This is a wonderful item to have in your bag for photographing items (usually macro). You can adjust the intensity on left side or right side and add a filter of either blue, yellow or white (defused). Itcan be set for continuous light or flash. Yes you can spend $400 or more on a professional grade version, but for the price this item works fairly well. Pros -Inexpensive -Easy to use -Works well for MACRO photos -Various filter options come with it (clear, smoke, blue, yellow) -Fits multiple sized lens sizes -Multiple options on how to use it (flash vs always on, left side, right side, and multiple brightness levels) Cons -Not the highest quality materials but not awful -The light actually does not lock into place at the end of the lens but instead "spins" loosely which can make using the "half" light option difficult. Long story short is that for the price you are getting a decent MACRO flash/light. So 5 stars given the price to quality ratio. ... show more

    • Good for macro photography
I'm in the rare coin and precious metals industry and I mainly use this for photographing "raw" meaning not certified in the plastic holders. It works great for non-reflective items. If you have cases, it will reflect the led array back into the photograph. What's extremely convenient is the ring easily attaches to the lens outer ring with a simple button press for easy removable/placement as needed. It can also be mounted directly to the camera's hot shoe for integration as a flash. What's not so great is it eats batteries. Since I use a copy stand to take fixed position most of the time, I hard wired a variable voltage power adapter (6V) to prevent having to change batteries so often. Works fine. Convenient LCD screen to adjust intensity, choose flash/light mode, too. Very good product! ... show more

    • It worked one time (flash mode), then stopped.
I am disappoint. ;) The constant light will work, assuming the incredibly poorly molded white diffuser stays on the front of the light .. but the flash doesn't work after one try. I changed batteries, removed / replaced on camera .. nothing makes this unit "flash" again. I'm thinking that all I paid for is a ring light for my macro lens. I just got this today, so will play with it until this set of batteries dies (likely in a few hours, going by other reviews), and then will have to decide whether to return it. I purchased for nearly $40 on Feb 1st, 2024. There's a Godox unit available for $90 that looks much more likely to work a little longer (https://www.amazon.com/Speedlite-5800K%C2%B1200K-Panasonic-Production-Photography/dp/B0BJ8WPXVV/), and maybe be a bit better build quality. That'll most likely be the next thing I try. I've gotten what I paid for here, and I am not complaining because I read the reviews first and knew what was likely to happen .. and despite that, I am surprised that it's this poorly made. It'll work for very basic fooling around, which is all I am ready for right now, but .. we'll see how long the fun lasts. Be very careful not to cross-thread the mounts on the front of your lens .. these are pretty soft-plastic mounts and are likely to get stuck if you apply very much force. ... show more

I’ve only played around with this in the house, haven’t had a chance to take any real photos, but so far i like it. It has limited distance so only works well in certain places. Obviously not high end, but works well for my needs. I took pictures without flash and with all four flashes for comparisons. (Sorry I didn’t have time to upload them so I just took a picture with my phone of them in my computer, so the coloring will be a bit off and grainy) Shipped faster than I expected.     • Piece of Junk Don't Buy
I've had 2 of these in the past but this was my first purchase from this seller and this brand. My battery compartment hinge broke on my other bit it had lasted me several years with no issue (again., Not this model or seller). I ordered this one because it looked like an upgrade and I had a wedding coming up and needed a replacement. WRONG. This is junk. It wouldn't even fire but once or twice. It does have lots of adapters and it works fine if you want to leave the light on and blind everyone but there's something faulty in the connection. I know it's not me or my camera as my other works fine. I couldn't use it. I had to tape the hinge on the old light ring and continue using that. I'm so disappointed. I let the return window close as Mother passed away and I completely forgot about this and missed the window. I am so aggravated over this.purchase. There are so many brands and sellers on here that have quality versions of this light ring. Please shop around before wasting your money here. ... show more

I got this light/flash today and I am very satisfied with it. Pros 1. It is bright enough for MACRO photography. The distance is very short. 2. It is easy to use and install once you figure out how to install and use it. 3. It puts light where you need it. 4. The light strength is adjustable. 5. The price. You can see if a ring light is good for you without spending a ton of money. 6. The weight. This thing is super light, compact and will fit is almost any bag. Cons 1. The 55mm lens cap will not fit while this is installed. 2. If you have a lens hood you may have issues. ... show more

    • Very nice light for the price
I like this light a lot. I use it to take snow flake photos with my macro lens mostly and it works great. The adapters that come with it allow it to sit on the lens well and the control slides into my flash slot very well. I have never used it as an actual flash but you can. I just turn it to constant on and use it that way. I have used for quite a while like that out in the snow this winter and have yet to change the batteries.
