  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy and confortable to use
Size: Pro
I don't have a single bad thing to say. This is a great and comfortable heck holder which I use for Hohner harmonicas. Putting one in is bit difficult - the clamping strings are strong and I've dropped my harmonicas fiddling with the clamp a few times. But that's my own fault. The hold is firm and makes playing a complete enjoyment without having to fight for position/fit. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Good material and build quality
Size: Pro
Fine quality for the price. I have used it and it fits and functions well. The spring grip is so firm I worry a bit for my harmonicas, but you really wouldn’t want it slipping. I just have to perfect a loading technique that avoids scratching or uneven pressure points.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Nice and secure
Size: Pro
The folks at K&M must've read one of the previous reviews that suggested putting a star washer in the hinge joint because the one I received came with them. Together with the plenty-large (approx. 5/8") knobs, this rack stays tight and keeps the harmonica nice and secure and in a comfortable playing position. At least for me, and at least for now. And I don't foresee having any troubles with it in my lifetime. FYI, I'm what you might call a mediocre amateur who plays Neil Young and Bob Dylan style harmonica while also playing guitar for my own enjoyment and for my friends (you'd have to ask them if they enjoy it too!). I don't know, maybe if you play blues style you might put more pressure on the rack while playing. I wouldn't know, but this thing works great for me. Worlds better than the old piece of junk I had for 40 years before this one. I really like the design of the hinge joint. It has a piece of Delrin, or similar plastic, that serves as an anchor for the fixed end of the spring that holds the harp, which extends down to the hinge joint where it forms a "Y" with the steel part, and the piece that goes around your neck gets sandwiched between the two along with the star washer to form a non-slip joint. (I can't make heads nor tails of this description on re-reading, so I guess I'd better include a photo to show you what I mean.) The only two things I can think of as negatives are: 1 - I find it difficult to change from one harmonica to another while wearing the rack, which can be annoying since it seems like every song I know is in a different key and I end up changing harmonicas a lot between songs. This is mostly because of the strong spring tension that holds the harp securely though, so I can't really complain about it. 2 - The little beard-hairs just below my lower lip get caught between the harmonica and the rack once in a while, like when I try to change harmonicas without removing the rack from around my neck. OUCH! But it shouldn't be a problem unless you're a scraggly old aging hippie like I am. I just got this contraption yesterday though, and these minor annoyances might well resolve themselves with a little experience. They don't rise to the level of taking stars away from my rating anyway. Bottom line is that this thing does just what it's supposed to do for me and is comfortable to boot. I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Almost ideal
Size: 16416.000.55
The best I've found (have tried several). The only issue (a major one) is that it cannot hold onto a harmonica if the body is tapered, as all of mine are. The instrument will fly out the back. I added my own "stops", but that took some metal fabrication.

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars Overly large
Size: Pro
The loop that goes around your neck if very big, as though it was designed for football players. The springs could be stronger and the very long clamp section is made to hold very large harmonicas as well as standard 10 hole types. I will go back to my more primitive smaller one and set this one aside. Pluses: It is very well made, the adjustor knobs are better than wing nuts and the black color camouflages it some. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars The design I didn't know I wanted
Size: 16416.000.55
My last harmonica holder was adjustable wires, basically, and it was getting old to the point where it wasn't holding the harmonica sturdy enough. I finally decided to move on and find another. Little did I know, the designs for these things can be so much better! Getting the harmonicas in and out is way faster than my last system, and the sturdy knob system on the side allows you to raise and lower it instantly. I also didn't realize how much I'd like the placement of the harmonica a bit lower. Most of the time I'm singing and playing guitar, and I want it out of the way. This does that, and when I'm ready to play the harp, I just scrunch up my chest a tiny bit and it's right there. Brilliant design! Makes me want to play more music. ... show more

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars Bad playing angle
Size: Pro
For quality of build I would definitely give this 5 stars. But it does no good if you can’t play. In a normal position the harmonica hits under my nose. I’ve owned a few holders and this is the only one that has such a high playing angle. Too bad. A nice rack.
