  • A process that requires commitment, but worth it! A very long, detailed review-
I've waited several months to write this. I've kept a document open where I would add my thoughts, details and notes of my progress, but my review wasn't ready to be posted for some time. You see... I really wanted this review to not just talk about the product itself, but if it really worked or not. This isn't a cheep machine, not by any means. (I do see that, the day I'm posting this review this is on a deal for $140 with a 10% coupon making this less than $130. I picked it up at full price- $260) Before you spend your hard earned money, I want you to know the FULL truth with all the details- good and bad. I didn't just want to tell you about how amazing the packaging was or the quality of the device itself. I wanted to tell you how I used it and, most important, if it delivered results. This isn't a short review, by any means, as it is 6 months in the making. I've chronicled my progress and shared my opinions and tips I picked up along the way (as well as tips from my esthetician). Before investing in this device, do your research. Is your skin/hair type right for this type of hair removal? Do you have the time to dedicate to treatments? I'm hoping that this review will help you make that decision as easy as possible. I started using this about 6 months ago, thankfully it was the dead of winter and I didn't have to worry about protecting my freshly lasered skin from the sun. It's summer now, and the legs, armpits and bikini area are on full display. They are also baby soft and hair free!! I'll admit, I didn't think this would work. I thought there was no way I could actually achieve something that was only possible in an aesthetics salon, with machines that cost thousands of dollars. But to my suprise, astonishment and overwhelming sense of gratitude, this is TOTALLY LEGIT! When the device arrived I was immediately impressed with the packaging and unboxing process. This isn't cheep, quick packaging by any means. Thought and care really went into the design of the box and the layout of the device and tools inside. Everything had a place (which I love) inside the box and every piece of this set was wrapped well then placed inside of it's own, labeled lavender box. This isn't something where you open it and it's a jumble of pieces. There's no questioning, "What's this? What's that do?". Nope. It's all wonderfully laid out, like a story. And everything, literally down to a razor, eye protection and carrying case is included. The only thing you will need is a good moisturizer. The reading material/instructions seemed a bit overwhelming at first. There is a quick start book and a regular book, the latter on the thicker side. All the instructions are well written and easy to understand. The thickness comes from the info being translated into MANY different languages. I carefully looked over the guide, paying attention to the precautions, easy instructions and hair chart. This will only work on certain hair/skin types. The applicability check chart (in the quick start guide) has a row of skin tones across the top (the Fitzpatrick scale). Down the side, it lists different hair colors. When you match your corresponding tone/color, a little box has either a check mark or a tick. This isn't for everyone, and that's important to know before you buy this. This will NOT work for skin types 5 or 6, at all. For type 1, 2, 3 and 4's, it will work for dark blonde/light brown hair and darker. Not red hair, nor blonde or white. I'm a type 3 with brown/dark brown body hair, so I was a perfect match. Prep for the treatments was SO EASY. I didn't need to grow my hair to the length of a grain of rice. There was no waiting around or huge production set up. All I needed to do was shave and make sure the treatment area was clean. I used the razor included in the kit for a while (a nice quality, disposable razor that provides a cut free, clean shave), but when that wore out I just used my own. Then, I just make sure the treatment area is clear of any product and I'm ready to go! The device doesn't need charging, rather it works when plugged in. I did all of my treatments in the bathroom- where I was comfortable in any type of position and where the light was bright enough where I could still see what I was doing through the very stylish and comfortable but very dark glasses that came in the kit. Protecting the eyes is crucial as this emits quite a powerful flash. It's notable that while the glasses DO protect your eyes well, they are NOT the giant lazer goggles you get in the salon. They don't have the thick sides protecting the periphery, although I don't think that's necessary since you are doing the treatment yourself rather than having it done to you. The glasses are actually really good looking/on trend, with large round frames. I thought at first that they were just normal sunglasses- but they aren't. These are MUCH darker than any commercial sunnies. You can see what you are doing, but that's because it's right infront of you. They basically black out everything else. The machine has two