The piano sound samples of the SK Grand is outstanding... one of the best if not the best piano sample in the portable digital piano market. However, there is a strange issue with the RHIII action... and it has something to do with the "let off" / escapement. Keep in mind, this is not something that a novice will even notice. But there is something unrealistic about it and feels gummy. This causes unrealistic responses when playing very soft dynamics. Maybe that's why when NORD purchased the RHIII from Kawai, they excluded the escapement feature . I think I know exactly why NORD did this. If you are a very skilled jazz or classical pianist, you will definitely notice this gummy weirdness in Kawai's RH3 action. And it will bother you. Too bad , because everything else about the ES920 is fantastic. Kawai needs to redesign the RH3 and fix this "gummy" issue with the let off. Some people have complained about the noise of the action and the bounciness of the keys. I didn't find either to be an distracting issue. You can play trills and repeated notes perfectly well. The problem with the action has something to do with the rubbery let off which creates an unrealistic gummy action as you depress the key. And this DOES NOT feel like a quality acoustic grand piano. ... show more

    • Great piano, terrible speakers
I was looking forward to this piano for months and was excited to find one available. I live in an apartment and have some significant noise considerations and connected to headphones the sound is incredible. I love the key action too - it feels fantastic compared to other digital pianos I've played over the years. The thing you do not want to find out is that the speakers built in to the unit sound garbled and crackle across the breadth of the keyboard - which was my experience when I finally had the opportunity to play unplugged. We shall see how Kawai's warranty service is I suppose. ... show more

    • Great Piano, Kawai Customer Service not so
I did not purchase my ES920 from Amazon, and for the little I saved I wish I had. The piano is beautiful., I really like the sound and the key action. Unfortunately my piano arrived with two problems. The keys C1 and the B below it will not go down, a piece of paper used as a feeler gauge indicates there is something stuck underneath them. The second problem is that the blutooth connects with my tablet but then drops and reconnects. This is the same with another tablet and laptop. I contacted Kawai about these problems and am very unhappy with their response. On the stuck key issue, I was asked to bring it to a repair facility about 30 mikes away. It took over a week to reach someone at the repair facility and they estimated at least 4 weeks once the piano was dropped off before some one would look at it, they were unable to give a time when I could drop it off during the call. On the blutooth issue Kawai's customer rep transferred me to another line where I left a voice mail about the problem I was having with dropped connection. A week later the rep I was transferred to sent an email referring me back to the original Kawai customer rep I spoke with. Today, 3/13/23, I called Kawai back and spoke with the same rep. asking for a replacement piano instead of waiting weeks/ months for repair of a new piano. The rep explained that Kawai would not replace the defective unit until 3 repair unsuccessful attempts had been made. Exchanges would have to be made thru the seller, who disclosed during the transaction that they do not accept returns. So for a small savings I am at the mercy of Kawai's surprisingly bad customer service. I love my ES920 and would gladly have another, however I will think long and hard about ever purchasing another Kawai product. As I told Kawai's rep, If I had purchased from Amazon it would have been returned a long time ago. I would recommend the ES920, just make sure you can return it if defective and not have to wait weeks/months to get what you paid for like me. ... show more
