Description

Petzl Tikka Compact Headlamp (200 Lumens) COMPACT HEADLAMP FOR PROXIMITY LIGHTING AND SOME MOVEMENT 200 LUMENS Simple and compact, the TIKKA headlamp offers lumen brightness and a wide beam. The Petzl Tikka Compact Headlamp is practical for outdoor activities like camping or trekking, or for travelling, and also for daily activities and projects around the house. The simple and compact headlamp offers 200-lumen brightness and a wide beam. It's easy to use, thanks to its single button with which you can quickly and easily select the three lighting modes: proximity, movement and distance vision. • Not as impressive as some older models, but still OK.
Size: One
Initial review 10. January 2018, edited 11. January 2018. Have been using Petzl "Tikka 2" lamps for work (Grey with a green button and 4 LEDs) for about 5 years and they have done a very good job mounted to a hard-hat with "Kit Adapt". As some other reviewers have said, the design and production quality of the more recent Petzl headlamps is not as good as it was a few years ago. It made me think whether the product was a "fake" Petzl rather than the real thing, but the packaging and headband seem to be of too high quality for that. The production quality of the lamp itself is however, not significantly higher than of cheap no-name brands you can buy for much less. Seems that Petzl has either been sold off or has sold out. In my initial review I said the following: 'These new lamps do not seem to fit the "Kit Adapt" as the tilt setting doesn't hold - it just droops to the lowest setting / dangles loose. I will improvise to get it fitted to a hard-hat but I would have preferred to not have to spend time on it to make it work.' I have since tried it with a new from the box "Kit Adapt" and it works as it should. Perhaps the one I tried it with first was just worn to the point where it will still work with the older TIKKA models but not these new ones. I will up the review from 3 stars to 4 for this. I may consider buying more of these in the future. ... show more

  • Great, fairly easy to use.
Size: One
The media could not be loaded. This is a great lamp. I also own a Petzl Tikka XP, and a Black Diamond Spot from 2014, as seen in my photos attached. The Tikka button is easy to operate. The light is fantastic. When you turn it on, it defaults to low power, which makes sense to me. The power settings go Low, then Medium, then High. It’s easy to remember! Interestingly, this Tikka model is stronger than the Tikka XP. You would think it would be the other way around. The only thing I don’t like about the Tikka is the headband. The Tikka headband has a strange “loose end” that anchors into a buckle. Why did they do that? Is there some function there that I don’t understand? That headband design seems a little unusual. (On the other hand, the Tikka XP headband is great. A completely different design.) Still, the Tikka is a great lamp, and one of the best in my opinion. I don’t like the Black Diamond as much. The Black Diamond is too complicated in my opinion, because it comes on at 75% power, then you can dim down, or up. The dimmer function seems cool at first. But the thing is, you never really know what power level you are at. Am I at 25%, or 41%, or 88%? Who knows? It’s way too fussy. The BD has so many features and button functions that I can’t even remember how to use most of the functions. The BD PowerTap feature is a nuisance. Every time I go to adjust the tilt angle of the lamp I inadvertently hit the PowerTap. In my opinion, I think Petzl is much better. ... show more

  • Much brighter than my other headlamps with good battery life.
Size: One
This was a much brighter upgrade than my headlamps bought at Home Depot and other department stores. I have owned ~6 different headlamps from various stores (include Energizer, LL Bean, Duracell and other no name brand) that I have picked up over the years primarily for camping and when out snow blowing before daybreak. Most of the ones I have owned in the past gave adequate light in the pitch black of night but were not bright enough to use around dusk as they did not over-power the ambient light. This headlamp exceeded all of my expectations at only 200 lumens. My other 200 lumen lights (or even my biggest lamp that was 250 lumens) did not come close to the amount of light this thing puts out. The red light function is also brighter than that all of my other headlamps. I am very happy with this PETZL lamp and will be replacing all of my other headlamps with these. I don’t think you can beat it for the price. ... show more

  • 3 brightness levels plus red. durable and versatile with long battery life. Great for astrophotography.
Size: One
A well built and reliable headlamp. I bought this to assist in my astrophotography; the 3 brightness levels are great for navigating any terrain, even on moonless nights. The red led is just bright enough to allow me to work efficiently in the dark and even works well as a light source for some creative long exposures. The main lamp even has a photoluminescent surround that glows green after only a few minutes of headlamp use to make it easy to find the lamp, or my friend and I to find each other, in pitch blackness during exposures. Despite a single on/off switch that requires you to cycle through each function, it remembers the last setting so you don’t blind yourself and others if you turn it back on after turning it off in dark mode. The strap is easily adjusted and removable with one of the buckles housing a rape whistle. Perfect for letting women know I’m prepared to be raped, I guess. The lamp body is hinged with positive detents to maintain a desired angle securely while adjusting with one hand easily. My only wish is that it used a single CR123, rather than multiple AAA batteries, only to maintain compatibility across my gear. It would’ve been nice to only have to pack a single type of spares. ... show more

  • Great little headlight
Size: One
I have had PETZL headlights for a number of years, and have always had good luck with them. This light has a couple different brightness settings (the lowest setting has been sufficient for me so far). The headband is secure and comfortable and does not move around when I'm wearing it. The light mount also has detents so you can angle it downward how you want and it stays there. The headlamp also glows in the dark for a little bit after you turn it off which I love because I am bad about putting it down and then remembering I left something outside and need to find the light and go back out. I would definitely recommend this light and you can't beat it for the price. ... show more