different modes of use (continuously flashing or manual) and part of the saftey features is that it will only flash when in contact with the skin. There are no accidental discharges. The wand is well constructed, studry, and despite having some weight to it- it's comfortable to hold and easy to operate/move around. This does NOT feel like some cheep kids toy- not even close. It's quality is exceptional, in your face obvious that whoever designed it made sure that there were no shortcuts taken, no corners cut. It is luxury all the way- and it's also very easy to use! This is literally one of the easiest home medi devices I've ever used actually. It's pretty much fail proof. My advice- Start low! I feel quite lucky that I received this over the winter and I had several months to work up my treatment numbers. I started at a level 2 for the first week. It didn't feel like it was doing much, but it didn't hurt either. The machine still emitted the bright burst of light with a sound that sounded like a muted camera flash. I continued with the level 2 for a week before going up to a 3, then 4, and so on. Now, I'll admit I like instant gratification. Everything in my ADHD brain tells me to go for it, all the way, right from the beginning. So in my first days of use, I turned my dial up to a 6 and put the wand to a spot on my lower leg...OUCH! It was too much, too early. I wasn't used to the sensation yet, and my body wasn't ready for that kind of power right away. You need patience and time for this to deliver results. I slowly worked my way up the dial, moving to more powerful flashes for treatments. Some levels took several weeks even before I felt I was ready for the next. I maxed out at level 6- that was all I could take (for my legs anyway. My bikini and pits were a much different *lower* story). After each treatment, I slathered the area with a good amount of creamy, hydrating moisturizer. With the higher levels, there was a bit more tenderness, but it never was uncomfortable or 'burned'. I chose formulas that contained aloe and shea, as they hydrate the skin while instantly soothing and caring for the freshly flashed areas. I stayed away from formulas that contained a lot of chemicals and, quite obviously, I stayed away from anything that had any self tanning properties. One of the BEST things about this device (besides the fact it ACTUALLY works...very well) is that you don't need to crank up that dial and sit through sessions of washcloth biting pain. You don't need to walk around with burnt body parts that are sore, raw or peeling. You DON'T need to experience any pain...at all...and it still works! With that being said, this IS going take time. And you will have to increase the power/intensity at some point. I don't think a level 2 will completely eradicate stubborn leg hair, unless maybe you treat yourself for a full year or a long amount of time (that's just a guess. I could be wrong) Personally, I feel like my treatments took longer because I stayed at a rather low setting. The instructions stress that you should only do what you can handle and this shouldn't be a painful experience. I had the time, patience and real hope that this was going to be successful, so I kept to it. Treating at the levels that my body could handle. I'm sure that those who can get to a higher setting in a shorter time will see results quicker, but I really believe that patience is important with this device. I started with the legs, added the pits in week 2 and got the courage (and three way mirrors) in week 4 to do my bikini area. With each new section I added, I started back at level two, then slowly turned up the dial as the weeks passed. Legs were the quickest to level up in power, while the bikini took a little longer. I kept a piece of paper in my kit (the box makes for excellent and very neat storage, so don't get rid of it), a spread sheet almost with areas, dates and treatment levels so I never got confused or zapped the wrong area at the wrong level. I didn't originally intend to treat three different areas at once, but I figured that the time was right (it was winter) and why not? If I had he machine out, why not do it all and see what takes. I also wanted to write my review as honest and detailed as possible. The first area where I saw real, undeniable results was my armpits. To be fair, there wasn't a lot there to begin with. At 41yo, I've never really grown armpit hair. (Don't say how 'lucky' I am yet...The trade off is the most wicked smelling pits on the planet). I would get 8-10 stragglers in each pit though, fine in texture but they always grew real long. Since I wasn't in the habit of shaving them regularly, I often didn't notice the collection of hair until the most inopportune time. And it was embarrassing. By the 3rd month of treatment, with my max level a 5, those were all gone. It's been almost 3 months and now I check every day to see if they have come back. And...nothing. Not a piece of stubble. Not a single straggler. The legs and bikini took a bit longer. I maxed out at a 6 on my legs, but the bikini I barely made it to a 5. (Some treatment days were