  • Very Nice Refurbished Lens
I was very nervous about buying a refurbished lens, but I set my reservations aside to get myself a new lens for a trip I will be taking in June. I immediately went to take pictures with it, and I must say I am extremely happy with this lens. It looks and feels brand new and the picture quality is impeccable. If someone had just given me this lens without any context, I wouldn't have even known it was refurbished. It looks and feels brand new. The auto focus works and the lens itself is in perfect shape. I use it with my Nikon D3100. Only time will tell with this lens, but upon opening, it is definitely a good buy.I took quite a few photos, but I will come back in a few months to update about the quality over time. ... show more

  • Steal
I am an entry level photographer who is just starting in photography. I started with the standard 18-55mm lens which came with the D3200 I bought. You can only do so much when you Max out at 55mm so I was looking to up my game without draining my wallet. I found this lens and almost couldn't believe it. It was half the price of most places I checked. When it was delivered it was packaged very nicely. It took about two minutes to get to the lens so I was pretty much guaranteed it hadn't been banged around on its journey to my front porch. When I first attached it to my d3200 it didn't recognize the lens and read 'no lens attached' so I took it off and was going to ship it back. The next day I tried it again just in case. This time it worked. The lens is built to last, very nice quality. It slides fairly well when zooming in and out. One thing however, it did NOT come with a lens hood so I was pretty bummed I had to go buy one after it said it came with one. This is a very loud lens. When the VR is on and you focus it, it makes a very high pitched beep. I have never heard it before but I'm just starting out and this is my second lens so maybe it's just me. I am extremely satisfied with the price, quality, and shipping of this item. My only con is that it didn't come with a lens hood. ... show more

  • Lightweight inexpensive zoom lens for long trips
VR, Vibration Reduction, is critical. I'd suggest the new Nikon 55-200mm VR instead. But, first read the next. This non-VR , and the 18 - 55 mm lens, together are a much better choice optically than a do-everything lens like Tamron's 18 - 200 mm. The Nikon two-lens combo has none of the heinous distortion of the Tamron, also both Nikkors together would cost the same as a do-everything lens. Of course if distortion doesn't bother you and you'd rather never change lenses, then have a look at the Tamron. For half the price you can get the 70 -300 G, which is more lens. I'd probably get the 70 - 300 G instead, since I want the longer zoom range although the 70 - 300 gets soft at 300 mm. Nonetheless it's a matter of taste, I already had the Tamron 18 - 200mm and the Nikor 55-300mm VR and each of them has its moment, this non-VR 55-200mm is the perfect lens for long multiple-day hikes in which you have to carry all you stuff and the photography time it's gonna be on really good day light so the VR it's not gonna be missed and the lens is so lightweight that is not gonna be a problem for your back. I already had it for like 6 month and I'm happy with it, I bought it Factory Refurbished for $99 here on amazon and is 100% perfect, alive and kickin' ... show more

  • Good lens for the price I got it
Even on bright days you want to be shooting this at 800 ISO or higher and at least 1/400s shutter speed if you want detail with minimal blur in your pictures if you're zoomed in all the way, at least that's my experience with it. Good lens for the price I got it, but besides shooting strays and some small live shows this won't be enough for animal and insect seekers. ... show more

  • Nice lens, nice price
This has been a very good lens so far. Great detail on both wide shots and closeups. My only complaint is that auto-focus is slow to react or won't focus when background is not sharp, as on a foggy day recently.

  • Great lens!
This is the first lens I've bought outside the 18-55 that came with my camera and I adore it. It's been refurbished in great condition and seems exactly like a new one! I've used it a lot at festivals and on my travels and adore the zoom and detail it can capture. Still very much learning how to use it but having great fun and no issues with it. Was delivered quickly and packaged well. ... show more
