I usually never write reviews but this deserved one. This is SO much better than I expected! It took me less than 10 minutes to set up (including removing the packaging). It literally just unfolds. It seems pretty sturdy.. I got in halfway to feel it out & it didn't creak or bend or anything. It holds my 50lb fur baby no problem (I got the Large size). This house IS NOT made for winter. It’s design is great in that it unfolds and sets up easily. However I bought it as a cat house for the winter and the floor has slats (not a solid piece) with small gaps in them (you can see thru them) and even a good size finger hole to easily raise the floor when folding it back up. So the floor has to have extra pieces of some material to cover these gaps. They say this is for “air circulation” but only during the summer would you want that much air moving thru. I insulated the floor (and the entire house) on the inside with a roll of Reflectix roll insulation from Lowe’s. I’m also having a larger top overhang installed by a woodworker as the one it comes with is only 1 1/4”. So while it is a great basic design, it could certainly be improved upon. For the price ($132) for the small house, it has taken a lot of modifications to make it winter ready which makes it a poor value. I also bought the Trixie Pet Products plastic door to cover the opening and it’s just the perfect size for the door opening and it was only $6.62. I needed a house in a hurry during a cold snap around Christmas. It came very quickly at I time I really needed it. So I am thankful it gave me something to work with but overall the price seems high for all the additions I needed to make to deem it winter ready. ... show more

Original review, 5 stars---It's an ingenious design... you just pull it open, accordion style. I'm a 64 yr old single woman and did not have to assemble this. I even lugged it by myself from the front yard to the back. This is excellent as I live in a hurricane state and will have no problem simply closing it up and bringing it inside during a storm. Because I live in a hot, humid, climate I love that the it's got a slatted/ventilated floor both to reduce heat and "spills." The whole top flips up and back over on itself so it's very easy to clean. The outside of the top is covered in asphalt shingles just like my roof. The roof is slighted slanted so water will run off the back. The top also extends over the entrance by an inch or two to cover that. I don't have a dog that I'd make sleep outside, I got this to help out a cat colony I'm working with (yes, all are spayed/neutered). I carried it from the front yard to the back, set it down to get the camera and came out and saw the cats giving it four paws approval. The shingles were a big hit for cat scratches. Edit...I got this in May 2020, it's now August, 2020. It's only 2 1/2 months old. It was outside, under a tree. Hurricane Isaias is heading towards me so I went out to bring this inside. As soon as I opened the lid (first time since placing it) I saw the wood on the back of the top was warped, rippling, etc. I then pulled up the bottom piece and it would not collapse as it did when it first arrived. I looked and saw it was because that wood was warped and no longer fit along the back. For the last couple months that I've had this, I've peeked inside to make sure it was clean, but never tried to collapse it or lift the lid so I was totally caught off guard by this. If, in less then 3 months outside, it has started to break down and warp, I have no confidence this will last very long at all. Thought I should update this review and let you know. ... show more

After reading the product details and reviews I felt this was the perfect doghouse for my beloved dog. I purchased the doghouse for large dogs. My dog is an 80 lb. dog. It arrived as promised by Amazon. I am a petite woman so I did have to ask my exterminator man to bring the package upstairs so I could unpack the box to place the doghouse where I wanted to put it. It was very easy to unpack and setup. I also purchased the insulation kit which was very easy as well to setup. I was really happy with my purchase and wanted to share my purchase with Social Media and made a post along with a picture of my happy dog. On my Social Media post I had 2 of my friends that had purchased the exact same doghouse who were not happy with the doghouse for the amount of money they paid because both stated the bottom fell out of the doghouse. I wasn’t that concerned and was still happy with my purchase as was my dog. However, last night the bottom fell out of my doghouse as well. Today, I am trying to figure out the best way to repair the floor in the doghouse. The problem lyes in the fact that when the doghouse floor is let down to secure it, there is only a small lip for it to sit on with no other reinforcement. I believe having small “L” shape brackets on the sides and front would alleviate the problem with the floor falling through. That’s my plan to correct the design flaw for this particular doghouse. Something the designer should take note and correct especially for the cost of the doghouse. My dog absolutely loves his new doghouse so I must make corrections to ensure he is happy!!!! I am positive that this has happened to other buyers and if the manufacturer has a remedy I would certainly like to know about it or if a repair kit is available I would like to know about it. ... show more
