The leather is nice, the shoes look good - but these are a far cry from the old days. I have a pair of older J&M with real leather sole and stacked leather heel and they are miles above these. This is a disposable shoe - I would gladly pay another $50 for this to have a Blake stiched leather sole and cork insole.

Comfortable shoe but poor craftsmanship. The hole punches and stitching is off and looks rushed. Definitely not the quality I'd expect from J&M and certainly not what I've seen with previous models.

I have wide feet and so needed a brand that had that option. I had not been able to find Oxford style wide shows at Destiny USA which is a really huge mall in Syracuse, NY, so had to shop online. These shoes are very very attractive. They are very well-made. And they are very comfortable. They did take a few weeks to properly break in. They were not too bad until they did, but I have stopped noticing that I am wearing them at this point, which is significant. I can certainly walk a mile or two comfortably in these. I'm not sure what would happen if I attempted ten miles. I may never know! They have the smell that shoe stores or shoe departments used to have when I was a kid back in the 1970s. The insoles add to the comfort. They make my wide feet look narrower than they are and more elegant than they are. I bought both brown and black shoes in this model. I would definitely buy them again. The last time I bought shoes they lasted for 20 years, so I am skeptical of shoes at the 70 dollar mark. If these shoes last as long as I anticipate, then the price is worth it.

This is a better shoe than most but not as good as the more expensive JM shoes. I would spend the extra money in the JM Collection shoes if that is an option.

Nice shoes. Nice tone. Nice feel. Comfy insoles. Worth the149.99 in the brown calfskin. Goimgnto purchase them in black. They run big. I usually wear a 10.5 in sneakers and 9.5 in dress shoes but I got these in a 9 and used a softener and stretchers and they fit perfectly without that excess "clown shoe" space up front.

The shoe is about what you'd expect from Johnston & Murphy. Pretty classic design, but stylish. The shoe has rubber soles but designed to look like stitched leather soles. even as the rubber wears down. Only complaint is that the leather in the vamp section is a bit thin, making it prone to crease. Nothing to write home about, and pricey for what you get, but if you like the brand and know how they fit, it gets the job done.
