I installed two of these two or three years ago in a 40 year old condo, and had some issues with the receptacle, but was able to carefully improvise. I was able to buy dimmable bulbs in the color I wanted but the supplied bulb was fine. I loved them so much I got another one this week and the installation was super simple. Seems like there've been some quality improvements including supplying transparent plastic mounting screws. Nice touch. I chose these initially because they come unfinished, and this allows for many options to paint or decorate. I may caulk and paint this one too but since it's in a pantry I may not. If the screw holes bother you that much, cut a tiny piece of plastic or cellophane to cover the screw head, and use some plain soft joint compound to fill and smooth the repair, then paint. If and when it comes time to remove, you can easily use an awl or something to carefully dig it out and not worry about the patching compound being in the screw head. ... show more

I wanted fixtures that were "not part of the decor" I wanted sconces that did not draw attention to the fixture, just gave the perfect lighting. They can dim, be painted the wall color and provide the most lovely mood lighting. I am thrilled with them- have 6 in new finished rec room on a dimmer switch. VERY affordable . ... show more

Nice light great for small hallways or use as accent lighting.. Keep in mind it's yellowish light not bright light .Also you will need square box to install not smaller rectangular box. Though you can improvise.

My electrical box was not switched, so I decided to mount a pull chain switch on the light. Hardware store was out so I mounted a toggle switch. Short story long, I had to drill a hole in it and I was amazed how soft it was. I would recommend not doing this unless you can be really careful. I'm very happy with this light - it throws lots of light exactly where I want it to, but installation was a bit of pain. It was necessary to align the bracket (included) just right with a level to get the fixture straight, and also to shim it out about an 1/8th so the holes in the fixture would line up with the holes in the bracket. I don't know how washable plaster is so I handled the fixture only with the bag still on. The fixture does come with a glove you could use to handle it. I guess there is a lot you can do to finish plaster, but I will probably leave it as is. ... show more

It works fine, it's bright, and the LEDs are 2700K. I needed a low-profile sconce on short notice to replace an old fixture, and picked this because it was the most neutral looking one I could find with fast shipping. I'm keeping it but I wouldn't order another one. First, it is (as stated in the product description) actual gypsum plaster, which is soft enough that you have to be careful not to chip or gouge it while installing. I wouldn't trust the durability in a location where it could be touched or accidentally hit by anything. It's so soft that the metal mounting plates will likely gouge the inside when you install it, and the mounting screws that secure it to the plates are clear plastic, and very fiddly to get threaded correctly. Finally, and most importantly, there are no diffusers on the top or bottom. You can see the naked LED bulbs from above or below. This means that - if you have it mounted in a staircase as I do - you get very sharp glare when looking up at it. It looks fine at or just above head level, though, so I guess it depends on your use case. ... show more
