    • Best Way to Keep Your Cat Happy with You
I recently adopted a cat and could not be happier. However, I am really bad at scooping his litter and he has meowed at me nonstop because of it some days. I felt bad but meowed back to him "Look, I don't have poop bags and it takes a long time to walk around the block to get to alley. I will work on it." Which, let's be honest, he did not take well so he peed on the floor. I knew I needed a solution, so I did some research. I found the Litter Genie and said "Hey, I'll try it out." I have not been disappointed. Having it next to the box is amazing, and allows me to scoop the litter box more than once a day. The smell is not there, and it was easy to set up. The fact that it also includes a scoop and holder for the scoop was amazing. Why I wanted to give 4 stars, but decided against it: 1. I was hesitant about purchasing because the refills are expensive,and it was not clear how they work and/or how they last so long. They work well and now it makes sense, so I included an explanation below. 2. In order to set up, I had to open the whole thing, which was fine, except the latch to keep it closed again on the bottom got messed up somehow and does not keep latched as well as it should. I had to move it, and tried lifting from the top to move it, and only the top came with me. Its not a huge deal, but a little annoying. 3. The "refill" included is actually just the first liner pack you need in order to use it. It is a bit misleading to say it is a "Refill included" but i'll let it pass because technically it is a refill you would buy, but not an additional item to use at a later time. Buy this thing. For real. It's worth it, especially if you get the refills on subscribe and save. How the bags work: A refill is just one long plastic cylinder you pull up from the hard plastic holder, tie a knot, and pull it through the center to make a "bag". Then when the "bag" is full, you use the built in cutter to cut the plastic bag and tie another knot. Then you have more plastic to pull and do the same steps again. This is how it lasts for so long. When I read it, I thought it was just a single use bag and was like "How the heck does it cost that much?" But now I understand. Definitely worth it. ... show more

    • Life saver!!!
I almost did not buy this product based on the reviews I was reading, thinking it might be a cheap, flimsy gimmick. Allow me to give you a review based on how this product was intended to be used and how it has changed my life. I don't know the litter genie people personally but I can almost guarantee they did not have a multiple litter box household, for one Genie to be carried to and from, in mind when creating this marvelous time saving device. When I say that, I am talking about reviews that sh*! on this product because they can't pick it up and tote it around their home from box to box, scooping pounds of poop, expecting miracles. I have one litter box and had two cats, now have one. I scoop daily thanks to Litter Genie because I don't need a new, wasteful plastic bag for every scoop. My current kitten has poop that is the worst smelling thing I have experienced so the need to clean multiple times is prevalent. Litter Genie is saving the environment and my home by allowing constant scooping. Once the poop goes into the shoot, no smell, gone. When opening the whole contration to remove the bag once full (about once a week on trash night) the smell isn't awesome but it's a bag of week old poop sitting in a plastic container, what does one expect? I generally hold my breath or turn my head away from direct waft and all is good. Knot the bag, toss away, no more smell. "I can't open the trap with one hand" ok, then don't! Why do they deserve one star because you don't want to hold it and pull a lever at the same time. This product saves me time. No need to empty and clean the litter box completely, over and over again, no consistent smell that lazy me waits and hopes will go away because I JUST cleaned it. No dirty paws from walking in old pee and poop because I'm out of plastic bags, don't want to use yet another, etc and, come on, we're human and the process sux. This has taken the "sux" out of the process. The top is narrow so that would be something I would improve, sometimes the waste takes a shake to drop into the bag. The liter genie really works. There is no more lingering smell. It's easy to set up, even easier to use n reasonably priced. It allows me to "do the box" more frequently bc I no longer have to trudge down to the garage ever other day to get it out of the house till the garbage gets picked-up. The liter genie holds days worth of waste n locks in the smell completely. So now it's not such a chore n I'm sure my boys appreciate a nice clean bathroom too. Definitely worth trying it out. We're sold n never going without the liter genie again. It's size is great n it seems durable so far. The only improvements I would like to see, is a wider base for more stability n more holding power for us lazy people who despite being lazy or too tired, also want a odor free abodes.
