I bought a similar strap years ago for my Canon 70D and it’s seen years of great service with no problems. When I added a 5D Mk IV to the stable I wanted another but wasn’t able to find the previous one I’d ordered. Enter this one. Initially I wasn’t sure about the additional wrist encircling snap-on strap but it doesn’t impede use of the camera, fits well and is comfortable, and best of all it keeps my significantly more pricey 5D firmly attached to me. As a larger, heavier camera I definitely don’t want to inadvertently drop this one, and now I won’t. I bought this because the neckstrap that comes with the camera is a pain in the... I use a tripod on occasion and with the neck strap someone walked by, caught the strap, and almost took my camera out! With this small hand strap that is a non-issue. I really like the components of this strap. The base that screws into the bottom of the camera is well designed and multi functional. Also like the secondary strap that snaps around the thumb which makes this strap superior to those that don't have this feature. Very secure with safety in mind.

    • Great hand strap, not so great tripod base

I've used this for several photo shoots now, the strap is secure when attached to my wrist and a huge improvement over a neck strap. Unfortunately after a couple of attempts using the quick release plate with my tripod, I do not trust it. The screw that connects the plate to the camera comes lose when making tripod adjustments (such as transitioning from landscape to portrait mode.) The issue seems to be that the hole on the base plate is too wide which causes the screw to come loose and move around. This causes instability which is not optimal for a tripod mounted camera. I am not sure why the hole on the base plate is sized the way it is and surprised I don't see other reviewers mention this. I wish I had purchased the model without the quick release plate. ... show more
