I am obsessed with my new Oura ring. First, it’s so fashionable and comfortable. I’ve already been complimented several times and I’ve only had it a few days. Its heart rate monitoring is accurate. I love that it can recognize what activity I’m doing and it’s correct! I was cleaning the house this past weekend and it recognized I was doing housework. Amazing!!!! Definitely buy the sizing bands so you can get the right size and correct fit. Oh and I love the comprehensive sleep and readiness scores. So insightful. Love this ring! ... show more

When I first put on the ring, I didn’t like it. It felt bulky and I was constantly changing fingers. Finally, after more than a week, I settled on the middle finger of my non-dominant hand. I sleep with it on, but I’m not sure how accurately it tracks my REM versus non-REM. I also JUST found the oxygen saturation metrics under the sleep screen. This ring does a LOT more than I initially thought. My ring is the polished silver and I am not having any issues with scratches or markings. The battery life seems good. I charge it about every 5 days or so. I like the sleep and activity reminders. The app is good and easy to use. It takes several days to track and store usable data for trends. Receiving and opening the Oura Ring 4 is an exciting experience. Packaging beautiful presentation with the new ring on a size exact charger or starts. Box does not waste paper on excessive paper. No waste or excess here. Initial setup is a breeze. The IOS app works first time no fuss. Ring is well made, beautifully crafted. It does fit snug if you use the size kit first and order the recommended size. After wearing the ring for 3 weeks the honeymoon ends. The overprice apps does collect your data and provide an evaluation based on a number of specifics metrics. However for a continuing monthly or yearly fee you really want more. Compared to my Apple Watch 9 and the iOS included Health App there is just no additional or little added information to display. On the plus side the Oura 4 does run 5 to 7 days on a charge. Apple watch is a recharge daily. If one accepts the fact a Oura Ring is not repairable once the battery is dead and the company treats her owners a source of auto renewable revenue, and Oura may be a good choice for you.     • Quite useful, despite some quirks

I bought the Oura 4 primarily to analyze my sleep, but I have ended up wearing it all day. I have an apple watch ultra that is fine for daytime activities. I thought the Oura would be better for analyzing sleep because it has the SpO2 sensors for oxygenation, and the battery lasts much longer after a charge than the apple watch. The information it gives me about the quality of my sleep is better than I expected, and I now have a better understanding of what my issues may be at night. It shows you when your oxygen levels varied during the night, which is useful, but one of its quirks is that it doesn't show you the actual timeline of blood oxygen values. I would really like to see the actual values and not just the periods of variability in a timeline. It does give the average value during sleep, and it seems to think my sleep is ok, which reassures me that I probably don't have sleep apnea. Also, I wore both my apple watch and the Oura for two nights, and they gave significantly different values for the total time awake during the night. From my own memories of waking up, the Oura seemed to be more accurate. Also, I came across a research study (paid by Oura) that compared it to the apple watch, and it claimed that the Oura was more accurate for judging time awake. My biggest surprise was today, when the Oura app told me that I was essentially under the weather and I should rest today. In fact, I haven't felt very well since yesterday. It was amazing to me that the Oura determined that. It said my nighttime temperature was elevated and my breathing rate higher than usual. But, in another quirk, it did not actually give me the numbers to back up these conclusions. Did Oura think I could not handle the truth? :) Oura likes to give general conclusions, like your activity levels are fine, your sleep was fine, etc, but it seems like it tries to avoid giving you all the raw data in some cases. I found that very annoying at first, but I am getting used to it. It does give you a time line of activity and HR. I have only had the Oura for a week, and the app has mentioned that it is establishing my baseline for the first couple of weeks. I assume that once the baseline is established, it will be able to tell me whenever I fall outside my usual range on different measures. That should be very useful. I didn't expect to like the Oura ring as much as I do, because I thought it might not provide much more information than my apple watch. But it actually does, at least during sleep. When I think I may be coming down with a bug, it is reassuring to know when the Oura thinks so too. It is also nice that I don't have to recharge it for several days. The Oura cannot replace an apple watch, of course, because it does not display messages and does not have access to apps that I use. The best of all worlds is to have both. ... show more
