Description

My oldest is 7yo and had a lot of fun putting this one together. The Friends figures are more appealing to her than normal minifigs. There is a decent mix of printed tiles and stickers; the stickers have good detail, even if I'd prefer to have all printed bricks. The build is pretty straightforward without many gotcha steps. I really liked the 'skipping stones' play aspect, which was unexpected and a lot of fun! There aren't too many custom pieces, but there are lots of nice colors to add to our collection. I think my favorite part of the build was the salmon/bear/bee module towards the end. I think there's a lot of playability in each part of the build and for $70, you get a lot of value. It'd be nice to have maybe one more minifig, but we can't complain. ... show more

As with other Lego Friends building sets this was just as expected. The pieces were organized and the instructions were easy to follow. The Friends sets are always a big hit in our household and this one did not disappoint. The camping and water sports theme makes this a perfect project for summer. I wasn't familiar with the Lego Friends series, so the new style of minifigures surprised me at first. My kids were much more familiar with them and so excited to receive their own set. As an avid outdoor family this was the perfect set, fun to build and fun to use for imaginative play. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow. The set came together in about two hours of group build time. There are around 50 extra pieces, small pieces that are likely to be lost. And there are a LOT of small pieces, which is a plus as many of them are unique - plants, insects, food, etc - but something to be aware of if using with younger kids around. Our 14, 12, 11, and 9-year-olds all worked together to build this set. Our 4-year-old also loves Legos, but this was above his skill level so I'd say the 7+ age recommendation is accurate. ... show more

I was looking for something a little different for two of my grandsons and I saw this Lego set and after a few sneaky inquiries discovered that it was one they didn't have. They (and their father!) are Lego nuts so I ordered it. There are 628 pieces to this set, and it includes a few items that I have never seen before so I was hopeful that they would both find it interesting to put together. There is a very comprehensive instruction booklet enclosed and all the parts are bagged into five separate bags. The instructions will be needed to put this set together correctly. Although this is sold as suitable for 7+ ages I would suggest that children at that age will definitely need some help. As always with Lego the pieces are well thought out and immaculately produced. There are never pieces that don't fit or don’t fit very well. Overall, this is another interesting release by Lego and is well worth considering for the Lego nuts in your family! ... show more

    • Decent set with good detail - but a few misses.
It is a bit light on the water sports though - no swimming, no lifeguard, no canoe although there are oars, etc. Also a few bad details - fishing off the dock (dangerous), the blue water base should expand to allow the kayak and pedal boat to be in water instead of on a table. Idk why I expected it to be smaller but it's a decent size. Fairly easy to build, kept my kiddo entertained for a while but he was able to build it alone. Really nice.
