  • Very Thin Liquid
The mineral oil I knew as a kid was thick, almost gelatinous. This is very thin and easily absorbed. I don't know why it's thinner and whether that is a good thing or not. There is no "Contents" information. The oil seems to do what it should. I feel like I need to apply a lot to get the coverage I need. I highly recommend not using a paper towel, as the paper towel absorbs a lot of the liquid and the flecks of the paper snag on certain material, such as the bamboo cutting boards I oil after every time they go in the dishwasher (wich the manufacturer says is just fine) and decades old wooden spoons. I'm only giving four stars because I feel like there should be more substance to this product. It does state that it is safe--even recommended for products that touch food, so I am comforted by that. I have used this on some wooden implements such as cooking spoons, and those and the cutting boards seem better for the treatment. ... show more

  • Excellent for the Price
I bought this after I cut on avocado on my bamboo board and it literally absorbed oil out of the slices. My process is to clean my board thoroughly and shake off any extra water. While the board is still wet, I put it on a wire cooling rack (so that I only get oil on my butting board and not my counter) and pour the oil on to about the size of a quarter. Using a clean paper towel, I swipe with the grain of the wood until there are no streaks. Then I flip it over and repeat. I bought this product back in August, use it about once a month, and the bottle is still more than half full and odor-less. If you're worried about oil getting on your food, condition before going to bed and let the board sit overnight before using. In the morning, the wood will not feel oily to the touch but silky and slightly springy. ... show more

  • Great oil for wood cutting boards!!!!
I am very happy with this oil! It is very light, clear, and clean looking! I have 4 bamboo wood cutting boards and I reoil them every couple of months and the boards are nicely sealed and tight! The boards are also developing a beautiful patina! When I decide to reoil them, I wash them clean while rubbing them with 600 grit wet sandpaper to make them super smooth and then let them dry awhile, preferably overnight. Then I reoil the boards, rubbing the oil in with a soft cloth. I let them dry overnight and the next day, wash them with dish soap and water. My cutting boards are really looking good and holding up well! I am totally happy and satisfied with this product!!!! ... show more

  • Food grade mineral oil
I had some wooden cutting boards and wooden kitchen utensils I wanted to sand and refinish. In order to do this right you need to reseal them after the sanding and cleaning. For this you need food grade mineral oil to reseal the wood. Try as I might I couldn't find it in any supermarket I went to, the same for hardware departments. So I did what always seems to work and went to the internet. I found just what I needed on amazon.com and didn't have to but a quart or a gallon I found an 8 oz bottle for a reasonable price, and it shipped in just a few days. ... show more

  • Works well on knife blocks and old knife handles
I used this to recondition a couple of wooden knife blocks and some old (80 year-old!) wooden knife handles - it works very well. I applied it sparingly using old lint-free cotton rags and left the items to stand for a while on clean rags to give any excess time to sink in, then gave them a quick wipe - all the oil was actually absorbed and no residue or stickiness was left. It was a very easy and quick way to rejuvenate the wood, I had no problems at all.. ... show more

  • Good product
Have only used it once but it went on well and the wood seemed to like it too! Noticed a difference right away. Would give it 5 stars but have not used it long enough to know the long term effect.

  • Works for me
I only bought this for oiling up my cutting boards. Have only used it once, but I slathered it on pretty strong and let it seep in. It is doing its job so far. I don't have other uses, myself, but am sure it would be just fine. To my nose, it is odorless. I think that was a concern of some others.

  • Food safe
Love the fact that this oil is safe to use around around food. It did a good job on my wood cutting board. You use only a little and this bottle will last a very long time. Great value.
