I purchased 2 of these solar flame lanterns back in the beginning of 2021. I'm happy to say they are still going strong and I'm very pleased with them (paid around $20 originally). I especially liked that the lanterns included the option to charge them via Micro USB from any phone charger, laptop, etc. However, recently I was notified they were on sale (for about $18) so I figured I'd get another set, and when they were delivered, I was UNpleasantly surprised to find that the USB charging port has been removed from the updated model. Other than that, it appears to be identical, and more than likely the battery capacity is the same, but I figured I'd write this review to let anyone else know who might also have purchased these before. Outside of that, they charge nicely via solar, and last thru the entire night, and I enjoy the simulated flame look (without the risk of catching anything on fire). ... show more

    • Going Strong After Two Years!
These hold an amazing charge even when they're not in direct sunlight for very long. Ours are tucked inside a hanging glass lantern, suspended from a beam on our covered back porch. They get a lot of indirect light, but not a ton of direct light, and they're still lighting up beautifully after two years of daily use. I didn't want to spend so much money when we first purchased them, but they're worth it, especially given the high fail rate of cheaper solar lanterns. They are not super bright, definitely more for ambiance than actual lumens. And they do have a very sensitive photo cell: if we turn on other party lights nearby, these promptly turn themselves off. That's the only real con, that they won't stay on for ambiance in the presence of other lights no matter how dim. Next to something bright like a porch light, they would definitely not work. But in the right (dark) contexts, they're great little decorative lanterns. ... show more

I saw these cool lights on a camping trip this summer and when I saw them on Amazon I thought I'd bite. Turns out they are amazing ! We set them up when we pull into camp in our van , everyone loves them. Love the fact they charge during the day and stay lit all night. There is no missing our campsite now ! ... show more

Liked the lights but why do they not send the USB cable with them or at least mention that USB works more efficiently. I guess because they are selling them as solar. I could never get a full charge with the solar.

I have been using these lights for a few years now for regular camping events. They have all survived everything from desert sand storms to snow and plenty of drops from ten feet onto the ground when dislodged by the wind. Of the eight I use only one has ever stopped working. I had two lanterns last year. I turned them off and stored them for the harsh winter months and recently turned them back on and set them in the sun for a day. Darkness came and they were as bright as last year! I was so impressed with their longevity that I ordered two more. Again, shipping was fast. I turned them on and by evening, they also lit up perfectly to enhance our patio setting. They truly look like flaming lights and work as described.