better than others, less painful for whatever reason. I did have many level 5 treatments on my bikini area, but for the most part, they were 4's.) I started to notice less and less to shave on my legs at the 4.5 month marker. By the 5th month, there was nothing...nada. Just baby soft, completely hairless legs. Most recently, the bikini area just made it to the 'all clear' mark. It took close to 5 months, but in all fairness- I started treatment there last AND I kept the level pretty low. Alas, I don't have to worry about embarrassing hairs for bikini season as they are ALL GONE. Some things I want to note- ●When I would shave, specifically my legs, I always had small little red dots where the hairs were. They weren't bumps, rather just visual evidence of where the follicles and hair grew out of. In the summer when I got color they would be less noticeable, but I could always see the tiny red dots, most notably and pronounced at the bottoms of my legs. Those are now completely gone. Along with the hair that grew from each red spot, I believe those hair follicles shrunk so much that they are now invisible. ●Eventhough I've reached the 'hairless' mark I was going for, I still continue to do maintenance treatments of the areas. For the first two months, I was treating, religiously, every other day. After that, a treatment every third day. While I was quite regimented, there were a few times I missed a day/skipped a treatment. But for the most part, I stuck to my schedule as I was determined to not be dependent on a razor over the summer. Now, I do a maintenance treatment about once every week. The Quick Start Guide does have a suggested time table, a guideline for how often to treat, but they are very clear to mention that it will vary from person to person. ●I've mentioned now, a few times, how I am greatful that I received this product when I did- in the winter. There are a few reasons I suggest that you do the same. First, the manual states that you are not to use this on sunburned or compromised skin. That's quite an obvious request as I'm sure that no one would want to basically flash 'burn' a burn. Then, my best friend is an esthetician. She works at one of the premiere spas in my area, where they have the million dollar lazers that do exactly what this does. (She was VERY impressed with this device, how it worked and how effective it is! She honestly couldn't believe it, especially for the price!) Anyways she told me that, while the salon is all about making money, she doesn't like to treat her clients over the summer, unless they stay completely of the sun. Sun exposure during treatment can make the skin more sensative to your treatments. That can cause burning and hyperpigmentation. It can also cause scarring. And not just tiny dots, but pretty substantial scars. It's also better to do your treatments in the winter when you aren't sweating. Sweat can cause irritation and discomfort during and after treatment. So the cold months, when your covered are most definitely the best time to treat! And thankfully, I received this at the perfect time. Now...for the first time in my lifetime of shaving and waxing, I am NOT dependent on a razor or wax. Shaving is one less step/hassle I have to complete in my getting ready process. I don't have to worry about packing a razor when I travel or that awful, uncomfortable process of growing out my hair for a wax. I don't have to spend money on treatments, expensive razors or razor blades either. That's all behind me now, and I'm very, VERY greatful. This device is undeniably the real deal! It's not a cheep gimmick full of empty promises and difficult steps. It's not cheaply made either. This is a quality made device that really works! With that being said- This IS a process. You DO have to put the time and energy into it AND stick with it too! Don't get discouraged if in two months you aren't at a level 7 and completely hairless. The results vary from person to person, depending on your hair and what your body can handle. Just note that if you stick to it, it is going to work. Now, about the price- I can't believe that, on deal, you can pick this up for $130! I'm honestly considering buying a second unit at that price because, well...it's unbelievable! If you see this for less than $150, don't even think twice- GET IT ASAP! (I'm still thinking that's some sort of mistake though, surely an oversight somewhere). I did get this at full price, $260. Even then, this is worth every. single. dollar! I think of all the money I'll now save, not having to buy razors, blades, wax strips or kits ever again. I'll never have to pay for a bikini wax again. Lazer treatments in a salon are ungodly amounts of money and you have to keep going back and keep paying. Really, in the grand scheme of things- this pays for itself- quick! If you get this for an absolute steal, or pay the full price, this is TOTALLY worth it. This high quality device really works, delivering soft, smooth, hairless skin without pain. I hope this very long, detailed review has helped you decide if this is right for you! ... show more

  • Good disposable razor.
