from the car when you are parked by the campsite. This is not something you will want to carry deep into the woods. ... show more

  • So much better than an air mattress
Color: Black
Finally made the leap and upgraded from the ever-leaking money pit that is camping air mattresses. So glad I did! This is comfy and plenty big enough for me (6'2" 220 lbs). It feels pretty sturdy and the included cargo attachment sold me vs. other brands. Giving 4 stars for a combination of: it is heavy, it barely fits back in the carry bag, it requires a lot of room to assemble (the legs swing out very wide to set them up and it couldn't be done inside a standard tent; though once assembled it should fit if you have a decent sized tent), it does have a bit of sway from top to bottom since all of the support bars go side-to-side, and assembly requires a bit of muscle. My wife says she wouldn't be able to set this up without me. All that said, if you're not a very large/heavy person, you have a bit of arm strength, space to assemble, and patience to get it back in the bag after use, I still think it's well worth the low cost compared to other brands. I'm happy with it and would buy again. ... show more

  • Pretty solid if you need a quick replacement 'bed'
Color: Blue
So I came back from a deployment, and find out my mattress was being used for 'activities'. Burned it immediately. I was used to sleeping on cots so I got this one, added a few blankets for padding and one just to drape over me, it worked out really nice, and was impressed with how sturdy it was. 3 Years later and it still works, dump it in the tub to wash it every few months, and keep water off it, and your golden. Best investment of money I could think of, especially since I used to buy a mattress every 3-4 years, and I like eating in bed. Now if I drop something on it, wash it and it's good to go after drying it outside for maybe 4-5 hours instead of having to deal with the stains on a normal mattress. ... show more

  • Great car camping cot. Larger than the typical and the pockets are great.
Color: Black
I picked this up when it was on sale for $30 and what a bargain! the pockets are really nice to have, the cot is a bit wider than other cots, like Coleman. It is a bit easier to set up as well with the slip on end poles. It stays taught over night and sleeps just fine. It is a bit heavier, given it is larger and comes with the pockets, and if not done right, getting it back in the bag can be a pain. Overall, great purchase. ... show more

  • Good size, but...
Color: Blue
I'm 6-1 and like a bit more space, so I tried this bigger Portal cot. It is based on the GI military design, except it uses a steel frame, whereas the GI ones are aluminum. It is noticeably heavier at about 23 pounds (less bag and accessories) vs 18 for the GI one. Tube size is standard 1" square. The end pieces are a bad design. Normally you have a hole that slips over a peg; this cot uses a keyhole notch. This is bad because 1. the "peg" now has a stress riser point that will make it more prone to breaking, and 2. The bar simply slips off the end - there is no positive retention. What this means is, when you pick up the end of the cot, the bar pops right off. To make it worse, the keyhole is not deep enough, so the bars barely engage. Because of this, they made the cot with less tension in the fabric to prevent it from flying off, and that gives you a wobbly cot. You can push the end legs toward the center so that they "bind up" and there will be less end to end movement, but there is still more end to end movement than many other cots. The top fabric is 3-piece construction, with side loops sewn on to a middle section. There is also an added reinforcement strip sewn across the width, located in the center; this helps with stress caused from sitting the center when you get on / off the cot. 3-piece construstion commonly rips where the pieces are joined, so we will have to see how this holds up. The fabric seems durable, and the stitching is good quality. Comfort is very good, and despite the fact that the fabric is not at taught as a typical cot, it does not sag and holds its shape. The end to end wobble is a bit disconcerting; the good part is that steel does not fatigue like aluminum, so although there may be flex, I would not expect anything to actually break. I pushed as hard as I could and there was about 4" of movement, but no sign of possible failure. ... show more
