I needed a multimeter to keep tabs on my newest solar setup, so I decided to order the 9999 Counts version of the MESTEK DM100C. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and believe that it is worth what I paid for it. The first thing I noticed about this multimeter is how easy it is to use. The screen is large and the numbers are big and clear, and the dial settings are well-labeled and each setting is easy get to. I was able to start using the multimeter right out of the box without issues. I have also found the accuracy of the multimeter to be very good. I have used it to measure a variety of different things, including voltage, resistance, and continuity, and the readings have always been within the expected range. It's reassuring to know that I can rely on the readings that this multimeter gives me. The build quality of the multimeter is also very good. It feels solid and well-constructed, and the cords are long enough for me to reach most of the places I need to. It also comes with a built in flashlight, which can come in handy in a lights out type of situation. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase of this digital multimeter. It has exceeded my expectations in every way and has quickly become one of my go-to electric related tools. I would recommend it to anyone in need of a reliable and accurate multimeter. ... show more

Seems to work well on as an ampmeter. With it clamped to the 12b battery cable I found about .9 amps, after pulling active fuse went to .3 amps, pulled another fuse and got .02 amps. All of the readings seem probable and useful. Also tried it on 230v ac. Read 9 amps which also seemed reasonable. Read DC volts on Arduino Uno. 5.04 and 3.31. Both readings seem reasonably accurate ... show more

    • Works well to find a large parasitic draw, but not very accurate below 300mA DC.

This meter works well to find a parasitic draw in automotive applications if the draw is large enough (above 300mA). Below that amount I found the accuracy to be questionable. I also had to select DC every time which is a little annoying. The clamp meter would give me a different reading depending on the orientation - sometimes over 80mA different just by rotating it around the cable 90 degrees. If I calibrate the meter right after turning my car off and clamp it to the negative cable, it measures about 1100-1200mA which is relatively normal for my car. After 5 minutes when the various systems of the car go to sleep, it showed 200mA. I took the clamp off, calibrated it again, and put it back on. It then showed 30-40mA. Turning it 90 degrees caused it to show 85-100mA. When I measure the same thing with a more expensive multimeter directly wired, the current is usually between 25-35mA here. Also, on the 2A setting, anything above about 1400mA would cause it to display the limit error (when it should be able to go to 2000mA). Overall this would be helpful to find a parasitic draw only if you have a relatively large parasitic draw. For more precise measurements in the lower milliamp DC range, I would say this is just not that accurate. ... show more

I found that when testing for key off 12 volt DC current draw on cars and trucks, the best zeroing of the 2 amp DC current mode with the least varied reading and most accuracy was pressing the zero button with the clamp closed but touching the end of clamp to the negative or positive battery cable in the same location I was going to connect the clamp. When zeroing the 2 amp scale when held in the air away from car the reading would not stabilize. Touching the end of clamp to cable when zeroing would give a steady unwavering reading and accuracy very close to my DVOM meter connected in series to either disconnected battery cable. On one particular vehicle using my DVOM connected between the battery post and cable end I was seeing a steady .038 amp draw. With the clamp meter as zeroed per above instructions it was showing .034 to .040 amps. Close enough to determine that was an insignificant draw. Good accuracy for the money. ... show more
