This is a GREAT game! I've logged almost 500 hours into it. You don't need to know the first game to get into the 2nd, but for those who have played the first, seeing some of the characters becomes a little treat. The gameplay is great, not too challenging. It's reminiscent of Pokemon without feeling like a cheap clone, because it gets unique elements from the main series games, Monster Hunter.
