  • Great mini pc, even greater customer support!
Overall, this Mini PC is blazingly fast with it's 8 cores and 16 threads and with 32gb RAM it makes sure I always have enough memory to multitask efficiently. Easy access to the SSD (via 4 screws) makes it accessible to change out the M.2 drive with a higher capacity if desired. Noise is also significantly quiet compared to my last mini PC, and doesn't draw too much power in the process. I've had an easy time connecting a wired audio interface (speakers) and with only one monitor with an HDMI port it was pretty fast setting up. The GPU (AMD Radeon 680M) is pretty good for lightweight gaming and amazing for 4k video playback. Review on Customer Support: When the unit first arrived it was working perfectly. Within 2 weeks after I received the computer it had started to show signs of issues, most notably with the way it handled video playback and other basic tasks. When I got home from work one day it refused to boot into Windows, and soon discovered from the amazing customer support team over at MINISFORUM that it was an issue with the motherboard, to which they treated it as a defective unit. The customer support team replied within a day of my response and soon transferred me to the US MINISFORUM contact via email, to which I uploaded pictures/videos of the computer refusing to boot. They offered to send me a replacement unit free of charge, all I had to cover was the cost to ship the unit to them, and they would cover the cost to send it back to me. Needless to say if I ever have to buy another SFF (small form factor) PC again, MINISFORUM will definitely be my go-to! ... show more

  • Great little machine
Style: HX99G(64+1T)
I got the HX99G, with 500gb nvme and 32gb ram. I’ve been holding off a review ever since I got it so I can spend as much time possible with it before giving it a review. I’ve gotta say, I love it. I had a custom build pc with a i9 and a 3080ti and I downgraded to a smaller machine to make my setup cleaner and I am very very happy with it. Something to note is they say HDMI can do 4k60 but with a HDMI 2.1 cable I get 144hz out of my 4k resolution. This machine is VERY quiet by the way. Performance: Coming from a i9 and a rtx 3080ti I wasn’t expecting crazy frame rates at high settings BUT BOY WAS I WRONG. Every game I play is not maxed out at 4k cause that would be absurd for this pc. Like I said I have a 4k 144hz monitor. However maxed out at 1080p and even 1440p in most games is not out of the equation, and just cause I can’t run every game 144hz 4k ultra settings doesn’t mean I’m not using 4k! I am still using 4k in quite a lot of games. I also went into the bios and disabled the iGPU. Average fps on games I played: Fortnite 4k: 80-120fps (mostly above 100) with low/competitive settings and render distance max The last of us 1080p: fsr enabled solid 60fps with optimized settings I got from YouTube, was very surprised about this one as this game is very unoptimized Rust 1440p: 60-80fps with a mix of medium and high settings Minecraft 4k (Java and bedrock): 144fps locked ultra settings with render distance at 16 for Java and max on bedrock Marvels Spider-Man 1440p: fsr enabled 80-120fps ultra settings and 4k at high constantly above 60 average of about 70ish fps. MW2 (2022) 4k: fsr enabled low settings was getting 120-144fps Upgradability: Ram and storage is simple, just swap what you want just make sure it’s sodim ram and nvme storage, also there is 2 nvme slots, i through in a Samsung 970 evo 2tb I had lying around. Just make sure you get heat sinks for these because they overheated on the last model. The HX99G comes with heat sinks pre installed on the ram and nvme that it already comes with however so overheating there should not be a problem on this unit and hasn’t been for me. Thermals: This was tested under Celsius. Cpu usually stays around 35-50 and under load of gaming usually doesn’t go passed 75 degrees, however something to note is it didn’t go past 72 until I installed the second nvme ssd, which I believe may be is directly behind the cpu, either way cpu temps don’t intimidate me and should be good for long run. Gpu is about the same story, usually stays around 35-50 as well and under load of gaming usually stays around 65 degrees. Ssd and ram were at good temps too since they all have thermal pads on them. Overall, I’d say it’s a solid machine and you should give it a try if you’re looking for a smaller pc, performance is very solid. I sold my beefy desktop and replaced it with this with no problems so far. ... show more

  • It's ok, for the specs. Does the minimum.
I got the R5/32 GB RAM. It's ok for the specs. I needed something to make videos for teaching. I am also running Hatch with it. It runs ok, but could be a bit better. However for the specs I got what I expected. I just didn't want to spend a lot of my own money to use mostly for work. It does run my video graphics tablet well if that is important to you. This is my first mini system and one thing I didn't consider is that there just aren't enough USB ports because you need one for mouse and one for keyboard and then you're out of luck after that. I had to add an adapter to get more ports. So be aware that you'll need the adapter if you want to plug in more than a mouse and keyboard. ... show more

  • Lightweight and Powerful
Style: HX99G(32+1T)
I've had the HX99G for about a week or so now. In that time I have fully reconfigured the system a couple times and ran a few tests in the process. These are my findings. What I like: I can not emphasize enough how fast this thing is. I was able to run BG3 and Total War Warhammer 2 at max settings @1080P. Blender runs great as well. The quality of materials is also readily apparent. This thing is covered in carbon fiber, the cooling solution is both quiet as a mouse and very effective. The minimalist design includes everything that matters while trimming off every gram of fat. There is a ton of I.O. allowing you to connect more pariphary devices than you could possibly need. It is very easy to access the RAM & SSD What I dislike: The BIOS feels like an afterthought. A UEFI would have been great. The software surrounding this device does the trick but doesn't stand up to the expectations set by the hardware. The drivers are not .exe for the most part. There is a WAN driver on Minisforim's website that is an .exe It's in Chinese but you don't have to read it to hit next.🤷🏼 (I realize this is probably more convenient for Linux users but still. Once you have internet, the AMD Adrenaline tool can get all your drivers in order.) Last thing, I would have liked a micro SD card reader and a Kensington Lock. Final thoughts, while the BIOS is mediocre and the driver support is adequate, these things are vastly overshadowed by the excellent build quality, thoughtful design and the powerful yet efficient hardware. ... show more
