Ideally, a writing pad should: 1. Provide a smooth writing surface 2. Not bleed through to an adjacent page (or, ideally, the flip-side of the same page) 3. Tear off cleanly These pads provide a semi-smooth writing surface. They don't bleed through to a backing page (using a Sharpie) but do bleed through to the reverse side of the same page.
