  • Pretty quiet, circulates air better than expected
The media could not be loaded. It's pretty quiet. Pushes air pretty good, but not overwhelmingly to the point of annoying if you're standing under it. My last fan in my last van was a dometic, which worked really well but it was rather loud, and it was more like a tornado. But I should also note that Van was smaller. The remote is a lovely convenience. This fan has 10 speeds, and it reads as percentages on the remote screen. I've only used mine as air intake, haven't tried the exhaust function, don't really care. Overall quality, damn good. Very happy with it. For fellow Vanlifers, make a very strong note of having somebody with solid experience do the install. If the job is half assed, and it leaks water, you'll have mold in your future. Very very important that it's sealed correctly. ... show more

  • I need to seriously upgrade my poor review. Unit is great!
I can't believe Maxxair has so many great reviews. I spent hours just removing my existing standard air vent from my motorhome and cleaning off all the old caulking so the Maxxair would fit snug. Installed the new Maxxair deluxe, caulked it onto my roof, wired it and decided to test it out before installing the beauty ring on the bottom inside ceiling. Lo and behold it worked for about 3 minutes then it automatically lowered the hood and shut off. No matter how many times I tried to turn it back on with the remote or the on button on the unit nothing happened. Then I read some other reviews only to find many are having the same problem. It seems Maxxair failed to install a voltage regulator on these fans and they can only handle 12 volts and no more. People with RV's like mine that have solar panels push the voltage up to 13. 8 volts which causes the fan to automatically shut down! How dumb is this. Since I bought this off Amazon late last year right before the nonstop snow fell here in Utah, I didn't have the weather to install it until today. It has been raining daily non stop for most days this year in Salt Lake. So now I am stuck with a lemon and am wondering what I can do? Update I apologize to the manufacturer of the Maxxair. I simply had the fan wired incorrectly. The unit once wired to the correct DC wires runs like a champ! We took our RV dry camping in the mountains last week and the ran worked flawlessly. ... show more

  • Skip the $160/hr in labor that an RV shop charges & Install this fantastic fan yourself !!
End Result - this fan is fantastic ! It has forward/reverse in 10 different levels to either pull in air or push air out. We installed right out of the box over our front bedroom in our Travel Trailer. Honestly, the most time consuming part of install is the de-install of the existing vent !! You just have to take your time & not be in a hurry to gently pry up the weather-gooo that protects the ridges from rain. You'll ruin your rubber roof if you try to be a gorilla with it. Be gentle in removal ! Press down on the rubber roof while removing the old vent. The actual install of the new MaxxAir 7500 actually went pretty fast. Warning -- the metal clips that the base fan actually screws into (into the shroud) are adjustable up or down - so at first it looked like it didn't line up correctly. But I figured it out by raising the metal clips up an 1/8" and then the holes lined up & everything screwed right in. AND -- you will need to be aware of where your your 12v line is (not 110v circuit !) Our roof had a 12v circuit about 1 foot in from our Vent hole & I just reached in and spliced into that. Ours had a green/white wire (positive) & white wire (ground). Pretty simple electric splice. Our friendly RV store told me it would be about a 4 hour job....at $160/hr ! No thanks !! Anyone that can read directions, be gentle prying up old glue with a plastic scraper, has basic electric skills knowing that Positive connects to Positive and Negative to Negative Can Definitely Do This Job !! It took me about 3 to 4 hours because I was being very careful. I bet I could do it in 2 hours, if I did it again. Bottom Line -- we love this fan ! And it will come in handy Big Time when we don't have Electric hookups. It is made to run off your 12v Battery circuit and it has a really nice remote to boot ! Love it ... show more

  • In my opinion, remote control waste of time.
Easy installation great fan and pretty quiet negative on the remote as you have to have it right under the fan before it turns it on or turns it off. Not really convenient.

  • Great purchase/game changer!
We watched this fan for weeks as the price fluctuates by literally hundreds of dollars! We eventually got it for $310 (usd), which we were happy with at that time. I waited several months to test it and make sure it runs as it should before posting my review. We mounted on a 1996 GMC Vandura G3500, and mounted another MaxxAir fan (4500k?) in the front as well, to vent our cooking fumes/smells. Also, you do NOT have to use Dicor or Sikaflex!! You don't want any kind of silicone on your roof being constantly exposed to UV rays and weathering. So used white 3M 5200 sealant, which is a sealant and Adhesive which is used on expensive yachts/houseboats. It is the absolute best thing for these applications, as we have had bad experience with Dicor (after many years of rv'ing/etc). It's your choice but I'd rather spend a few extra bucks for the best. We haven't framed our fan in yet but they make it easy, even if you've never done it before. The remote seems to only operate the fan in "auto" mode, but maybe I'm doing it wrong too. I haven't checked yet because it's easier to just use the on-fan manual controls. We love everything about the setup though and it runs wonderfully. There is a slight noise, but its mostly just air moving. It will create a great amount of air movement in you set them up correctly. We would recommend spending the extra and getting this fan. It's truly worth it and makes a world of difference. ... show more
