  • Must Have In Your Physical Media Collection
This is one of those movies to that I had to have on physical media. This comes with two discs, a Blu-ray, a DVD, and an online code for a digital download. If you have never seen this movie I can wholeheartedly recommend this copy and I had a great time re-watching it.

  • A Hidden Gem
This movie is from another world. All the puppets and scenery are expertly crafted to be as real as possible. The stop motion is amazing with small details moving with the wind or as the characters move around to give the idea of life. I really enjoyed the story because I've lost a few very good dogs in my life and would've done anything to get them back. Voice acting is amazing, and all the actors seems to be themselves in dog form and not actors trying to be people in costume. Get this movie for your collection. ... show more

  • Wes Anderson at his best
Animation? Dogs talking? Believe it or not, this little movie effectively is a moral tale with themes of loyalty, pride, courage, and integrity. My wife and sons and I have gotten a lot out of it. I’ve watched it four times since it was released.

  • Blu-ray, DVD and Digital for $8
That's a great price. Sadly it lacks bonus features, I hope it gets a Criterion release one day.

  • I Love Isle of Dogs in so many ways that it's Hard to Describe
I think anyone can enjoy Isle of Dogs. it's not a violent or scary movie, but it doesn't goad the audience with a watered-down message or boring visuals. Isle of Dogs is both great visually and from a story perspective. The creative use of both Japanese and English makes it fun to try to decipher the meaning of the words from body language alone. Japanese also plays nicely into the story, coming from a Japanese world that hates dogs. The characters are memorable, each of them playing a unique role in the comedy, story, and immersion. One nod I really enjoy is the attention to detail. Each individual hair of each dog is animated as the wind goes through their fur. The movie moves at 28 FPS but is also not clunky to distract the audience from the visuals on screen. The story is engaging and doesn't overstay its welcome, ending concisely and neatly. There is a really impactful scene involving a Haiku, but I'll leave that up for each person to experience near the end of the film. I cannot recommend this movie more to stop-motion fans, anime fans, or anyone else interested in a good story. ... show more
