  • Great Product with no Customer Service
As a longtime user of Dragon Medical using Philips microphones, I set out to use the Dragon Professional consumer product at home and purchased Dragon Professional version 16 along with the SpeechMike Premium Air. Dragon installed fine, but the SpeechMike Premium Air not so much. I think the product can be made to work, but don't look to Philips or Nuance for any help. There is no product support, and I mean none. As of this writing, the product doesn't even show up on the Philips web site, just the wired version. Philips offers no other support. I was finally able to find a YouTube video and am able to get some of the features working. Philips obviously wants to avoid any customer contact regarding this product. So do not purchase if you want to avoid a significant amount of time fiddling with the software and trying to get some help. ... show more

  • Expensive but worth it.
Cons: gotta lug the usb base around if you use it with a laptop, also may have to get accustomed to turning mic on and off instead of push to talk, randomly vibrates (yes, vibrates) and, well, it’s expensive. Pros: supremely accurate, battery lasts all day, chordless (really makes a difference) and it works even if the charger/base is in the next room. Also has a nightrideresque red LED when its recording. I spend a lot of my day documenting with dragon medical, so when my usb mic went on the fritz, I decided to make this investment and it’s definetly a step up. For me, it’s been worth the price tag. What-I-wish-I-had-known: with my old mic that came with dragon, dragon would sense that the microphone record button was physically pressed and automatically turn the application microphone on then off- AKA “push to talk.” In my experience, for this mic to record in dragon you have to first turn on the dragon software mic (ie make the application icon go from red to green) and leave it on so that it will receive when you hit the record button on the speechmike. You only have to do this one time after you open the dragon medical app and load your profile- but if you don’t do this, you may be fooled into thinking your speechmike doesn’t work and miss out on using this randomly vibrating but no less awesome chordless microphone. ... show more

  • Best Microphone I've Used
I've not had any issue with lagging. The battery easily lasts all day. It lasted all day the next day when I forgot to charge it. The buttons are easy to push. I like I that I can change the setting on the mic to make it act like a keyboard, programming buttons to be hotkeys so no driver is needed to get it to work. This makes it work with dragon on any of the computers at the hospital without me needing to ask IT to install special software. That said, it would be even better if I could program it to insert specific text strings when I push a certain button instead of just hotkeys/single characters. I would recommend this microphone over the nuance powermic. It's definitely worth getting the Air Bridge if you are going to use it with a laptop. ... show more

  • Not all it is cracked up to be!
Not as awesome as I was hoping for. This does seem to be the only handheld mic that is designed to work with Dragon and to work on a Mac. It also is suppose to gives the ability to program buttons on the microphone to preform commands without having to put your hands on the keyboard. The problem is the software to program the microphone for mac does not come out until July 2018, from what the Phillips help desk reports. They are currently suggesting to use software for the SMP3700. This kind of works and kind of does not. Not sure how much of this is because Dragon Medical for Mac has also been quirky to say the least. I can not seem to get the program buttons to accept dual button commands (Shift + Tab). I can program Tab and it works, but not the dual buttons. I use an Olympus USB microphone at work on M-Modal and I was hoping for similar functionality, but the SMP4000 with Dragon Medical has not been nearly as functional. I will give credit in that it works well for a cordless microphone. Not sure if it is worth the cost! Would be more happy with a USB microphone that worked the way it is supposed too. Will see if the new software in July helps. ... show more

  • Easy to install and extremely accurate
I am a long-time user of Dragon Naturally Speaking products and currently use Dragon Professional Individual 15. The last seven or eight years, I have been using a Phillips SpeechMike Pro, but over the years, the dock no longer charged the microphone properly, and I had to buy several sets of batteries and wound up constantly switching them out. Very inconvenient. When I saw this new microphone, the SpeechMike Premium Air, I was ready for a new microphone, and so far I am very impressed. I've only installed it in the last day or two, but it has remarkable accuracy, and it was easy to set up. It is working very well with Dragon Professional, and the transition from the older microphone to this new one, has been virtually seamless. If you are using Dragon speech recognition software, this microphone is definitely worth a look. ... show more

  • A bit expensive but excellent product.
I bought this product strictly to use as a wireless mike for dictating radiology reports with powerscribe 360. I wanted a hands free device that did not go over my head/ears. I put it in shirt pocket and it has great voice recognition. The battery lasts for at least a day or two. A fantastic device. Previously I had been using a desktop yeti microphone which worked nicely but wasn’t wireless and didn’t work well with background noise present. I have also used a dictaphone placed into my shirt pocket but don’t like the cable. ... show more
