  • Don't let some of the poor review turn you away. THIS IS A GREAT!!! SMALL PET HOUSE!!!
Size: 46.9"L x 22.8"W x 24.0"H Style: Cage Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
This house is FANTASTIC!!! Wish I could bold and underscore. I purchased the XL house for two young piggies. Some crappy stuff first: The company must think all humans are engineer-minded. Hello Living World! We are not. Your instruction is a huge turn off. whoever wrote it sucks. Whoever approved the directions should be fired. How about a little more help with set up. Come on, make an effort. We certainly all are. There are a good number of poor reviews. YES, I am recycling the water bottle. Not even bothering to try it. What a waste of resources though - they have made a poor quality attempt just to add an extra. We all know that a water bottle that drips is unacceptable. I use only "glass" kaytee bottles. They don't drip as long as you take care to create a vacuum properly. The shelf, I considered. The steps are too steep for at least one of our piggiess. She seems to have something going on with her hind quarters. Her hind quarters appear to be a little weak. Better not to risk. I put it in because it created a nice little hidey hole but then removed it before the piggies moved in. I avoided a future injury I am pretty sure. The directions are CRAP. Wish I could bold and underline that as well. They are not specific enough. A child could have directed the how to set up better. They are diagram only. Few words. Attention not given to details that will allow you to succeed. THERE IS A VIDEO SHOWING A YOUNG WOMAN WITH TWO LIVE BIRDS, ONE ON EACH SHOULDER. SHE OFFERS ALL OF THE TIPS AN TRICKS FOR SUCCESS. Stop whining that you can't put it together. Watch the video and do it. I found the video after trying to two hours -( I was not whining, instead persevering, knowing I would eventually figure it out.) The last wire panel did not fit. I thought it was too long, and wondered how that happene.d Finally I searched up a how to video and viola! Find and watch the video so you don't waste your time without specific instructions. Most of you will probably not succeed without it. And you will write a poor review overall stating the house is garbage. It is NOT! Have patience... The trick with setting the wire frame work up is that each of the four panels have a front and back, or an inside and outside. You can see this by inspecting the top and bottom edges of each panel. Each panel has nubbies on the top and bottom wires that fit very precisely into the black Right Angle shaped clips that hold the wire frame in place. They do not fit into the black Right Angle shaped clips unless each of the two panels are nubbie-alternating. Inside the Right Angle clips are cut outs that accept a panel on each arm but they are made to accept one panel, nubbies present and the other panel, no nubbies present. I hope you get this. When you have the product in front of you, you will. The front sliding door is crap. It does not fully slide open. There is indeed a bar obstructing the ability for it to fully slide. The bars have to be finessed with finger pinching to open fully and close fully. Good feature I guess for an escape artist. For me, it is just a nuisance. Top access is fine. I am thinking about using the front door feature and never actually closing it all the way. I will not slide it over the nuisance bar so it will always be open about one half of an inch. With piggies I only have to use a bread tie along the top of the sliding door, running the tie through the top bar too to keep it from dropping down to piggy nibble level. Even if three piggies climbed on each other's shoulders they still wouldn't be able to undo the bread tie, or nibble it before toppling over. I think that will probably be a good solution. The house is very very tall. Not necessary for piggiess. I wish it weren't so tall. Makes getting piggies in and out and probably cleaning difficult. I use fleece in the piggies' playground. Always paper bedding in their house. For the first time I am using fleece in their house. Doing this because I am hoping to minimize work. Maybe I can just lift the fleece out every other time and scrub alternating. Removing the entire top every time to empty out the paper bedding seems will require time I do not want to spend. I usually clean out my piggie houses at least once or twice a week. I am not sure how much of a nuisance this is going to be to remove the entire top and scrub out the tray. We shall see. I only bought this as a vacation house. When we are on vacation, not the piggies. I usually have a pet sitter come and bring the piggies into their grande playground to play and exercise for 2 to 3 hours a day. I was looking for a much larger house so that they did not need to be moved to the playground, because they already had room enough - THIS HOUSE IS LARGE ENOUGH FOR THAT. HUGE! I am also not thrilled that the house is arched on top. I wonder why they did that. Looks cool! but, what the arch has done is it has taken away the ability to store