The water in our 10 gal aquarium was looking really murky and we were losing fish. I tried changing the water, checking the filter but nothing was working. I noticed there was a lot of dirt and filth beneath the small gravel so as a last resort I bought this tool. Well it worked! It sucked up SO much junk and that fixed the problem with the murky water. Our fish are alive and happy. This tool does suck up a lot of water as you use it so have replacement jugs nearby. I used this the first time and it worked great. The second time my husband had to help because I couldn’t get it going. Then it didn’t work at all. The company quickly sent me a new one and it works great. I had bought another one and didn’t like it because it sucked up a bunch of my sand or nothing at all. If you want this to easily siphon water out of the tank when you need to do partial water replacements, this works great. But if you want this for trying to clean the old food and waste from the gravel/substrate, it's only so-so. It sucks out the water pretty quickly, but it's not strong enough to make the little waste pieces suck up fast enough.
