  • Great desktop laser engraver/cutter
Size: 50W
This was a upgrade from my diode laser. Well packaged with everything you need to get started. The only issue was the usb cables. These kept faulting out. So I bought 2 new cables and it worked perfect. Well constructed unit and a game changer.

  • worst investment for my business
Size: 50W
Starting with my review, I must mention that this is my first laser printer, and I conducted thorough research before making my decision. Based on positive reviews and its cost-effectiveness compared to the glowforge, I chose OmTech as my preferred brand. However, it turned out to be a colossal mistake. Upon revisiting YouTube reviews, I noticed that most of the people reviewing the Om Tech Polar had received the printer as a gift for their channels, which likely influenced their positive feedback. I should have considered this as a red flag, but unfortunately, I didn't. From the very beginning, the printer had critical issues, particularly with the camera, making calibration and use impossible. It took about a month to receive the replacement part from China, but even with the new piece, the printer still didn't work. I find it quite ridiculous that, after spending $3000 on the laser printer, they expect users to switch out parts instead of providing a fully functional unit. This printer is far from being user-friendly, especially for first-time users like me. Its operation is incredibly complex, and I've spent more time troubleshooting and trying to figure out how to use this machine than actually using it for my business projects. My intention was to enhance productivity and generate more revenue, but instead, this purchase has been a drain on my finances and has taken up valuable space in my workspace due to its uselessness. The only positive aspect I can mention about OmTech is their somewhat acceptable customer service. However, it's still disappointing that they didn't replace the faulty machine, choosing instead to make me wait for over a month just to receive a part that didn't resolve the issues. This whole experience has been frustrating and has had a negative impact on my business operations. ... show more

  • Nice machine!
Size: 50W
I received this machine one week ago and now comfortable to share my initial opinion. There were some issues with connection with Lightburn. First: if you already have Lightburn with your gcode machine you will need to purchase another license for DSP machine ($60.) The other issue was a bit irritating; after every job complete Lightburn would quit talking to the machine until I turned the machine off and back on. In frustration I installed the free software supplied with the machine and it worked fine. I do not know why but it also cured the Lightburn lock up issue. When I set up the machine I also changed the magnetic lens from American Photonics to make it easer to clean the lens. This created a problem with Lightburn's auto focus routine as the lens is a bit further from the material causing a change in focus distance. The auto focus is based on the upper point of the lens travel; for the stock lens it is easy, Just enter the thickness of material and you are good to go. This will only work with honeycomb in place; not useful for thicker material ie. bed out or rotary. In fact was necessary to run a focus test to find the correct distance from the top lens travel to the bed (in my case 22.2mm) and use the z-axis control in light burn to lower the lens to (22.2mm - thickness of material.) In my opinion this is a very nice machine; however, calling it auto focus is a bit of a stretch. ... show more

  • Have a little caution
Size: 50W with LightBurn
I bought this oMTech polar, not knowing a bunch about lasers and realize I don’t know anything about lasers. The machine comes very little instruction and needs some modification right off the bat. There is a big learning curve so you gotta really hunker in and learn how to use it, the software and all kinds of stuff, it will take you months to figure out but you’ll figure it out itself works fine it’s just not easy ... show more

  • You have to be willing to learn how to use this machine!
Size: 50W
The media could not be loaded. Number one is joining the Polar Users Facebook group! You will need help and advice. The camera calibration was horrible. There are videos that helped me do that. Some people have issues with their machines. Thankfully I did not (except learning how to properly use it) mostly user error are complaints I see, unless it was something random like a button falling off and I guess everything has issues now and then. Learn to clean it properly and order extra lenses, they are not terribly expensive at all. I upgraded the lens housing because I wanted an easier way to clean it. Cam is the admin of the Facebook group for OMTech polar and he responds promptly with any questions you may have. Also I have found the group to be EXTREMELY helpful and supportive. If you are not willing to figure out all of the components and safely use it, don’t bother…it is not plug and play like Glow Forge and you pay for less control of your machine, don’t think you’re going to pop this out of the box and start busting out products…you will be in a short period, if you are willing to LEARN the machine and troubleshoot if there are issues. I feel like I’m giving a fair review because I didn’t give up and send it back because I was not getting past the learning curve. Work pays off and I’d take this over a Glow Forge any day. I also got myself a chuck rotary, but it’s nice this comes with one to start out with. You can’t do that at all with a GF. ... show more

  • Love this laser!!
Size: 50W with LightBurn
I'm still learning but so far it's awesome. I have absolutely no experience with a laser and I'm finding it fairly easy to work with. There is a great FB community to help with any issue or questions.
