  • Do not buy this porduct
Color: Black
Do not buy this product. I have had this toothbrush for almost a year, received as a Christmas present in 17. I must say that this product does it job above and beyond the description. My teeth have never been cleaner. The brushing experience is great and the toothbrush teaches you how to completely cover all areas of your mouth. It is an outstanding toothbrush that up until yesterday I would have highly recommended. Then along comes Phillips with an update. Now you cannot brush your teeth without Phillips receiving data about your session. I don’t want people to know how I brush. It is a toothbrush but Phillips has changed it from a great piece of oral hygiene equipment into some Orwellian tattle tale. I want my 2 minutes in the morning and evening to be spent whitening my smile, and destroying plaque, which till yesterday is what it did. Now 4 minutes a day are devoted to Phillips marketing research and how to sell me things I do not want, need, or desire. Phillips has destroyed an amazing product to appease the marketing people. Do not buy. ... show more

  • Great toothbrush, while it functions
Color: Black
This unit is amazing, while it actually functions. This is the third diamond care unit I have personally owned, and also the third unit to cease functioning (each unit only lasting a year or less). The first unit's metal shaft (where the toothbrush head attaches) became loose and started making a loud buzzing sound, which progressively got worse until the brush no longer pulsated. It had never been dropped, and I had always been very careful with how I handled it. I contacted Phillips in order to receive a replacement, as the unit was still within the 2-year warranty, and was informed that I would need to return my current brush to them before they would ship out a replacement. I purchased a cheap battery operated toothbrush to use in the meantime and received a replacement diamond care in about 1.5 weeks. The replacement arrived and functioned for about a year. Once again, the exact same problem happened. Mind you, this time I was even more careful with with the brush. At this point, I was incredibly annoyed by the quality of this product. I'm not one of those people that expect to purchase a device and expect it to last forever, but at around $170, I DO expect it to last for longer than a year. Around this time, I noticed that Phillips released a newer version of the brush with smart features and presumed that perhaps they worked out some of the bugs. Apprehensively, I opted to purchase this new model rather than go through Phillips for another replacement of the same apparent dud. I purchased this smart edition (9300 series) on January 31, 2018. Today it is August 15, 2018 and I already began having the exact same issue with this unit about a week ago. Once again, I contacted Phillips to have it replaced and was told that I would need to send the unit in prior to receiving a replacement. I will use this replacement, whenever I actually receive it, until it inevitably ceases to function, but I will never purchase another product from Phillips. Between the terrible quality of their products, and the fact that they make you send in the malfunctioning devices prior to receiving replacement, it is very frustrating. These units still function as ordinary toothbrushes when they aren't turned on. I shouldn't have to go out and purchase a replacement brush while waiting on a replacement, especially after having spent almost $400 in less than 3 years' time. Unbelievable. ... show more

  • Toothbrush: internet required
Color: Grey
This product seems geared to getting you to install their app so you can be farmed for data. There's no opting out if you use the app. You have to create an account with a valid email to get information from your toothbrush. If you don't use the app, you have to remove it because it starts giving you alerts...not to promote hygiene and health, but to let you know you haven't connected to give access to your data. It would have helped if my expensive toothbrush had noted anywhere that internet was required for all advertised features. It's like a graphing calculator that needs internet to work. ... show more

  • [3yr. Update] You'll be thoroughly impressed, even upgrading from another electric toothbrush.
Color: Black
[3yr. Update] Given that this review has helped hundreds of people, I'd like to keep it up to date. Unfortunately after 3 years, I dropped the toothbrush from mouth-height and have totaled it. It now produces a loud noise during operation and it has lost it's brushing strength. I'm taking this opportunity to amend my review with a few insights I gained from the past three years - I hope you find this is helpful! 1. It could have better build quality: While I take full responsibility for the drop, for nearly $200 I expect a little more robustness than a single-drop-kill. Especially considering I've never dropped it before. Before buying, consider that you may have to shell-out another $200 if you happen to drop it JUST ONCE. 2. Expensive replacement heads: Each head is more expensive than a regular toothbrush. Again, you'd think the upfront cost will save you some money down the road - nope, you'll end up paying more than ever! I guess a Ferrari does cost more to maintain. 3. Turns out the app isn't very useful: After using it 3-4 times during the first week, it turns out adding another step to a multiple-times-a-day routine is hard to keep up. The information the app gives you isn't that useful to see on a recurring basis and the setup every time is kind of a hassle. No offense to the development team who built the app, it's really fancy, but I'd rather Philips invest their money on the hardware and pass-on these savings to the consumers. Because of these reasons, I'm taking away two stars. It seems like a lot, but the single-drop-kill did it for me. Additionally, a quick look on Amazon reveals other electric brushes with similar capabilities and at a much lower price. I love the Philips brand, but I'll likely try a different brush this time around. I'll keep this review up to date. [Original Review] I recently upgraded to this toothbrush from a Philips Sonicare Flexcare and it has been absolutely worth it. If you are considering upgrading from a traditional toothbrush to an electric / sonic toothbrush I would recommend doing it immediately. For me, getting an electric toothbrush has been the best investments in personal hygiene by far. It is something I use multiple times a day, and every time I switch back to a traditional toothbrush or any reason, I can tell the difference. Even my dentist is astounded every time I go for a cleaning about twice a year, the sessions are super short as there is barely any plaque build up. If you are new to the space, I wouldn't waste my time with other options and go straight the best money can buy, and fortunately you don't have to look any longer because this product is it. Here are the biggest reasons why I'm loving it: - Good for travel / long battery life: I didn't realize initially, but the battery has lasted me for over two weeks on a single charge! I just take this in the travel case and forget about charging it for a while. - Easy Charging: Unlike my Sonicare Flexcare, you don't have to place the toothbrush on-top of a charging pin, you can simply place it in the charging cup. The cup can also be easily cleaned which is a big plus. You want this process to be as easy as possible and this delivers the best experience I could have ever imagined. - Seamless / waterproof / handsome design: Over time, my old Fexcare toothbrush started smelling funky because water and gunk accumulated around the seams between the rubber at the bottom charging area. I can already tell this will not happen with this toothbrush because of it's unibody and seamless design. I'd also like to mention the toothbrush and charging cup look really great, I'm proud to have guests go into my bathroom and admire this gadget. I'm trying to convince my wife to get the same toothbrush in pink, not only because it's a great product, but it will make our bathroom look even better. - Useful Smartphone App: I honestly thought the app would be gimmicky, but I was completely wrong. I build software products for a living and I can tell Philips has invested significant resources into building a truly useful mobile app. It blows my mind how well the accelerometers and pressure sensors work and the useful information that it relays to improve your brushing form and tell you where you missed a spot. Brushing too hard is a real issue with electric toothbrushes since in extreme cases, it could wear your gums down, this toothbrush tells you if you are doing it too hard so you don't have to worry! You don't need to use the app for this though, the toothbrush has a light at the bottom that tells you if you are applying too much pressure. - Overall very well thought-out user experience: From the unboxing to the first use, I was delighted at every corner. One of the best consumer electronic experiences I've had. I hope that helps! Hugo ... show more
