I recently picked up the OtterBox DEFENDER SERIES SCREENLESS Case for my iPhone 12 Pro Max, and overall, I'm pretty impressed. As with other OtterBox products I've owned, the build quality is top-notch. The case provides a substantial amount of protection without adding too much bulk, and the grip is excellent, reducing the chances of accidental drops. Ports are easily accessible, and the buttons have a tactile feel. However, my only gripe is the screenless design. While I understand this allows for direct screen interaction and is great for those who have screen protectors, I miss the built-in screen protection that was a hallmark of earlier Defender series cases. I’ve been using OtterBox since the first iPhone came out! Yeah, I’m no young chicken anymore. So it’s safe to say I understand the differences between the sometimes confusing OtterBox Defender lineup models. The OtterBox pictured in the Amazon Listing is the “OtterBox Defender or Defender Series”. It’s one of the Defender cases in the “Defender series”. Now the problem I ran into and a few others is what case you might receive. As shown in my pics, the case has lines on the back, not that nice smooth look as the one pictured in the listing. This case as I received is the “Defender Pro” it offers just a weeeee bit more protection, supposedly! I’m not to fond of the Defender Pro because of the lines on the back. Hopefully OtterBox will do away with those lines just like they did away with that tacky plastic screen protector that used to be on the defender cases. However, hoping to resolve my disappointment, I sent that case back and arrives the replacement… Again I received the lines for days Defender Pro. At that point I gave up, lines it is. I will also point out, though this case is advertised for iPhone 12/13 Pro Max, it’s primarily for the 13 Pro Max. Notice how much space is shown around the camera frame with the iPhone 12 Pro Max as I have, whereas the 13 Pro Max camera frame would fill in the camera cutout. Good luck finding a defender case specific for the 12 Pro Max. I’ve been looking for that old stock for a while! Once the 13 pro max was released, there was no need to make a specific case for the 12 model. Overall it’s OtterBox. You can’t go wrong. The case is great, and practically indestructible, but I have yet to figure out how to remove my phone from the case after putting it on. Does not work with my magsafe car mount, which makes this issue a little more frustrating.

I had to replace my old defender otter box (no fault of the case itself). My dog got ahold of my phone and chewed up the silicone piece. Luckily the two plastic pieces were still in tact. Somehow this case still protected my phone from a 90 lb dog 😂 unfortunately you can’t use the case with just the two plastic pieces because the silicone outer piece is what allows you to click the side buttons. I have had this case since I bought my phone a few years ago and my gosh have I dropped this bad boy and even slammed it in my car trunk. I went ahead and replaced my screen protector as well (pictured above). Once I took everything apart my phone was still in PERFECT condition. Not a scratch or ding anywhere. I’m the type of gal who always enjoys her cheaper off brand products but when it comes to protecting a $1200 phone… otter box is your best option. Spend that extra money so you don’t loose out in the end. (Second pic shows the plastic pieces after my dog got ahold of it). It holds up I promise! ... show more

Spouse drops their phone on a near daily basis. Most of the time it falls anywhere from 6-4 feet directly onto a concrete floor. Between this case, and so many glass screen protectors, we haven’t had a damaged phone yet. Case generally last about 18 months before we replace it; and it’s always because the clip breaks. ... show more
