They arrived and were packed neatly in the box. Instructions were easy to follow and assembly was very quick. (don't forget to pull off the protective lining along the edges of the chairs!). I bought the carbon fiber stools and they look and feel great. In fact, because I bought these stools mostly for the aesthetic, that's why I'm keeping my review at 4 stars as it does exactly what I purchased it for -- to be pretty. However, if you're buying these because you're actually going to use them a lot, read on. First, they don't feel very sturdy. There is a slight wobble whenever you lean one way or the other, even after making sure the parts were all tightened correctly. Second, the chair itself is also very small. I'm small for an adult, so it kind of works for me. But I can't imagine anyone with any kind of real weight enjoying this chair at all. Weight limit is 250lbs it says, but just in terms of seat area, there's really not a lot of space for much. Which leads into my rating for overall comfort. If you're a grown adult, it is not a very comfortable seat. You'll feel like you need to lean forward a lot because there is zero back support (it is a low-backed stool, sure, but it doesn't feel comfortable on the lower back either). For my purposes, it is a basic seat that I can use to sit on briefly, or for guests to sit on briefly, so it meets the bare minimum for me there. The swivel is good; not too loose and I like that it can be rotated around if guests would like to turn in their seat. Footrest is nice, and the chair has a really good range of heights to set it in. Cleaning might be a pain as the material picks up fingerprints easily. Overall, if comfort is a priority, I'd advise to look elsewhere; otherwise, a great buy for a basic chair that looks pretty! ... show more

    • More form than function

The bottom line is: backed chairs are impractical for bar height seating unless your bar has a foot rest for scooching. Complaints: 1) The gas cylinders compress a full 2 inches when seated. so the actual maximum height is 2" less than advertised. (I'm 6'3" 185) 2) The seat back is mostly pointless. It slopes backward, so leaning against it with your feet tucked under makes you feel like you are striking a pose in an Olympic Freestyle competition. This is at bar height where your feet cannot touch the ground. In a lowered position, you can stretch your feet out on the ground and lean back (slouch) if you wish. 3) The seat back interferes with swiveling. In a normal dining room chair, you sit and then use your feet to scooch the chair closer to an eating position. With a bar height chair, scooching is impossible, so the idea is climb over the back like a traditional stool or swivel into place. However, when pushed close enough for eating, the seat back does not allow much swiveling. Basically, it's very inconvenient to get in and out of these when they are close enough for eating. 4) The useless seat back interferes with pushing the stool completely under the bar. It is possible to lower the seat and then slide it under but not very convenient to be constantly adjusting the height. 5) Lateral play in the cylinder post, especially in the highest position, allows the seat to rock back and forth like a chair with one short leg. For my needs, 3 stars is generous. These chairs look OK, are simple to assemble, are likely more comfortable for a smaller/shorter person, and are inexpensive. Unfortunately, inexpensive is still wasted money because I need to repurchase more practical traditional stools. ... show more
