  • Work horse!
This thing is awesome! Setting it up was a breeze! Went through the steps to check if the lasers are aligned properly and straight out of the box, they were! We have been using it for about a year now and haven't experienced many issues. We did add air assist, and upgraded the lens. We also removed the bed and used one that has an adjustable Z height for larger materials (I recommend doing this!). Overall a very good bang for you buck purchase! ... show more

  • Updated: New replacement tube works great
Update: after contacting the seller, they promptly sent us a replacement tube, which runs great. Easy installation. Healthy and stable beam. Clean cuts. Happy kids. I hope this tube will have long lifetime ------------------- Purchased the machine in July, and have been using sporadically, once a week or so, for short low-intensity jobs (10% of laser power). Worked great when it was working. However, even with adequate cooling (the coolant temp has always been within the 18-20C range), the laser beam switched to the doughnut-shaped profile in November, i.e. useless for any kind of job due to the inability to focus the beam properly, and now the tube has to be replaced. ... show more

  • This is not for the faint of heart.
Mad Skills most definitely required. I knew going in that the assembly of these was shoddy at best but....wow. Out of the box the X axis was nearly unmovable. Had to remove the gantry entirely, disassemble it, unwarp it and then reassemble it just to gain movement. The Y axis bearing is horribly noisy and unlikely to last long. Plenty of stripped screws had to be replaced with better hardware. The red dot laser was not wired in....the ends were barely just pushed into a connector and fell out as soon as it was touched. The inside of the cabinet was dirty as are the mirrors and lens. Hopefully the tube is fine...going to be a bit of work to get this to the point of ven applying power. If you love fixing things, redesigning things and wondering how any of this can pass any quality assurance process then this is your baby. Edit: After several days of checking all connectors, repairing those found to be poorly crimped, etc., repairing the most glaring issue of no proper ground, replacing most of the screws on the gantry and mirror, reinstalling both temp meters because they fell out and aligning the mirrors it actually runs. I was able to confirm it is operational, laptop and k40 Whisperer can indeed control it. So in a nut shell....be prepared to rebuild this unit. It's a good parts kit, the case is good, tube is fine. Electrically dangerous until properly modified but....it will cut and engrave with a little work. You should be comfortable with soldering, mechanical skills, electrical skills and have a Macgyver Engineering degree. ... show more

  • You get a lot for your money
I had a project where I needed to cut a lot of acrylic pieces so I purchased one of these. I am very impressed with how good it works on 1/8" think material. Edges look great. Seems well made for the price you pay. Comes with ventilation tube and water cooling. You just need a bucket for the water. I would have given it 5 stars but didn't for two reasons. 1. It wouldn't work at first. I traced the problem to a bad solder joint on the lid safety switch. Easy fix. 2. Poorly designed bed. It seems that they could have designed a less expensive bed that could be adjusted up and down instead of a fancy bed that has a spring-loaded door, which is not that useful. I replaced that with a homemade one that works much better. Youtube has good ideas on how to do this. If you like to tinker, this is a great unit to start with. If you want something that you can put into production right out of the box, you will have to spend at least 4 times more money. ... show more

  • They did all the standard upgrades so you don't have to
Size: 40W
The OMTech K40+ (Plus is important) is not the cheapest K40 around. But this is because its packed with a bunch of features you'd otherwise have to sort for yourself if you bought one of the cheaper models: -Upgraded GRBL compatible control board so you can use Lightburn right out of the box. -Contact sensors that prevent the laser from firing when the lid or collection tray is open -Honeycomb bed. -Adjustible height lens so you can get the correct focal point without having to raise or lower the bed. -Included led light so you can see your progress -Height-adjustable feet to level the machine - Other options I've surely forgot to mention If I had to ding the machine for something, it would be the positioning of the collection drawer contact sensor. If the collection drawer is out even by a hair, the laser will refuse to fire and you may not know why. I wasted quite a bit of time trying to troubleshoot my laser not firing without any feedback that the answer was very simple, nudge the drawer in a bit. I can foresee a situation where vibration could also lead to it sliding out in the middle of a job. As long as you know about it, its not that bad of an issue. ... show more

  • OMTECH software doesn't work!
Terrible tech support, manual is very poorly translated and the photo illustrations are very small and difficult to understand.

  • Did come with rotarty
Size: 40W with Rotary axis
Arrived well packaged, had a slight issue but omtech fixed it without delay. Pleased so far. My unit did come with a rotary despite what another review said. It was packaged separately to keep it from thrashing during shipping and the UPS driver left the packages in different locations

  • OK BUT NOT GREAT
Size: 40W
It works but there are better machines for less money. I doubt that it is the power stated. Probably more like 30 watts. Very small work area. But I knew that going in. Won't know for a little while about durability and longevity. Customer service is slow to respond. If you are looking for a quality machine, I would look elsewhere. ... show more
