Description

For 25 years the SR has given bass players a modern alternative. With its continued popularity, Ibanez is constantly endeavoring to answer the wider needs of a variety of players, at a variety of budgets. But no matter what the specs, the heart is the same-SR continues to excite with its smooth, fast neck, lightweight body, and perfectly matched electronics. Developed by Ibanez, the exposed pole pieces of the PowerSpan Dual Coil pickups produce a stronger signal, and increase the response of the higher frequencies without sacrificing low end. The result is a tone rich in harmonic detail and dynamic expression.

  • Cheap electronics inside burned out.
I want my musical gear to last, so I want everything tough and reliable. Not that I plan to abuse it, but because the last thing you want before you go on stage is to suddenly realize something is not working. The neck, body, tuners, and everything else mechanical on this bass is fine, that's why I gave it two stars. But, the battery powered electronics are just too complicated and unnecessary. They are also the weakest link of the reliability chain for this instrument and they let me down at the worst possible time. I tried new batteries, new cables, nothing works, and when I opened the compartment I smelled the stink of electronic smoke. There are so many tiny circuit boards and miniature components it is a nightmare to try and troubleshoot, and no way I could figure how to bypass those so it's useless now. If you are a pro, stick with passive pickups on your bass and never have to deal with batteries again. Leave the electronics on your pedalboard where they can be easily swapped out when something fails, not inside your bass. ... show more
