  • Fantastic guitar... after a little TLC
Color: US Flag
Firstly, while the guitar isn't entirely free of cosmetic defects, but overall it is well done and beautiful. Secondly, the setup is not good out of the box. The fret ends were not sticking out too much from the fretboard, but they were sharp. The strings sounded terrible. The action was playable, but high. Once I addressed those issues, the guitar is fantastic! Unfortunately, I had to deduct 1 star for the poor fretwork. There are several ways to address sharp fret ends and they are fairly simple and easy to do. Once you learn how to do that, it expands your selection of budget guitars because you don't have to pass on the ones with the poorly reviewed fretwork. You can just fix it yourself with some inexpensive fret tools that you can get right here on amazon. With those that include fretboard protectors, you will be able to do the work fairly quickly and easily. The pickups are hot enough for me, so I like the sound. They sound good running clean. With the gain cranked up they sound great. This guitar would work for most music styles. I won't be changing them out. The neck was good and the tuners are Grovers. I say that because the guitar came with an authentic Grover lifetime warranty card hanging on a tuning peg. The other reason I don't think they are knockoffs is the tuning stability. Once I broke in the strings, no tuning stability issues at all. It stays in tune no matter what I throw at it (except of course the evil G string on rare occasion). Counterfeit parts rarely live up to their namesakes, so having Grover tuners is a huge bonus for such an inexpensive guitar. Bottom line, this guitar was well worth the extra time I put into getting it right, especially considering the low price. I would definitely buy this one again. ... show more

  • This is a GREAT GUITAR!!!
The media could not be loaded. This is a GREAT GUITAR! I’m a retired 45 yr full-time Professional Musician with over 40,000 stage hours. This American Flag Leo Jaymz LesPaul copy is #64 in my current guitar collection of over $100k in guitars. I truly did not expect much in this guitar for the price and bought it solely for the American Flag top. But, quite frankly this guitar has blown me away in quality, sound and playability. It’s got a great solid feel, the neck has a slimmer more comfortable profile than my $6k LesPaul Custom. There is so much that impresses me about this guitar. But, the most unexpected awesome surprise is the neck and fretwork. The frets are well polished, unheard of this this price range… no gritty sound sliding string across the fret. The fret ends are perfectly smooth with no sharp edges or fret sprouts. Generally, the worst aspect of a low price guitar is the nut. Unbelievably, the nut is set perfectly precise for optimum playing neck action. Intonation was perfect out of the box with the exception of one string I had to set. Also, the first thing you need to do is change the strings. I almost took a file to my second fret thinking it was the cause of a fret buzz. But, after taking off the stock fake D’Addario Chinese strings and replacing them a new set of Ernie Ball Super Slinky strings? The fret buzz was gone and the guitar pickup volume jumped considerably. I’m thinking the Chinese strings must have some level of aluminum in their make up. Just take the strings off first thing. I made a couple height adjustments on the pickup screws and realized the pickups are in fact waxpotted. A level of quality that is unheard of in this price range. As I tightened the pickup screws some of the pickup wax squeezed up onto the pickup cover. 👍🏽 Whenever, you buy a guitar online, particularly one that has traveled all the way from China? You WILL need to adjust the neck truss rod. Straight out of the box this guitar was unplayable because the change in climates and temperature in its travels had created a slight backbow in the neck basically laying all the strings on the frets. So, I used the provided hex wrench to relax the neck some and the guitar played like a charm. I found no finish flaws… which are usually low on my concerns anyway. Because, at this point in my playing career it’s all about feel, playability and sound. Of which I can only give this guitar a 10 out of 10. Yes, it’s THAT good. The pots are totally clean absolutely no scratchiness. The pickups sound much like my 1976 Gibson LesPaul Standard pickups. Based on my experience both as a performer and guitar collector? If someone just handed me this guitar I had never heard of and solely on the guitar’s own merit? Asked me to determine a fair value for it based on current available comparables… Epiphone, Gretsch Streamliners, etc.? I’d find a $500 value for this guitar very fair. The tuners are not real Grover tuners, but Chinese Grover copies. That being said… they feel tight and hold tune very well. That’s having already put in about forty hours playing time on mine. If I had to pick a weak link in this guitar? The only one is what is typical on most guitars even that cost three times the price of this one. The input jack nut comes loose. Which is nothing Blue Locktite adhesive can’t remedy. I use it on all my guitar jacks. To close out? If you are not an experienced guitar person? When this guitar arrives at your house. If it doesn’t seem playable out of the box? That’s completely typical for a guitar that has traveled all the way from China. Before, you decided to return it? Have a friend whom is good with setting up guitars take a look at it and make the proper adjustments. Even if you have to pay a professional guitar tech at your local music store $75-$100 to set the guitar up perfectly? That’s a well worth investment. If all of the Leo Jaymz guitars are made as well as mine? You are still coming out way ahead as far as quality per dollar spent. I have been wanting to have one of my Gibson LesPauls airbrush painted EXACTLY like this guitar, before I knew about this guitar. The quotes I got were all between $700-$750. Then I ran across this Leo Jaymz guitar with the exact style American flag I wanted. This guitar is a GREAT GUITAR!! ... show more

  • Great sound
Color: Gradient Blue
Great sounding guitar and great looking guitar with a few imperfections! Google/YouTube can be a a big help for the following. It does need some adjustments and work. The rhythm/treble switch was loose. I removed the back cover and not sure if this is like a refurbished guitar or what. It had several extra screw holes behind the cover. Tightened the switch and it's all good. The fretboard was super dry. I had a few frets which have flat areas. But, no big issue for me! They will still be good for a while. I also used some Blue Magic Metal polish on the frets. It had a crack in the clear at the base of the neck. I might sand it some later and try to fill it in some later. The bridge/saddle definitely needs and adjustment. I will replace the bridge with a roller the next time I change strings. The original strings got cut and replaced just to have some new ones. Overall, I'm very happy! ... show more

  • Great buy
Color: PinkPurple
The guitar is awesome. Sounds great and the finish is stunning. Everything is set up good and it's all in order. However after unboxing it I noticed a few nicks in the finish, nothing crazy but they were apparent. Also one of the tone knobs was pretty loose compared to the other ones and I had to take the knob completely out to fix it. All things considered, not bad for the price. ... show more

  • Super cheap, yet surprisingly good
Color: PinkPurple
You get what you pay for. This cost me $208 with shipping and taxes included… not $2,800. It’s a cheap guitar. So let’s judge it for what it is. It was packaged well. It was set up reasonably well. The strings are garbage. The pickups are kinda noisy and gritty. It has a little bit of a darker, tougher tone to it. The finish and colors are freakin’ awesome. It’s just a great, cheap addition of a gritty hard rock guitar to my collection. It would be fantastic as a first guitar for a kid because of the look and colors available. I just can’t see doing better for so little money in the world of guitars. ... show more
