  • Amazingly easy to use.
Color: 865R Red
Why did I wait so long to buy one of these? I loved it!! The suction cup held it secure to my counter top and I proceeded to work up a half bushel of apples. It takes less than 10 seconds to peel, slice and core an apple. Even a pre=schooler can run this. It's so easy and does an excellent job. I'm going to buy another for a friend. Thank you!!! ... show more

  • dehydrating apples? you need this!
Color: 865R Red
this works so nicely to core & spiral slice the large quantity of apples i had for drying this year & i am so glad i decided to get this machine! i didn't used the peeler part since i wanted my dried apples with the skin. i have a very slightly textured countertop in the kitchen & didn't think the suction cup would work very well so i intentionally bought the model with the clamp in case i needed it. to my surprise that suction device was rock solid on my counter & didn't budge once, what an excellent feature. apple season is over & i won't get to use the machine again until next fall, that is unless i decide to dry some onions or make scalloped potatoes which i might just give it a try! ... show more

  • A bit fiddly, but it works...
Color: 865R Red
First apple peeler. Out of the box I found the instructions vague if you're not accustomed to using one. For instance, I immediately wiggled something that made a spring fall off and could find no information in the enclosed booklet or online from the company describing how to fix it. Finally found a video of a different device from a different company, but the suggestions for repair still worked. So just be mindful because the operation isn't completely intuitive. And make sure you wash and dry immediately after use or you will get rust. Suction cup kinda works, but enough that I haven't yet tried the clamp. All in all, has made processing bushels of apples much easier and I'm glad I purchased it. ... show more

  • Fast, easy, and durable
Color: 865R Red
I bought this device when I started drying apples. This little guy makes it so fast and easy. Just pop the apple on and spin away. Catch the peels as they come off and toss them in the compost (or to your dog). Slide off the sliced, peeled apple and break off pieces to put on the drying tray. Slide off core and compost. Repeat. I spend much less time prepping apples for drying, plus it's much safer as there are no sharp peelers or knives for me to cut myself on. Clean up is a breeze. December 2011 UPDATE: I've been using this device for six months and it looks and works like it is new. It is well-made with a simple design, and I expect it will outlive me. I've been using it to make applesauce and can whip out a batch in under an hour. The thin slices cook quickly, so the sauce doesn't need much time on the stove. I love this thing! ... show more

  • Piece of garbage
Color: 865R Red
Ordered this last year, my first year EVER having apple trees and wasn't sure if it would work with suction or clamp...seemed like a good idea to have both options. Well, I used it last year flawlessly, despite the fact that they don't explain how all the little 'adjustments' work on the thing. I did notice the crank handle slipping some, but it never entered my mind that it would totally break. Now, I have 2 five-gallon buckets of apples to make a variety of fresh apple products. I got through about 12 apples when the handle that is attached to the crank shaft started to spin freely. I first thought perhaps a screw came out, but that is not the case. No screw. It's detached itself from the shaft, making using this impossible to peel my apples. Yes, perhaps I can 'super glue' it but since I'm in the middle of making apple butter and drying apple slices, that won't do. So basically, I would say this is a piece of crap, since I've probably used it a total of 4 hours since I bought it. I saw a similar one at the 'Evil Empire' (aka Walmart) and hope to buy one there, then switch this defective one out and get my money back. I don't have time to order another one!! (I do this all the time at the Evil Empire since they built a store right next to my house, didn't put adequate drainage in initially and our little development flooded as a result. Got a FEMA grant and had to take out a $20k SBA loan to fix the flood damage. We are NOT in a flood zone...it was Walmart! They fixed this about 2 months after we got flooded. I'm entitled to take advantage of them whenever I can... $20k loan... yeah, guys... I WILL piece by piece, get some of my money back!) VERY POORLY MADE AND ZERO INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO TWEEK THE SETTINGS!! ... show more

  • Ok machine
Color: 865R Red
A very strong machine. But very difficult to clean. I rather just use a potato peeler .

  • How have I lived without one all these years?!!!
Color: 865R Red
A friend at work told me a story about her daughter's teacher who kept one of these on her desk to encourage the kids to bring in healthy snacks - they got to use it if they brought in an apple! It looks sharp, but it is not at all - I would definitely let kids use it with help. So, we went to Apple Hill, CA, this last weekend and a I bought one - it is AMAZING!! In just a few cranks it gives you a perfectly cored, peeled, and sliced apple! You could even leave the skin on and just core and cut. The guy demonstrating it at Apple Hill put a finished apple on a kid's thumb and then poured syrups over it and wrapped her hands in paper towels so she ate an apple popsicle kind of - really fun. I already dehydrated a batch of slices and they are the perfect thickness - about 1/4 inch. The apple comes out in one big slinky piece, so of course my little girl loves putting it on her finger and gnawing it! I cannot wait to make my apple pie fillings tonight and freeze them for the holidays - saves so much time!! This week I also dipped the apples in 1 qt of water with 2 Tablespoons of vitamin c powder (just pure ascorbic acid)for 5 mins - and my little girl loved having her slinky apple at lunch without any brown! Just bought one for my sister... need to go see who else on my xmas list NEEDS one of these! ... show more
