  • Gorgeous color, easy to fill/remove, nice quality!
Color: Yellow
This is another product type I had not seen before. While I do not own a Stanley tumbler of this size, I know these unique ice cubes can be utilized in other ways. The product video demonstrating how to remove the ice cubes from the mold was a also a strong selling point. :) I LOVE this color! It's a cross between tangerine skin and nectarine flesh, yummy and festive. After my first trial run with this set, everything went according to function, except that I filled them too high and forgot liquids expand during freezing. I filled the 3 sections with 2 tbsp. less than 2 cups of water, but next time, maybe only 1 3/4 cup. I'll be sure to leave at least 1/4" - 1/2"" of headspace. If the water freezes above the silicone rim, it pushes the lid up a bit and makes it a bit harder to remove from the silicone mold later. I can fit the two smallest cubes in a standard travel coffee thermos, but then I can't screw the cap on. If my husband uses a thermos outside in the summer (he LOVES stuff COLD), only the 1st or 2nd cube could be used singly with a lid on. If I find larger insulated tumblers for a reasonable price, I'll invest in some later, but for now, the cubes can also be used in other kitchen glasses if their base is wide enough. The orange plastic cup has the middle size ring in it, which could then be filled with fruits or ice cream. If you were to freeze milk in the molds, you could create icy floats with fruit, chocolate, etc. It could lead to some fun summer experiments with coolers by the pool, without the need for an insulated cup. The bin fits just right on my top freezer shelf below the ice maker. I've already obtained a 2nd one that can be stacked above the first. It took overnight for the cubes to freeze solid, so having a 2nd set will enable more to be ready at once (or consecutively from day to day). The quality is nice enough that I think they can withstand frequent use in and out of the freezer. I will still be careful when handling the rigid plastic bin because freezing temperatures make things brittle. This product is a welcome addition to my summer kitchenware. :) ... show more

  • The best, most impractical thing I own.
Color: Green
Listen. Is this necessary? No. It is practical? Absolutely not. Does it take up too much space in my too-small freezer? Yes, of course. Do I love it anyway? Uh, yeah. I have a Stanley that I received as a gift. Personally, I think they're overrated. If you ask me, Simple Modern is a fraction of the price and keeps drinks colder for longer. But I have 2 toddlers and the fact that my Stanley has a handle (my SM does not) means that I use it more often than not. We don't have an ice maker, so we're making ice in trays anyway. I hate that it takes an entire tray of ice cubes to keep my water cold for a measurable amount of time in my Stanley. I don't like that when the ice semi melts and freezes back together, it's hard to get my straw all the way into the cup. These ice cubes make the ice distribute evenly, so there's not a warm spot for the first five minutes after I fill it up (which I only do when I'm super thirsty, so that's when I want it coldest). They also leave a hole in the center for my straw. The tray is 3 pieces: the silicone center bit, a plastic bin to hold the silicone part, and a lid. The silicone bit is decently easy to get ice out of, although you have to completely invert each section of the tray to get the cubes (er--cylinders) out. The bin feels flimsy, but perfectly fits the silicone tray inside. One thing I don't love is that if any water spills to the bottom of the tray, it freezes and makes the base uneven, warping the ice cylinders so that one side of it is super thin and melts fast, and the other side is crazy thick. The lid...exists. It doesn't stay on very well, so I end up just kind of resting it on the top of the bin most of the time. Overall, it's impractical and imperfect, but I've still used it every single day since it showed up. IF you're an over-the-top Stanley girly (or gent) like I apparently am (against my will), I feel like this is worth the freezer space. ... show more

  • Different Way of Chillin
Color: Yellow
I was anxious to try this HAILI XMGQ ice cube maker in order to cut down on having to use so much ice in my cup and thermos. At first, I was surprised to see how much space it takes up for 3 cubes. Not terrible. Just more than I thought for how much water you actually use. It seemed to take a little longer to set than preferred also. Taking the cubes out is a bit tricky. You let the tray set out for a few minutes to make the process easier. Then you basically invert the mold. They do not just pop out. You must kind of roll it out and invert them into the base. If the rings are too large for your vessel, you can turn one on its side and tap it. Then you can use the halves. They break easily. Once they're out, you can align them in your cup or whatever. My cup only holds the 2 smallest ones. I knew this when ordering bc I read the measurements. The 2 fit perfectly. They really do sit still in the cup...no clinking. If you need to hear how much ice is left, you'll need to take the lid off instead. Unfortunately, I did not find these to last as long as regular ice cubes in my ss travel cup. Generally, my ice lasts for hours in the car, even in the hot Florida heat. These did not last nearly as long. I can see where they might be useful, but bc they don't last as long for me, it won't be in my car. ... show more
