  • awesome for homeschooling kids
Edition: Standard Edition
The media could not be loaded. It had been a real struggle homeschooling kids as we, as parents, never had to spend so much time with them like right now. As we all know, kids they get bored so easily and always want to jump on new things, play new toys, read a new story, etc... so for us having to come up with list of activities and lessons for them had been much harder than our actual day jobs. A friend of mine suggested us this coding set and it's such an amazing intellectual toys for young kids. As an adult, I think it's an awesome toy but offer much more than just fun, it helps kids learn about directions/motion, learn what is a loop and how does it start and when does it ends, help them navigate through obstacles, decision making and choosing appropriate controls to use, etc... It's one of those toys that everytime they play, they could feel like it's a brand new game and challenges, not repetitive, thus very intriguing to them and help with their creativity. The actual robot itself is also super cute, has funny sounds and voices, and also cool songs and melodies. There are many different add-on that i can buy too but they're kinda a little pricey but i guess it's a good investment for your kid's future if you want to guide them toward an engineering and science career. ... show more

  • Great coding toys
Edition: Standard Edition
This is a great toys, it teaches him how to think and plan out his goals. He can be creative as much as he want or he likes to be totally random as possible. He has gained confidence as he wrote code and instructions to move the robot on the screen across various courses. He loves completing the missions and meeting the objectives. This is a great toy and provides a nice introduction to programming for kids. This will definitely work on his cognitive thinking at an early age. I think it's a great toy for all young toddlers. All the parts are in excellent quality, comes with a storage case, instruction book. The instruction was easy to follow but definitely an adult helping would be recommended. This coding toy he will learn basic coding concepts thru hands on play. He would need to used the command forward, backward, left, right turn. It was a challenge for him at first and he was frustrated but he never gave up and now he loves it This is an advanced computational thinking, recognize pattern and generalize patterns using loops and functions to solve complex problem. Overall, this is a great education learning toys. I definitely recommend this, it's worth it more then any other toys I ever got him. ... show more

  • Really Cool Tool for Critical Thinking Skills - For Younger Kids Only
Edition: Standard Edition
My kids wanted this so bad, they pooled their own money to purchase it. They are 7 and 9 years old. Although it was really cool and worked exactly as advertised, the "fun factor" wore out for them very quickly. Once they mastered the concepts and ran a couple of programs, they quickly became bored. Total play time wasn't more than a few hours before they put it down forever. I think it would be great for much younger kids, but for kids at the top of the "for ages" range, it's a no-go for us. A couple value negatives are 1) The music tiles weren't part of the package. For the massive price, these might have extended the fun time a little. 2) It only came with one charging cable, but two components require charging, and the charging cable is something non-standard. One positive is that Dad (me) was amazed at the technology that went into this toy. It worked flawlessly. ... show more

  • Big birthday gift!
Edition: Standard Edition
The media could not be loaded. This was a gift for my 5 year old for his birthday. he’s very smart and his preppy k teacher recommended I look for a stem code that could teach him basic coding because he’s really into it in his computer lab class. my son has been having a blast with this little robot and creating his own codes that the little robot obeys from the control tower. The robot moves forwards/backwards/sideways and spins. There are codes for music, songs and dancing and it comes with a double sided mat to create mazes and obstacles. The set we got comes with three booklets and eases your child into it naturally. i’m glad this was recommended to me because I know nothing about coding and as we know computers and tech are the future and something our children can learn to be successful while also challenges their brain. ... show more

  • Great introduction to coding for children
Edition: Standard Edition
The Matatalab Robot is very user friendly for children to even use! Suitable for kids ages 4 and older! The keys have arrow images that represent left and right turn, and moving forward in case children have not yet learned their letters or how to read words. It comes with obstacle walls, a board, keys, as well as a tower to send directions to the robot. The robot was very adorable and the colors were very engaging. I am a Kindergarten Teacher and I teach in a Computer Science Immersion School and have started to introduce this robot to my students. They are very excited to continue learning how to create codes for the robot. Some of my students have not learned their letters yet so this is a great way for them to be able to learn the concept of coding even though they do not know how to read words to input codes. The robot even creates music as well as lights up. Highly recommend the Matatalab Coding Robot even for at-home use! ... show more

  • Better than expected!
Edition: Standard Edition
We purchased this for our 3.5 year old as an introduction to coding. We love that no extra device or app is needed. We are learning with our daughter as we go as well. She is a quick learner and loves to learn, so we felt comfortable purchasing this for her. It took a few times for her to begin having some understanding of the concept of coding. It’s fun for her and even for the adults. Highly recommend as a first coding game for young kids. ... show more