These are nice razors as far as disposable ones go. I did cut my legs a couple times at first when getting use to them. But they seem fine now. I plan to use them when traveling.

  • So far so good...worried a little about the included glasses
Color: Purple
Update1: well, this isn't a laser at all. It is called IPL which means intense pulsed light. Apparently, it is used for hair reduction by tarteting melanin. It destroys the hair producing part. I feel better about the glasses now since it isn't a targeted laser, but a broad spectrum light. Still, the ones I have seen are mostly green or brown and the included ones are not. I am still going to look for a reputable pair of glasses for IPL for hair removal. Also, I make sure no one else (including pets) are in the same room. Original review: This device sort of looks like a large electric razor (or an old school shoe flash for a 35mm camera!) You place it on your skin in a 90 degree/perpendicular angle and push a button. The red light flashes, and you move to the next area. That is about all there is too it. It has other features like a gliding mode if you want to do larger areas (like legs) or spot mode for doing one section, moving it and doing the next. It also is adjustable in intensity to reduce any discomfort. It recommends a test area to determine your level of comfort. I turned it all the way to 9 (the highest) and never did feel any discomfort in the spot mode (and I do have sensitive skin) but you may be different. It senses when the machine is on your skin before the button will activate the flash. It flashes a bright red. The box comes with sunglasses to protect your eyes. I still close mine because I really notice the flash. I initally thought I found a reuse for my eclipse glasses but that is WRONG! Apparently these lasers are a different wavelength. I don't really understand the type of glasses that are best for this type of laser I am hoping that the ones provided are correct (and do close my eyes like I said!) but they seem a little cheap and just are black...others I have seen online are green or red. I have to do more research on this. It does note that works only on light skin to remove dark hair. I guess it targets dark specks. I did worry because sometimes I get clogged pores around my upper lip close to my nose, and didn't want those targeted. I only wanted the shaved dark hair chosen ( you are to shave hair first and a razor is included but any will work.) so I did exfoliate first to hopefully give the tool the best chance. It says to use it 2-3 times a week for the first 1-3 weeks (for 70% hair reduction) then 2 times a week for 4-6 weeks (for 85% hair reduction), and then after 6 weeks, 1 treatment every 1-2 months for maintenance. I just started so we shall see if I experience reduction. And I know I will miss areas, but try to do the best I can. It doesn't hurt or anything while using it (I only tried a few small areas so far. I should mention that there is an "FDA" logo, but the wording is odd. It says "made in an FDA approved facility." What does that mean!? Sometimes items have the logo that it is approved by the FDA, but it often is for safety, not necessarily for effectiveness. I am not that worried that it will hurt me anymore than say...all that stupid suntanning I did when I was younger. But I am wary of my eyes. I don't look toward it at all for now until I can figure out the glasses thing. I will update this when (if) I figure it out. ... show more

  • Was skeptical, but really works well
I have light brown hair, and I tan easily but on the chart I was borderline for this option to work for me, I figured I would try it. It surprisingly works really well after only a few uses. The hair that’s still left is likely spots I missed, or need to do more sessions on. It does take patience, but it’s worth it to have significantly reduced hair or no hair. Currently, my legs are almost hair free— but I went over them the best— my arm pits and bikini area could use more sessions but have significantly reduced hair with only minimal use. The levels are great to work your way up. But don’t over due it or you will have “coffee ground” spots, however, those do go away. I started level 1-2 and increased to level 9 fairly quickly. I like the auto function where it flashes automatically rather than manually especially for large areas. It doesn’t hurt at all, and aloe Vera after is great. I can’t wait to continue more sessions and see even better results. As long as you have the patience and dedication and meet the skin/hair parameters, this is a great product and I would highly recommend it. ... show more
