Features

  • Intuitive to use: - technique identical to classic Prusik pulley system - the device locks automatically on the rope once the friction chain extends
  • For efficient movement within the tree: - rope feed is smooth and precise thanks to the release lever, allowing the user great control over his/her movements. Adjusting the pressure on this lever controls the speed of movement - easy to take up slack, thanks to the pulley mounted on sealed ball bearings and the separated and curved side plates - lower attachment hole is fixed to ensure alignment of the device with the axis of the worker and optimize grip
  • Versatile: - for use on either doubled ropes or a single rope, thanks to the CHICANE accessory, which offers more friction on the descent, and the KNEE ASCENT assemblies, which facilitate the ascent - upper attachment hole for the rope end when using a doubled rope or for the CHICANE auxiliary braking device when using a single rope. It has a flexible positioning ring that helps keep the connector oriented along its major axis - auxiliary attachment hole for adding a ZILLON lanyard or connecting
  • Durability: - steel construction for improved durability - separated and curved side plates for better wear resistance
  • Rope compatibility: 11.5 to 13 mm diameter ZIGZAG allows the user to work in compliance with the ANSI Z133 standard

Description

The ZIGZAG mechanical Prusik allows the user to move around efficiently in a tree using classic Prusik pulley system technique. The friction chain provides precision and fluidity when moving around. The pulley is mounted on sealed ball bearings to allow the slack to be taken up easily. Can be used on either doubled ropes or a single rope, providing great versatility. The lower attachment hole is fixed to ensure alignment of the device with the axis of the worker and to optimize grip. • Gold standard
Works flawlessly. Good price. Safer for the climbing crew than other options.

  • Lite and compact
Never used one of these before, at first sight is looked small. After putting it to use, notice that does a good job of creating friction and able to hold my body with no issues. Like the idea that is lite and compact, for ease of attaching it to my hardness for storage.

  • Arborists dream
Been climbing on a rope Prisik hitch for a few years and finally decided to switch over to the Mechanical hitch MRS , man wish I would’ve switched earlier ! If you want a fast / smooth system on MRS and are a experienced climber then go with a 11.6mm or 11.7mm rope. If you are new to climbing go with a thicker rope it’s slower and easier to learn . ... show more

  • State of the art for mechanical prusiks !!
Smooth and accurate as they come. Tolerant of pitch, rain, dirt and new rope. Self tends with a pulley saver after you have 10' of rope under you. Doesn't require a tether for knee and foot ascenders. The only drawback is that it is not mid-line attachable, but after you use it for the first time (with Petzl rope) for crane work, you won't care! I can safely say that I have EVERY mechanical prusik. This is my go-to. ... show more

  • Does not work with Petzl 12.5mm control rope
I love this ascender. While I admit I have never tried another ascender, I do not see myself ever buying another brand of ascender. My only complaint is that the Zigzag does not work well with Petzl's 12.5mm control rope. The Petzl control rope has an un-spliced end with a huge chunk of heat shrink on it that will not fit through the Zigzag, and on the other end of the rope is a spliced eye, which also does not fit into the Zigzag. I had to cut the heat shrink off the standing end to use it with the Zigzag, but this means that I have to pull 200' of rope through the Zigzag each time I want to disengage from one rope and then feed another 200' rope through when I move to another rope. Sadly, this means that my Zigzag stays attached to ONE rope all of the time. I bought a second Zigzag to permanently leave it on a second rope, which is rather ridiculous and pricey. Other than that, the ascender is a tool that builds confidence, especially for noobs like my wife and kid. ... show more
