I have gone through a few of these. work fine for small/nano tanks. the cartridges are a bit lacking, but there is space to add some floss or other media if you like.

    • Super low flow
Even with the flow maxed out it’s super mellow and perfect for a Betta or nano fish. I have it in a 10 gallon with 15 chili Rasboras and it provides just enough flow to give the water some flow and keep my floating plants in check.

Okay so i originally got this filter because everything else i tried is literally so HUGE, or works absolutely terrible or sucks way too much but not the debris. To start with this product, 10/10! It has great flow control, and my beta does not like too much flow so this was perfect. It keeps my water CLEAR, and i mean, the clearest water my fish tank has ever seen. On its highest flow, my beta swam right up to it and it didn’t even catch him. he just rubbed against it and swam right away from it. In terms of noise. there honestly isn’t any. I can understand other reviews saying the plastic rattles but it’s honestly so quiet it doesn’t even bother me in the slightest. I have a 6.5 gallon tank for reference and i 100% recommend this product, installing was easy. came in one piece. no complaints here 🫶🏼 ... show more

    • Arrived with a broken piece
The filter itself is nice, and will work well on my 5 gallon quarantine tank. I think it would be good for folks with beta's as it doesn't create a lot of disturbance at the surface as far as I can tell. However, one of the important pieces, the flow control valve, was broken in the box upon arrival. Without it the water will not suck up into the tube into the filter. Have contacted the manufacturer who I've had great success with in the past so I'm sure they will send a replacement piece. In the meantime I've applied some Gorilla Glue and hoping I can use it at least until the unbroken part comes. Can't wait to use it so I can quarantine some new fish for my bigger aquarium! ... show more

    • Cheap but works
This is a great filter for a low price, it only comes with one filter cartridge which kind of sucks. But it is pretty powerful, so powerful that I had to block some of the flow in my 5 gallon tank with some fake plants, my betta really didn't like too much water flow.     • Works great for nano tanks
People need to read. it's called the cascade 20 because it filters 20 gallons per hour, NOT because it's for a 20 gallon tank. it's for nano tanks up to 7 gallons and works great for that size. I added black sand to my tank and the water was very cloudy. I added this filter and the next day it was much clearer, the following day it was crystal clear. The cartridges are very small and probably would need replaced often but I plan on making makeshift replacement out of sponge filter media and maybe a little carbon. It looks nicer than some others and the water flow is gentle, which my betta appreciates. Sometimes the removable top rattles but if I move it a bit it stops and then it's super quiet. ... show more
