  • Complete Overview! (Pros/Cons)
Color: Bright White
The media could not be loaded. I purchased not only the white polygel but also the markartt green polygel kit. The green nails I did were my very first ever set of polygel nails! Polygel is super beginner friendly and I highly suggest it. My second set I painted over with regular polish (red and sparkles). And my most recent set I did with the white polygel as well as the clear that came with my kit. I also decided to buy some gel polish and gold flakes. I have never done nails before and I gotta say that I think they turned out really well. The polygel was strong and lasted about 5-6 weeks. Pros: -Beautiful colors -super adaptable -beginner friendly -not overly time consuming -long lasting -light weight Cons: -I recommend getting an electronic file to help the removal process. (Otherwise it takes ages) -dual forms get super sticky afterwards and are difficult to clean. (Soak in nail polish remover) -with mixing the pigmented polygel and the clear polygel you run the risk of your nails breaking easier. (Not practical; stick with one color and then adding design on top) Breakdown of each set: Set 1; Green polygel kit My first ever set of polygel nails! I was so excited about this kit. However, I was super upset because I had paid for two day shipping and it took three weeks to arrive! Although the polygel took forever to arrive, the lamp I purchased on the same day from markartt only took one day to arrive. Altough the shipping was inconsistent everything arrived unscathed and I was super excited to do my first ever set. This set took me about 3-4 hours. I ended up taking a little dotting tool and regular dark green polish to decorate the nails. I gotta say that on my first set, my nails were super thick. To thin out the underside of my nails after curing I had to use an e-file. I was nervous to use and e-file because I’m not a professional and I gotta say after doing a few sets I am glad I have it. Set 2; Red & Sparkly The red sparkly set I did, I used the white polygel as the base. This set was super simple. It took maybe 3 hours including the red and sparkle polish on top. Super simple. Set 3; Clear/White Marble + Gold This set was by far my most complicated one. I had an idea in my head to make clear and white marble nails. After finishing the set I realized that just the clear and white looked kinda funny and I wanted to do something dramatic with them. I went ahead and purchased some gold and rose gold flakes as well as a gel polish set. I used the markartt base polish as a type of glue for the gold flakes and it worked really well. And then I used the gold glittery gel polish for my accent nail. Although these nails were beautiful, they didn’t last as long as my first two sets. I think the combination of the clear polygel and the pigmented polygel mixed together made the nail loose structural stability. I think that using two different pigmented polygels would probably work better. The clear polygel is just a slightly thinner consistency. These nails took about 4 hours to do, but only lasted 3 weeks. ... show more

  • Let the polygel do the work, it's faster
Color: Siesta
This formula has a medium-thick consistency. No bubbles. Since this gel is self leveling, I relaxed my hand and just pointed my finger towards my forearm for 20-30 seconds to settle the apex naturally. To prevent it from being to thick, I lightly tapped my finger on my table. I was able to see where I needed to push the gel or draw out the shape more. This made shaping, and buffing later, easier and faster. I recommend that you don't fight the gel, let it do its thing. The more you fight it, the more buffing you have to do later and frustrated you will be. This is not acrylic, don't treat it like it is. In the moment it may seem to take forever but it's not. I averaged 1 minute per nail plus UV light curing time. I used paper forms and 70% alcohol. I also recommend a nail dehydrator and gel basecoat, not primer. I tried using a primer and it immediately lifted clean off and it was sliding around. The gel basecoat functioned better and a week later, no lifting. Lingering stickiness was not an issue, removed fast and easily with the alcohol and wipe. Worth the price because I found I wasn't wasting product (except for the 2 casualties with the primer). No odor and since I let the gel do the work, less dust. Color is as shown. ... show more

  • Clear
Color: Clear
Clear and easy to use. My nails look horrible but I'll get there. Don't forget your slip solution sold separately.

  • Love!
Color: Clear
I love how sturdy the formula is. After curing I have no worries that they will bend or break. The clear color is also great as it helps to show any application issues. The only downside is I feel it’s harder to get out of the container, but not impossible.

  • My favorite polygel now!
Color: Natural Pink
When I first bought this product, I thought it was really difficult to use compared to other polygels/acrygels I'd tried. My favorite for the 2-3 years I've been doing my own nails was the Urban Graffiti brand sold by Naoi Nails (if you haven't checked out her YouTube channel, DO). Which was pretty pricey as I had to order from the UK. When I tried the Makartt one I found it incredibly sticky and difficult to use and only used it once. I came back to it some time later, because I wanted to do clear nails with a design, and so bought a Makartt clear in spite of not having loved the consistency, because it was less expensive and easier to get. After a couple of sets, I've actually really come to prefer it! So I went back to my translucent pink that I originally bought. I find it's easier for my non-professional-skills to get it closer to the cuticle without being too thick, and I actually think it's easier to smooth. I spend less time filing the shape of my overall nail than I did with any other polygel. Now about 6 weeks later, I'm also finding that my nails are lifting less! I just did 3 weeks on my last set and no lifting. Unheard of for me. Could be that I've just gotten better in application over time, but I'm sure some of it must be the quality of the product, as my prep technique hasn't changed. It also files and adheres to my natural nail better, so much so that I've actually been able to grow out my natural nails instead of just always building tips, so I'm now using it as an overlay. I could never grow my nails long before. Usually once my nails would start growing, filing the sides would be really difficult, or the polygel would start peeling away as my nails curved (my nails naturally curve more as they get longer). I know part of this is my technique getting better (my filing and shaping skills are definitely better). But I'm positive part of it is the Makartt polygel. I just did my nails with translucent pink Makartt and black tips, and they look incredible! ... show more

  • Nice but sticky
Color: Light Nude Pink
I like the color, cures well, and is easily filed ( I use an efile to smooth the top and hand file to shape) but VERY sticky even with alcohol. I ended up just glooping it on and filing to smooth and shape, because it was impossible to move around and get it even with a brush. I will say it is strong and holds up well as extensions, but application is messy and difficult. ... show more