anything on top of it - on our flat houses I was able to store in a shallow box their foods and goodies. Now I need an extra table. Also the arched top is a pain in the ass in that it does not allow you to sing "good mooooooorning piggies!" and flop up the covers on top of the house. It just flies over it and drops the the floor behind it. Bummer for that. Now I carefully, using the corners of the house, drape the covers in such a way so it barely clings on. Most times it drops to the floor. I won't' be picking it up much longer. Good stuff: People complain about the swinging and snapping door. There is no spring. It does not snap. It stays put when you open it. It latches nicely when you close it. What are they taking about?!? The food bowl is not weighted. I think I read that. If I did, again attention to detail, crap. The top of the shelf has a food bowl shape built in to it. The red plastic food bowl sets over it. I imagine this does indeed make it difficult for a guinea pig to tip over. I can't use it though because we are not using the shelf/platform it is built into because the stairs are too steep for our piggies. The house is STURDY! Very, very well made. The house is very secure. There is NOTHING flimsy about it. NOTHING! After my experience with this company's water bottles, I was pleasantly surprised! I almost fell over. As this was purchased to minimize pet sitter work while we are away I wanted to add extra food and water stations. The house has a huge perimeter!! Almost all usable wiring. Someone complained about this too. I have no idea what they are talking about. I have two water bottle, two hay bins and a big nibbler toy attached to the inside of the house. Plenty of room to add more! Just not necessary. Who cares about the complaint of the textured floor. If you are a veteran small animal owner, you know, no matter how often you scrub it, it gets stained. You can clean it but it will still look dirty. The floor is fine. THE HOUSE IS FAAAAAABULOUS! Once you finally get it together, which without external instruction will seem like you are building Rome. That is exactly how I felt, but I sensed it was going to be worth the effort and it was. I emphatically recommend this product! ... show more

  • Great cage for a Guinea Pig, easy to assemble, well made
Size: 37.8"L x 22.5"W x 22.0"H Style: Cage Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
Excellent cage, very easy to assemble, well made!! Plenty of room for my piggy Pros: easy to clean, entire top part (wire cage) comes off with the simple release of 6 clips, making cleaning the bottom super easy!! Access door on the side but the entire top is hinged as well so you can open that as well. Hayrack and double balled water bottle included, both mount outside the cage giving more actual living space on the inside. Food bowl included, food bowl sits inside a molded recess on the platform, this helps keep the piggy from knocking over or dragging around the food bowl. You could actually use the recess that the bowl sits into as a bowl for dry pellets and then set the actual bowl next to it and put wet food like veggies and fruit in that. The base of the cage (plastic part) is deep enough that shavings/bedding doesn't get kicked out (you do NOT have to fill the entire base with bedding!! that would just be silly, when reading the reviews for this cage prior to purchase someone thought they were supposed to fill the entire bottom with bed LOL) Cons: the only bad thing I've come across so far is that the ramp that goes up to the platform is very vertical, it's literally almost straight up and down but with these protrusions that are supposed to be steps or something? I didn't like it, and it was a simple thing to just not put it in there, no biggy. What I did do was buy Kaytee Large Tropical Fiddle Sticks Hideout and used these for a ramp and hide out Assembly hints: the instructions that came with the cage suck!! Even tho they suck, read them!! I had to put 2 of these together, the first one was broken and had to be returned, I didn't notice the damage until I'd almost had it entirely assembled. So here are a few hints to assemble it. Read the directions!! The vertical (up and down) bars of the wire sides, HAVE to be on the outside or it won't go together right!! Put the sides together first. Work on one corner at a time and put the black L shaped pieces on the top and bottom of that corner and then work you're way around. once that's done, put the large white locking tabs on, they go on the third horizontal rung from the bottom. When putting them on kind of rock them back and forth across the wire and they'll pop right on, don't try to just pull the straight down. Put the shelf in the base with or without the ramp, your choice, then set the wire assembly on top the the base and lock it down. The top is easy, not hints for that. The whole thing is really easy to assemble but the directions are so vague that I thought a few hints might help since i had to do it twice. the 2nd one went together in less than 15 minutes including unpacking time. ... show more
