  • I love it; recommended by photographer
Size: 8in LED Panel Color: 5600K
I was recommended to purchase this light through a photography store - but it was cheaper here. The light is beautiful and bright. Easily put together and the legs fold up for storage. The only thing I wish is that there were some way to lock the legs into place while in use…but I move around a lot so it’s more of a me issue than the light issue. ... show more

  • Nice lighting but misleading specs
Size: 8in LED Panel Color: 5600K
The lights are quite bright for their size and the built in diffuser makes it very easy to set up for table/product shots without having to use a soft box. The stands that come with the lights are functional but not very robust. The biggest issue is that the product description and specs say that the LEDs are dimmable. This is not the case and I verified with the manufacturer's support line. I tried using a third party dimmer from Lutron and it does not work with these lights. This is a major shortcoming. I consider returning but I found the lighting so easy to work with that I have decided to keep them anyway. I might look at upgrading to the Compac 24 that supposedly is dimmable from the back of the light. ... show more

  • Simple design did the job
I didn't think I needed the adjustable color and dimming but it was great this had it. I was using it for streaming video and works well. I bought a Stand separately. I got 16". I think any smaller, the light would be dim. The size fits in my backpack so I can have it at home or bring it to work. I used the fovitec tripod which was okay - I think it needs a little more weight added to your tripod if you plan to shine the light upward, to cause the large panel to be off balance. It's fine if left stationary. ... show more

  • Small form factor, enormous benefit compared to full soft boxes
I use this [with a Nanlite Compac 24B] in place of three soft boxes that took up much more space. This item on a tabletop tripod is truly a soft box replacement, without the sharp light typically associated with LED panels. For Zoom meetings and video presentations, this lighting along with Fovitec pop-up backgrounds and a Logitech BRIO webcam, make my home office into a studio. I highly recommend this light panel, which contains brightness control and broad Kelvin range. ... show more

  • Great for headshots
Great lights for taking headshots. Plenty of power and good color rendering. Could use a handle for easier maneuvering when working with clients.

  • Excellent large bright soft light!
I bought a couple of these Compac 100s for product and food photography and like them a lot. I bought the 5600k version instead of the bi-color ones since these will be brighter at 5600k which is what I shoot at. At 100w per light these Nanlites crank out a ton of light, but it's nice and soft due to the large radiating surface. Much easier to set up and manage than typical softboxes. Regarding construction, I have owned LitePanels Astra lights in the past which are an industry standard in broadcast TV etc, and the construction of these Nanlites seems pretty decent by comparison. The entire exterior shell is solid plastic just like the LitePanels Astras yet feels pretty solid. Now the negatives for which I took off one star... These lights are top heavy and the yoke seems barely up to the task of holding the light when in any position other than vertical. For instance if you want the light horizontal you have to really crank the yoke very hard and it's still prone to slipping. The yoke design would be vastly improved with the addition of ridges or teeth so that it would lock in place better at different angles. One other improvement would be to inset the level knob so it's flush with the exterior of the light. It sticks out unnecessarily making the lights take up more space than needed in a case. It also seems like it could be broken off too easily. This is not as big a deal as the yoke, but it would improve the design. Overall I really like these lights. They are super useful for all kinds of studio photography, are very bright, soft, and overall a good product. ... show more
