Since the hitch on our cart for our Cub Cadet is C-shaped and wraps both above and below the hitch plate on our Cub Cadet, the very strong magnet of this hitch pin is more than sufficient to hold it in place without the clip. If I am moving our cart around by hand using this hitch pin as a handle, then I do need to add the clip as there is no “stop” that affixing to the mower plate provides. ... show more

IF you have ever fumbled with typical hitch pins and the clips that hold them in place, you know what a nuisance they can be. Especially when one gets dropped in the dirt, grass, or sand and you need a metal detector to find it. For anyone that uses a small tractor or lawnmower, to tow a wagon, dump cart, etc., this "Magnetic Hitch Pin," is the only way to fly. What a handy, time saving device. It comes with a small hole and clip if you want to use it, but the magnet is strong enough to to hold it in place without it. The magnet is also strong enough to keep it from falling off, if you accidentally forget an leave it laying on your tractor. I like this so well that I have given them to a few neighbors. The only negative is that it may be to large for the hitch-pin hole in the tongue of your cart or wagon. It fits all of the tow point holes on the machines that I have used it on. However I have had to drill the hole out a bit larger on all of the carts and wagons. That was a simple modification for all of the convenience this magnetic pin provides.
