From the image, I expected this book stand to be bigger than it is. It is only a little larger than a standard 11" x 8" piece of paper. Folded up its depth is about as wide as the diameter of a dime. Will this hold my heavy textbooks? It does. I am able to use it with 500-page books with no problem. Getting the 1,000+ page books to lie flat enough for reading their beginning and ending pages is a little harder. I use one of the arms to hold the pages down and that works well enough. Breaking the spine would make the books lie flatter, but that is not something I like to do. There are silicone or some kind of plastic feet that help the stand stay in place and keep it from scratching my desk. The added bonus is that there is a 2" open area in the legs of the stand in the back that I am able to slide the base of a desk lamp under so that I have light on the pages. I had not even thought about that when I bought the stand and it has turned out to be a nice feature. I would have had to buy a light for the pages if I wasn't able to do that. I'm glad I bought this stand and not one of the bamboo ones or one with a solid base that would not let me slide my desk lamp up to the pages. I don’t dislike anything so far but I’ve only used it 3 or 4 times. It’s easy to store because it folds flat. And I was glad to see it held my large cookbooks open with no problem. A pleasant surprise!

Amazzzzzinngggggg. No more being hunched over looking at my book! I am a nursing student and the books are HUGE. This book that I'm reading weighs 7-8lbs and is quite large (as seen in my pictures). I read in other reviews that a large textbook would not work with this stand. I took the chance anyways bc I saw other positive reviews about using this with a large textbook. In so glad that I did. Obviously this stand would not work if you open a huge book on page one and expect the stand to hold the rest of the book on one side. It is SUPERRRRR lightweight and thin. The bottoms have silicone non slip coating so it doesn't fall over. I saw a review saying that their stand kept falling flat. But I don't know how that would happen because it's so sturdy even with my large textbook. ... show more

Perfect size for textbooks. The little arms allow easy page turning while also keeping the book in place. I was worried about it being too small and flimsy based on the reviews, but this is actually pretty good quality, good design, especially for the price.

If I could have, I really would have given this thing a 4.5 star. I debated about buying it at all, but am very glad I did. I am old and reading an actual physical book (not digital) for work, while I work on the computer - it is a matlab - EEG analysis instruction book. So the stand is perfectly functional. I have had it for a few days, so I will update if it does not endure. Right out of the box it looks pretty darn ugly. At that point, I was wondering if I should have gotten a more expensive one. But then I put my book on it. I got the white one. The stand really disappears once the book is there. It does its job for a good price. ... show more

This little guy Works everywhere! From the bed to the office, I had no issue transitioning this unit over anywhere I took it. I was able to move from my office, to the couch, to the bed in order to be comfortable, yet still work on my classes towards finishing up my masters. The adjustability is fantastic and the fact that it stays in place and doesn’t move all over (it doesn’t start to open and lay flat regardless of the size of book). Impressed by this simple yet sturdy stand. The metal clips are a good thickness and don’t seem like they will bend or deform easily. Material appears to be ABS or some other high-quality plastic. The feet are small but high grip and effective. The hinge is easy to adjust but stiff enough that it keeps its position and doesn’t move on its own.
