  • A Pokefans Perfect System
Platform: Nintendo Switch Edition: Switch Let's Go, Pikachu! Bundle
I am incredibly glad I didn't buy a Nintendo Switch until this bundle came out. This is the best possible Pokefan bundle available for any fan of Pokemon - either 4 years old or 30 years old. The overall cost is slightly high, but Amazon offers great financing if needed (and if you qualify). Included: 1. Custom Pokemon Nintendo Switch with Eevee "-" Joycon and Pikachu "+" Joycon, and Pokemon Dock 2. Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee, 3. and Pokeball Plus. Review: 1. The system is amazing. The fact that there's one Eevee and one Pikachu Joycon is great in my honest opinion. The system also has pokemon etchings in the back of the screen, which is very neat little add-on for the fans that want something extra special with their purchase. The joycon clips for remote use are also color coordinated to resemble each pokemon's tail. The dock is just cute (which I don't care for, but my 4 year old is all about). 2. Pokemon Let's Go is a very nice pokemon adventure game. It is dramatically changed from the original gameboy versions, incorporating the mechanics of Pokemon Go. This game is very similar as the Pokemon Yellow version for Gameboy Color. It's targeted for the younger audiences and is an easy game to complete. There are extra things for endgame play, but there isn't much after. The game is a pleasure to play if you don't rush through it. My 4 year old is really into it, though his reading sucks and I have to help him on occasion. A 2nd player can join at any time to help catch pokemon or help battle - though that player can't do anything else and will be at the mercy of player 1. 3. The pokeball plus is a very interesting new toy. It's very easy to use in the game and functions very well. I actually prefer to play the game with this than with the joycon. There are some technical complications as it calibrates each time you toss it (make sure your arm is in the proper location before tossing the ball). It has tv protection built in, with a finger ring and wristband strap to maintain the ball on your hand. It's INCREDIBLY AWESOME how pokemon react out of the ball when you catch one, or that you can use this to walk your pokemon for xp and items when you decide to 'take a stroll' and play pokemon go. When using the pokeball plus for pokemon go, there are more complications. Sometimes it won't connect to the phone or it will disconnect randomly. I'm not sure how other plus items work, but my experience is that I fail 60% of catches. However, the ball automatically spins pokestops for you, which I think is awesome. The ball also lights up in different colors to show success/fail or what is happening. The hidden gem of the ball is that if you have a pokemon in the ball (let's say your pikachu from the let's go), the ball will light up and yell 'Pika! Pika!" so that you can play with your pokemon. This has really expanded my child's interaction with the pokemon universe (because AR in pokemon go already made him believe I met a chimchar in real life). Overall, a must buy for the die-hard fans, and a great purchase for other pokemon fans. ... show more

  • Fun, fun console, a joy to play!
Platform: Nintendo Switch Edition: Switch Let's Go, Pikachu! Bundle
Much better console than I anticipated, it just reeks of quality, and does not feel cheap. The Pokeball plus has a rubbery texture, which is comfortable to hold, and two buttons are streamlined into the design, giving it a real sharp look. The game needs to be downloaded via a code provided. I got the Let's Go Pikachu version, and while some features from Ultra Sun and Moon I do miss, there really are some definite improvements as well. -No random encounters, you can see all Pokémon from the overwork screen. -Eliminated most wild Pokémon fights, I found myself surprisingly not missing them at all. I would rather not beat random wild Pokémon to a inch of their life, and "boss" Pokémon will still need a fight, which fits imho. -HM system is improved. In past Pokémon games, you usually needed a "slave" Pokémon that had most of the HM's required to access every area. Now your Pokémon buddy takes care of that, free'ing a precious sixth slot in your party, and still keeps its normal four moves. MUCH better. -Adds a simplified Co-op system that wold be good for little kids. I would rather have more in-depth co-op, but it's decent for what it is, and the second player can come and go without hindrance. The only problem I had was connecting to Pokémon Go. While I was able to get an iPhone connected for transferring, no amount of fiddling would connect my Samsung Note. A potential biggie for POGO players. ... show more

  • Perfect Product, Watch for Price Gouge
Platform: Nintendo Switch Edition: Switch Let's Go, Pikachu! Bundle
This is a beautiful special edition of the Switch, worth every penny (although I spent more due to current price surging). Total value is about $400-450, based on individual components. The switch has subtle detail on the back (and front of the dock) that makes it special beyond the original device. And the special controllers are neat if you like Pokémon. Included pokeball plus is also fun to use, but not really easy. Downloadable game is also nice, although it takes up about half of the Switch’s memory: so buy a micro SD if you’re planning on having many games from download codes. Switch offers a lot of games, including remastered games from ~20 years ago, which makes it perfect for me and anyone trying to drown in nostalgia. The seamless transformation from TV-docked to hand-held version is also appealing for anyone who wants both versions of play. Also, the availability of auxiliary products, including additional controllers, adds more to to obsess over. ... show more

  • Gorgeous console with a fun game.
Platform: Nintendo Switch Edition: Switch Let's Go, Pikachu! Bundle
This console is beautiful!!!! I love the attention to detail on both the Switch and the dock. The joy con controllers are a bit weird for me, but I am definitely getting used to them. I have smaller hands, so they fit really well, but I can definitely see the gripe factor for larger handed people. There may be a silicon grip that would add some size to them to make them more ergonomic for people with big hands. I also adore the fact that I can play with my family on a few games. It is definitely a lot of fun. on Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu: I started playing Pokemon when it first came out. I had followed it through all the different gameboy versions, and still have a few of my original handheld consoles and the original games. I have to say, I kind of miss the annoyance of having to battle (or run from) every pokemon encounter and gaining XP that way. But I do REALLY like the fact that I can see the pokemon that have spawned in the overworld. I am purposely taking my time on the game, talking to everyone, and going into every building in the cities. I am even checking EVERY garbage can I see since I still remember finding cool stuff in the original games. I llike how you can dress up Pikachu now and he rides on your shoulder. Its very cute. What I do love is that I can let my 6 year old daughter play for/with me. She is learning about the strategy of the types, and their strengths and weaknesses. ... show more
