  • Nice digital caliper for a great price.
Style: Stainless Steel Size: 6 Inch
I've been relying on old dial calipers for too long, but didn't want to spend a boat load of money on a digital caliper, so I thought I'd give these a go. I just finished laying out the fret dots on a new guitar I'm building and these calipers were great for that job and much easier than my dial calipers. They worked well for both for the top of the fretboard and the side dots. The accuracy is very good. My dad had an old micrometer with a 1.0000" standard disk, and this digital caliper was dead on. I also set the micrometer to a random value, and the caliper matched up perfectly. I would recommend these calipers. Two thumbs up. ... show more

  • accurate and useful
Style: Stainless Steel Size: 6 Inch
I have several of these. I calibrate them against a Starrett 1" standard and my mechanical micrometers. They are super useful and accurate. Although they are resistant to oil and dirt, a good cleaning will preserve the accuracy of the zero setting-regardless- They have been super reliable in my shop. You can pay a lot more for a Mitutoyo or other brand name (I have) but I guess I don't know how it could be an improvement. I buy these without reservation, along with other Neiko tools. ... show more

  • Very good for the price, accurate and durable
Style: Stainless Steel Size: 6 Inch
I bought these for basic home mechanic duties, measuring bearings, brake rotors, sheet metal thickness, etc. They do very well and seem to be quite accurate. I have tested them against my .0001 vernier calipers and they are as accurate as advertised (0.0005). The display is easy to read and the in/frac/mm readout is very handy. Only complaint, the battery life is not great. I think part of this is that they automatically turn on when the slide is moved. I think this results in them getting inadvertently turned on when they are knocking around in the toolbox (even in their case). As a result I end up having to change the battery a lot more often than I'd like. But other than that, these are great. ... show more

  • Easy to use, great value
Style: Plastic Size: 6 Inch
This is a basic but useful measuring caliper. I'm skeptical of electronics at this price but it works well, and I may get another to replace my analog vernier calipers.

  • Simple and effective Caliper set
Style: Stainless Steel Size: 6 Inch
I'm and engineer and constantly having to verify fit and clearances for new designs. Needed a good cheap caliper to take on job sites. This one has functioned well, easy to switch units if needed and durable. Case is tight so the calipers don't rattle around even after being in a bookbag for a month. Getting a few more for my other engineers to add to their tool kits. ... show more

  • I keep these around
Style: Plastic Size: 6 Inch
I work on motorcycles and atvs for a living and I'm constantly needing a caliper to measure something. This one is easy to keep on hand, accurate and low priced enough that it won't bother me if it gets broken. Good job on this item.

  • Highly inaccurate with non-repeatable readings (which change with no motion of the slide by the way)
Style: Stainless Steel Size: 6 Inch
I ***HOPE*** that I got a lemon, and it's a titanic lemon at that. First it arrived on and running in the box. The values on the dial were changing continually to random numbers. The reset button had no effect (as I later found out) also dd the in/mm button. So after learning that the reset button was useless, I removed the battery and gave the unit a minute or two "to relax" in case there was a small charge left in its circuits. Then (after 10 minutes actually) I replaced the battery, and was surprise that the unit turned on immediately (although I had very carefully avoided touching the on/off switch). Surprisingly the same random displays started up immediately but this time after using the reset (clear?) button several times and then holding it down for about 30 seconds, the weird behavior stopped and left me with a set of random digits that meant nothing that I could imagine. So I (a) removed the battery, (b) cleaned the unit thoroughly removing any oil/grease/water/dust/pollen/whatever from the unit (just in case) and put a second new battery in it and turned it on. It initially showed a random value but the reset button seemed to work (that was wrong but i hadn't figured that out yet). When it turned on I made sue (using the thumb wheel) that the caliper was pushed back in to the "0" position and hit the reset button. It then showed -0.03" (I didn't write down the last digit ... sorry), but after 5 (yes FIVE) resets it finally showed 0. So I tried to use it. I have a set of calibrated 1-2-3 set-up blocks (1"x2"x3" certified as accurate to withing +/- 0.0005") and none of the measurements was anywhere near the values the caliper should have shown. Specifically the 3" side showed as being first 5.9... inches then suddenly 1.23.. inches then some other random number. The other two sides were measured with equal inaccuracy. So why go on? Because I'm a retired physicist and I'm used to dealing with things that "don't behave in a rational way." [ever hear about quantum mechanics? Yes, it's that illogical.] To make a long story short the reading were random and they changed of their own volition while the caliper was sitting on a desk and nobody was touching it. I tried it with three different batteries, and the results were NOT all the same - no instead they were all equally, randomly incorrect. I sincerely expect that this is just a bad unit. But my last calipers were a really cheap set from Igaging (made of plastic at that) BUT those are still working just fine and with completely accurate, repeatable results (I still have an older manual set that may have come over on the Mayflower but is still highly accurate - I just prefer digital for ease of reading. But it's great for checking accuracy - and it and the plastic Igaging set always agree to with the limit of my eyesight (sorry - a magnifying glass and a bright light helps). So i will be returning this unit and am going to buy another set. But you can safely bet you life savings that i will not be buying another set from NEIKO Because this unit was so unreliable and inaccurate, I cannot recommend it to anyone who doesn't simply want a strangely-shaped paper weight. From my experience it is definitely not a good purchase. ... show more
